  1. my own has started slipping into 3rd. and has a shudder on easy excel. guessing a clutch pack and t.c. are starting to go. down shift stoping into first is a clunk. changed the sp oil no better. 1 peice drive shaft so no shuder from that.
  2. seems like the days of repairing a problem are gone. few now khow to repair anything or even do the machining to rebuild or overhaul.replace or use exchage . jeppers when was the last time some one saw a tech .machine valve seats and cut valves for a valve job.
  3. i have to agree with you keith to many problems with after market products esp. alarms and remote starts. i don't think it's the product as much as the guy putting them in and out for a fast buck. even on my own f250. i had the dealer put in a ford kit the full one. the next day no start, the jerk cut the starter wire as told in the ford manual but never used the kit supplied crimps. the wires were just twisted together and came apart. infact evry one was that way. non of fords instructions were followed and every wire was found the same .were ford stated solder it was bared and twisted. no wonder they said the guy was in and out in 1/2 of a hour and it took me 2 to redo his screw up and install as per the sheets i down loaded. i personally blame the tech and something a lot of us hate flat rate pay or per job pay.
  4. i know this is a old thread but some of us that at or near retirement or even as me have done so. have some tools floating around and knowage that some of these young kids will never see or hear about. it was funny as i had a phone call today by a guy who got my name and number and asked .i have a 48 ford flat head and understand you have the tools and knowage to put it back together . would you and how much? darn i know i could make some fast cash but said to him bring it and akid to my home that is going into mechanics . both of you do the lifting i can't do and i'll build you the motor so some young guy can do so later on when the time of us older guys is no more. jeppers we look at our old tools taking up space. but when we did use them . how much did they teach us and make us. they are not junk they are time vaults of mechanics showing what we did before computers and fuel injection. how many of us still have a old t bar torqe wrench floating around that is still as good as our clickers. whats my oldest tool my brains whats left of them.
  5. keith and techs the 2 tsb's fixed this baby it now runns like and better then new. one they replaced the tps with and found some thing like 3 updated flashes beond keiths found tsb . thanks for the help.
  6. slow? i was on a vaction to HI. for 3 weeks.
  7. found this one with a later date that may correct my low rpm stall that has a even later reflash date tsb 06-3-9
  8. oh i have! after 42 full years on the line. i have seen as much as the techs in this site maybe even more.
  9. vw owners are great for that one. gee why did my old dodge run real great all the time 90% gas 10% diesel. it did smoke a litte but it sure ran, the diesel car it self suffered no problems. after i cleaned the tank lines and filter out . they always fired right up.
  10. http://wordweb.info/ heres another good spell checker works with almost all http://www.obd-codes.com/index.php is a good helpfull web site when stuck trying to find a codes meaning
  11. thank you keith i'll make a apptment when i get back from HI on april 29Th. charlie g
  12. not to much up on these new motors, im ok with the old push rod ones. it threw code p0175 3 times total but not since i cleaned the mass air and went back to the stock a.f. system. it dose have a very mild miss fire at times that seems more like a lean miss. only at idle. surges and feels like a lock up problem at speeds of 35 to 45 . the tail pipe is black like on a diesel not clean saying yes it's rich .since it's bank 2 or the left side your guess is better then mine i sent a pm this am . with more information.
  13. one of the dealer techs in fte had one "test mule" in his shop so the enginercould pull codes . along with the enginer driving it was gale banks . seems to sound like the very first pick up non turbo diesel. and banks input.
  14. with all the bodys i see up and off haveing 6.0 repairs done you dealer techs most be matching the guys on the build line at ktp.
  15. just a note for any techs looking at the mag hy-tek tranie pans for the 4r100 and more so the 5r110w. if you get one lay a stock gasket over the pan to see if they have rerouted the oring yet, mine was always leaking. we found the oring was inside the main case just enough that the pan always leaked. i dropped if 7 times all total the last time even had black gasket silicon and it still leaked.dropping it down ths last time we found how badly it was inside the case. yes the mercron sp gets costly. i have made several phone calls out to them about it. with out any great results.what i did get was we test every one to some wild air pressure number. then i told them don't machine the grove don't supply a o-ring use a flat pan lip and the stock gasket .that went over real great. at any rate i would not reccormend any of their newer ford pans that use a oring up to a autotranie case.
