  1. I FOUND A 7.3 FROM A 1996 F350 AND I NEED TO INSTALL IT INTO THE 1999. IM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AS FAR AS INJECTORS, HARNESSES, AND OTHER PARTS ETC. THANKS YOU
  2. Ran manual compression test this morning, #7 50 psi. Customer authorized removal of cylinder head and the top of the #7 piston is destroyed, I Can only guess that the old injector nozzle broke and pieces were left in the cylinder, and the customer did not realize it when he changed the injector. I will try and post pictures tomorrow but it is nothing we have not all seen. Thanks for the help.
  3. Have another good 6.0 story, I have a customer with an early build 6.0 with 187,000 miles. F250 was towed in last week with no high oil pressure.High pressure oil pump was bad, replaced high pressure pump and truck ran great. Finished the work last saturday drove the truck home, took my family to church on sunday, drove it in on monday and returned it to the customer.Towed it back in tuesday miss on #7, relative compression #3 and #7 low, power balance #7 dead. Customer told us prior to high pressure oil problem he replaced #3 and #7 injectors all injector electrical tests passed. Pulled v.c. and high pressure rail removed injectors everything was installed correctly.Inspected rockers and push rods looked at valve springs all seems o.k.Swapped injectors to retest #7 drops out. Will do manual compression test in the morning, seems weird that the injectors the customer replaced developed compression issues in the same cylinders. If anybody has any insight to what the problem might be or what to test next it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
  4. Working on a 2004 f350 that lacks power on accel, will p0488 in memory. Removed intake elbow and on acceleration in service bay I can watch butterfly close almost completly and engine boggs down. If I unplug egrtp truck runs great. Customer recently replaced turbo, egr valve, and ficm.My question is does he leave it unpluged and drive it or spend 665.00 on new plate. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Truckis in good condition with 184,000.
  5. thanks for the help, thought I was up to date. will update right now.
  6. recently left ford dealership to work with an independant, purchased ids through ford, no problems for 3 months. now I have a 2005 escape that needs plugs, coils, and pcm, my ids tells me module programming not available. Can anybody tell me what I am missing? 8. working on 1995 f350 7.3 and the gasket between the front cover and the high pressure pump keeps blowing out. verified leak at gasket between pump and cover, replaced gasket using work shop manual procedures, two days later gasket is blown out again. any input as to root cause of gasket failure would be greatly appreciated.the motor is a ford reman with 20,000 miles on it. thanks again
  9. working 1999 f450 7.3 h.p. pump resivoir leaking ordered new gaskets there were some build date questions old gasket has screen built into it new does not can any one tell me if they eliminated the screen or i have the wrong gasket part # f81z-6619-aa thanks again for peace of mind parts dept. not sure
  10. just updating the repair or bandaid applied to this motor just so happened the tech next to was working on 2000 f450 with 325.000on the clock at the same time i was working on this truck i compared the depth of installation of crank seal to find his was installed about 1/8 inch farther than the one that came installed in the oil pump cover i also noticed on this other truck that someone drilled a couple of holes in the bottom of the oil filler cap i assume to relieve crank case pressure i also took the breather off the valve cover ran some brake clean and shop air thru it it did not look to bad to start with and parts quoted 180.00 for new one i put the seal in a little farther hoping it would grab more of the wear sleeve drilled a couple of small holes in bottom of oil filler cap put it back together changed the oil went out and drove it hard no leaks said a prayer and sent the owner on his way have not heard back whether he made it or not truck needed a motor the owner just wanted to get home i hope he did and also thanks to everyone that makes this website a great place to get information or to vent or to get a laugh wthout all the b.s. thanks again!!!
  11. is the breather in left valve cover serviceable i will look at service manual just thought some one may have input trying to get acustomer back t5o kentucky from chicago with out breaking down see previous post
  12. 2002 f350 7.3 towed in lost 10 quarts of oil from front crank shaft seal removed balancer and oil pump cover seal and wear sleeve appear to be installed correctly seems to be looser than normal fit when seal is over wear sleeve i have a new balencer with wear sleeve installed and new oil pump cover and compared it to old one seems like a tighter fit but not much engine has 254591 miles and has excessive blow by and i am thinking thats the reason for pushing the oil out truck is from out of town and another dealer has replaced the seal recently but i am not sure what the reason for prevouis repair were the driver is not sure if it is crank case pressure causing concern is there anything anybody can think of to get truck back on the road without replacing engine with correct oil level truck starts and runs good filled crankcase with oil and drove before dissassembly any input would be greatly appreciated thanks for your time
