  1. Mustang owners are never happy with any service performed to their vehicle. Someone else installed a short throw shifter incorrectly. I had to remove the transmission to replace a loose shift damper and installed the shifter correctly....and I'm the asshole🤪.

Put  a vented oil cap from a chev pickup with a 5.3L Leon. It has a pressure relief so they wont blow the rear seal out.

I will definitely look into that before winter. Thanks.

    Leon,

I am assuming you also cleaned the passage in the cylinder head...See  19-NA-021. Also the 2011 should have extended coverage to 120k. I check the crankcase H2O psi when I do a LOF on these.

Sure did, had the valve cover off and made sure everything was clean. This thing has 240,000 KMs on it now. It uses a litre of oil per tank of fuel in the city. Not so much on long highway trips though. I am assuming a combination of the crappy oil ring set up and the throttle closing on decel.

  3. Have my wife's 2011 GMC Terrain in my bay currently. Last Thursday the PCV froze up and blew out the rear main seal. Managed to get that replaced over the weekend. Today I had it in cleaning out the PCV system. The tiny hole in the center plugs up and causes all kinds of issues. IMG_20221227_141525_02.thumb.jpg.81e815ca40b8f250bb435ceb471cabd4.jpgIMG_20221227_141525_03.thumb.jpg.96a85d24032761227ed150ace7825cfe.jpg

  4. I was having a discussion with an electrician awhile back when having A/C installed in my house. He asked me if I was planning on getting a hot tub or electric vehicle in the near future. Turns out that most houses are not set up electrically to handle the extra load of a 220V charging station. Most city infrastructures are also not set up. There is going to be some major reworking to accommodate a raise in electric vehicles on the road.

We got our’s this last week. I played with it a little bit. It works great if all you are doing is going out and scanning for codes or need very basic level of pids.

The plan for our’s is that the service writer and the manager can go out and read codes before it gets written up without having to learn how to use the ids or fdrs.

Are you sure that's not going to lead to premature and possibly inaccurate diagnosis? Every time I see an advisor get a hold of a scan tool, it goes sideways.

Fuel station on the way to work today $4.39 credit - $4.29 cash for regular. That was all they were selling.

Now I'm starting to think I heard it wrong. $8 a gallon does seem high. Even for premium fuel.

I take it these prices are Canadian / Litre?  Prices are outta hand here in the States. Fortunately, I own a Fusion Energi and fill my tank every 2-3 months.

How. Much has your energy bill gone up? Ours has risen because the cost to produce it has gone up. We are supposed to be getting a tax break starting the April 1. The cost of gas and electricity are supposed to have the provincial taxes removed temporarily.

A friend of ours in Camas Washington says they pay $8 a gallon!! That's crazy.

  8. So, if I unplugged the MAF sensor and rechecked codes, would the P1247 go away if it was the cause?

I must add that Prodemand was absolutely no help, both the 98 and 99 wiring diagrams for the ECU were wrong. Had to check we each pin till I found the right one. Turns out one wire is a shared VREF with 6 other sensors. Wiring is good. I wonder if one of the other sensors is messing with the signal.

If you plan to keep the car, join tdiclub.com.  Good group of folks there and there is NO END to the technical info available there.

    Joe

I have visited the site a few times and agree, the information is abundant. I am astounded by all the crazy fixes for seemingly unrelated concerns.

I haven't load tested from the ECU yet as Prodemand seems to be wrong on some of the wiring. IE, it shows the horn button on the wiper arm and not the steering wheel.

  10. My son picked this beast up from a buddy to drive around, he recently had his ride written off. It has no boost and keeps setting P1247. I have access to Prodemand and have checked resistance of the needle lift sensor, 83 ohms. Spec is 80 to 120. Checked for voltage to the sensor and get 5 volts using battery ground. I get 3.2 volts when using the PCM ground. I read it was supposed to run 3.2 volts from the PCM. Checked all connections and found no issues. The diagnosis ends with replacement of the PCM. Given this is a free vehicle, we don't want to start throwing expensive and hard to get parts at this thing. My son is content with putting up with the lack of power, but I would like to try and fix it, if possible. If anyone has any VW Diesel experience, I would appreciate any input. Thanks.
