Oct 19 2012 5215 -6.7L - Foreign Object Inspection During Engine Or Turbo Charger Repairs

2011-2013 6.7L engine and turbo charger failures may leave foreign objects in the intake, exhaust, Charge Air Cooler (CAC) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)system. When replacing or repairing an engine it is important to inspect and clean the intake system, exhaust manifolds, EGR system and inspect the exhaust side of the turbo using a borescope. Turbo charger failures also require inspection. Compressor side (air intake) failures require the CAC system to be inspected. Metal debris in the CAC requires the CAC to be replaced (refer to WSMsection 303-12). Turbine side (exhaust) requires the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) to be inspected and cleaned. Failure to inspect these components for debris may result in repeat failures. Note: the turbo charger should not be disassembled for inspection.

Oct 19 2012 5209 -2011-2013 F-Super Duty - 6.7L Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Reservoir Capacity

6.7L Diesel equipped vehicles use a selective catalytic reduction (SCR)system designed to reduce the vehicles exhaust emissions. The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)tank is filled to specification at the assembly plant. Dealers are not instructed to check the DEF fluid on the Pre-Delivery Inspection(PDI) Service Record (check sheet) and are therefore not authorized to top-off the tanks during PDI. The vehicle instrument cluster message center is designed to indicate when the DEF is low (EXHAUST FLUID LOW or EXHAUST FLUID EMPTY). The SCR system should be investigated for repair at PDI only if the instrument cluster message center indicates that there is DEF system fault or low fluid level.

Oct 09 2012 5182 -2008 - 2013 F-250, F-350 DRW AND F-450 4X4 PICKUPS FIRST STAGE REAR LEAF SPRING DEFLECTION

SOME 2011-2013 F250, F350 DRW, F450 4X4 PICKUPS MAY HAVE A COMPLAINT OF SAG OR LOWER THAN EXPECTED ATTITUDE IN THE REAR WITH A LIGHT LOAD. THIS IS PRIMARILY DUE TO THE FIRST STAGE RATE IN THE SPRING PACK HAVING A REDUCED SPRING RATE FOR IMPROVED RIDE, IT'S NORMAL TO HAVE MORE DEFLECTION IN THE FIRST STAGE, THE SPRING PACK ACHIEVES FULL GAWR WHEN THE SECOND STAGE IS ENGAGED. PUT SIMPLY THE FIRST STAGE RATE DEFLECTS MORE THAN THE SECOND STAGE RATE. ENGINEERING IS DEVELOPING GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR FIRST STAGE DEFLECTION THAT WILL BE ADDED TO THE WORK SHOP MANUAL (WSM). NOTE: APPEARANCE OF THIS CONDITION IS EXAGGERATEDWHEN UNITS ARE EQUIPPED WITH HEAVIER RATE SPRINGS IN THE FRONT THAT RAISE THE FRONT RIDE HEIGHT IN COMBINATION WITH THE SHORTER 2" SPRING SPACER BLOCKS FOUND IN THE REAR ONLY ON F250, F350 DRW, F450 4X4 PICKUPS.
