  1. just a osha tid bit about heavy duty tires.when filling heavy duty tires you must use a clip on chuck that enables you to stand outside of the trajectory.when removing a flat dual you must deflate the tire while it is still bolted to the hub.you should never fill a flat tire above 10psi with out it being secured in a tire cage or bolted to the hub.proper ppe and inflation devices and cages are to be provided by the company along with traing and refresher training.never inflate a tire that has been run flat with out demounting it off of the rim and inspecting it first.I train my guys every year and will go over it off and on through out the year.these heavy duty tires can split a person in half. The air force shows us the pictures every year of what happens when you dont follow the rules and its pretty grusome.
  2. It’s been awhile since I have been back on dts.the military had upgraded there filters so we could not look at message boards. But they finally let me back through. Our 6.0s have all ran out of warranty so I will be back here quit a bit. We only received a few trucks in 07 with 6.4 and every single 08 we just received are gasoline. I have passed this site on to other airman all around the world on my military provided vacations to beaches with no water.im still trying to get funding approved for myself and others in my unit to get the training and tools we will need to keep up our fleet of power stroke fords. The air National Guard has suspended most funds for training due to money going else where. For right now this site has been a great asset.
  3. has anyone seen any negative affects with the use of low sulfer diesel on all the powerstrokes.
  4. I would like to have any info out there for web based training or class room time. are they offered only through ford. we have funds for training but most of the schools we get to go to are for heavy equiptment.our fleet is getting more 6.0's in our smaller stuff.i think i have dominated our other problem child the ford f150 4.2.i thought it would be a while before i had to work on our f350 4x4 6.0 due to them being under warranty but they are already pass the miles.we had one hit 36100 miles and had to put new ball joints on it.but the airforce is buying more of them and not offering us training on them .thanks if anyone can help.
  5. My name is shawn and im fulltime with the tenn air national guard as a heavy equiptment mechanic.we do work on smaller vehicals in our fleet. each mechanic has assigned vehicles and im the lucky one with all the fords . i have a lot of f-150 97-03 with 4.2 witch i have become pretty familar with but not by choice. is there any sites like this one that i can keep up with the smaller fords. i only get to go to schools for heavy equiptment but try to keep current with the small engines.this site has helped me out a few times. all my 6.0's right now are under warrenty but i keep up with the post just to keep an eye on some of these problems before i have to work on them. thanks shawn
