  1. the oil level is ok i installed the frame damper kit from tsb 08-24-2 even though the hertz reading did not match it made a noticable difference but vib still there advisor said let customer try it so i guess we'll wait and see oh well time for more 6.0 driveabilities
  2. I got an 08 f150 with a vibration that is felt mostly in the steering wheel. its at 55mph around 1350rpm gets better in neutral or with o/d off a/c operation does not affect it previous tech indexed driveshaft. truck has 18000miles customer says it started 5000 miles ago and is getting worse tried different set of tires still the same road test with eva seems to be around 12-14hz i did the calculations in wsm but nothing fits in that category hotline told it was an engine vibration perform powertrain and exhaust mount neutralization which did not help i am out of ideas and further communications with the hotline have been fruitless has any one seen any concerns like this and what should i check next hotline say to replace engine mounts?
  3. I just changed the oil on an 08 6.4 got an eight gallon drain bucket the truck filled it to about 2 inches from the top approx 30qts this truck has 8000 miles and 841 hours and had the engine repalced around 3000 miles unsure of hours then this truck is a plow truck for the local college so i can imagine whos driving it have not figured out whats causing it yet also got a 6.0l e250 with a blown oil cooler that made the coolant solid and its got rear heat in my other bay lucky me oh well job security
  4. the customer is taking the truck away on a trailer we are a satelite shop with limited tools no way to check amps of glow plugs i ohmed them all good but #2 that melted the harness i recommended that we replace the uvc harness gasket and connector and do a compression test as the vehicle has 250,000 miles on a plow truck they declined it all so i had to push it out turn out the guy work for a guy that owns a chain of restaurants thats where they get the biodiesel i've seen there vans that say they are running on bio they are dodge sprinters.thanks for the help any way the guy came and got the truck with an 05-06 f-350 6.0l i wonder what in that fuel tank
  5. can anyone tell me what damage the biodiesel will cause and how to check for that the truck will not start at all. came from another shop that put a used idm and a cmp in also shimmed cmp twice. i put two new batts in all pids look good mechanical fuel gauge at filter housing says 40 psi cranking glow plugs and relay are ok slight smoke from exhaust when cranking but does not sound like its even trying to fire customer says he runs this fuel in all his truck and never had a problem. i dont know what his other trucks are
  6. help i have inherited a nightmare customer came in with steering pull has been to many times for same or related problems has been aligned 3times tires rotated every time and road forced twice i think other tech has replaced both front calipers. i drove the vehicle with the customer seems to pull left or right without regard to road conditions or crown customer could not leave vehicle today so will bring back later i have not had a chance to look under it. coes anybody know of known concerns with mustangs i know this is a shot in the dark since we are all diesel mechanics but we all get a turd now and then
  7. hey guys i got a late build 2004 f550 cust brought in for stumbling says it acts like itwants to die and is worse when hot pulled codes p0341 p0275 p0404 p0528 p2614 p2617 ran oasis maessages said to diag drivability before cmp/ckp codes i also checked the usual locations for chafescannot see any when i went to do a power balance with pds would not let me said ckp to cmp syncronization i guess my question is has anyone run into this and is there any other chafe points that anyone has found this truck has 87000 miles
  8. thanks for the reply we finally got our dell yesterday and its works with md truck and the ficm was blank reprogramming only took the tech three trys? was not involved in this process first hand but truck now runs and customer only had to wait just over a month not bad right ha ha the best thing about the new computer is they wont put ids on it because they dont want to buy the cable to hook up the vcm so we got a computer capable of running it and a vcm getting dusty but no way to hook them together oh well maybe after another disgruntled customer complains his way up to upper management well get yet another piece of the puzzle
  9. hey guys we got a f750 in the shop with a code 451 checked wiring and inj seem to test ok tech ordered ficm do these ficms come blank like the 250-550 ficm and if so what do you have to do to program with md truck we had to fight with managment for over a month to get a laptop that would run md truck they said the computer guys did not like dell or panasonic so they will only get ibm it makes it hard to work with ford when you got a problem and you're running a computer they dont support
  10. just finished the head gasket job today did not lift the cab did the last one that and did not like the process i dont know if it was my lift or the trucks lift that turned me off but just didn't like it oh well to each their own right any way i was wondering what kind of warranty time you guys have been getting for these oh yeah i had to replace the right cyl head because it was warped 0.005" and the head gasket had a peice of metal hanging off into #5 cyl??
  11. Has anyone performed the ka pinpoint test since they changed it? I dont understand the way they want you to check turbo boost it just doesnt seem like you can accurate results this way. I have not performed these test yet just read about it and am drawing on previous experience /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
  12. I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE WHERE THE TECH HAD THE GEAR COCKED ON THE SHAFT WHEN THEY TOURQUED THE BOLT AND THEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS CRANKED IT STAIGHTENS OUT AND IS LOOSE I WOULD CHECK THIS IF YOU HAVE NO OR LOW ICP PRESS ALSO MAKE SURE THEY PLUGGED IN THE IPR AND THE WIRES ARE OK
  13. i roadtested the vehicle while monitering ect and eot they seem to follow each other the cust told me he had it checked at another shop and they 50degs different i have seen no such difference and there is no oil in the coolant also while roadtest i tapped a press gauge into the intake dearation port cruise press was 17psi but under boost the press went very quickly up to 21psi and then dropped back down and let off throttle i ordered head gaskets per tsb i have my fingers crossed has anyone installed head studs if so was the cust satisfied and is the warranty affected this truck has 35000mis on it
  14. hey guys great site this is my first posting ever so please bear with me i have a 05 f350 cust brought in for degas bottle overflow only when towing follwing tsb found press cap junk replace cap and release vehicle came back week later cust has "friends" that are techs he chats with on other forum these techs on the other side of the country have convinced this guy that it was egr cooler. vehicle did have wetness in intake around egr valve after hard roadtest replace egr cooler problem still occurring cust now thinks oil cooler and does not want his engine taking down to do head gaskets so my question is has any one seen an oil cooler cause degas bottle overflow road test eot and ect normal at operating temp but seem erratic during warm up
