Keith Browning Posted February 22, 2006 Share Posted February 22, 2006 For our CAT gurus I have a diagnostic question. 2006 F-650 with a C7 engine cranks no start condition. Am I right in thinking this engine's fuel system is similar to a 7.3L? If so, what is the minimum "desired actuation pressure" required before the ECM enables the injectors? I recoreded this: desired actuation pressure = 1275 PSI actuation output = 89% actual actuation pressure = 290 PSI (I also have a screen shot of the graph) Additionally, I only get a very light trickle of fuel out of the filter head. LARRY BRUDZYNSKI Posted March 11, 2006 Share Posted March 11, 2006 Hi I just became a member, I think what your looking for is. inj. act. pressure at least 725 psi. If it is than the hi pressure pump is not your problem. Try disconnecting the I.A.P. sensor and try to start it again. If it still does not start then you will have to run the trouble shooting chart and additional tests. If you need I can send you the copies from the Cat manual. Keith Browning Posted March 11, 2006 Author Share Posted March 11, 2006 OOPS! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleep.gif I forgot to follow up on this one. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif Since my dealer is not "permitted" to replace the fuel pump the truck was dragged down to the CAT dealer. Sure enough, the fuel pump was bad. That still doesn't explain the low Actuation Pressure (ICP) to me unless the CAT engine can be over cranked until "dry" like a 7.3L.
