  1. Just had someone just call about a fuel level sender for a 2012 diesel, he said it is attached to the bottom of the tank. We have had a couple apart here and they were the same as the 2011. Is this a change up in the last couple of months?
  2. I was wondering if anyone knew what PCM strategy changes there are with the Snow Plow option "on" or "off" in the PCM. I am sure that the cooling fan would be on more at higher road speed but beyond that I am not sure. Trans shift a little late perhaps? Any thoughts would be more than welcome.
  3. When at a Dodge dealer in the early 80s (I was the tranny guy there), a local aircraft service company brought their air craft tractor in. It was a large box made out of plate steel (about 1/2" thick). The thing was crazy heavy, maybe 10,000 lbs. Had 22" rims on the back with a huge diff, like out of a 10 ton truck. 15" wheels on the front, 360 dodge V8 a 727 transmission and a gianormus trailer hitch. They wanted a fresh motor and transmission with a little more grunt for pulling in jumbo jets. The motor guy refit the 360 with a Dodge Direct Connection drag strip set up complete with cam, intake, carb, distributor, but stock manifolds. The tranny got all the Direct Connection recommended mods to go with the motor. We road tested on the lot, If you held the brake on and launched it it would hang the front wheels. Top speed was about 20 or 30 kph at 4500 RPM. Almost cleaned a new K car off the lot trying to stop it, the driveshaft brake wasn't very effective for slowing it down.
  4. Anybody having complaints about integrated brake controllers not suppling enough juice to the trailer? I have just spoke with a driver that was complaining about this issue. This is the 2nd guy in one week. Both of these guys say that the trailers work fine on other trucks. I had a couple earlier in the summer same issue and was unable to make the factory controller grip up any better. The second one that came in had already been to a couple of other dealers and they had changed the controller (twice) and the trailer plug. He had just had all new brakes installed on his trailer before he came to see us. They tested the current draw with a trailer tester before they sent him on his way and told him it was all good. After the second one had been long gone, an engineer called checking to see if the transducer I changed made it work better. He seemed to be suggesting that this is becoming an issue. When this guy was pulling out I did notice that his trailer had a third brake light installed on it, his turn signal was on and the other tail lamp and the third was on signalling braking at the same time. I was thinking that the third brake lamp might be wired to the electric brake wire, although the controller didn't show a trailer fault as I would think it should. I think that would interfere with the feedback pulse. I havent been able to come up with an answer for any of these guys. Any suggestions?
  5. Sure is a handy way to use the IDS. It is a little disappointing response wise (read slow). We have only been able to make it work in adhoc mode. Trying to hook it up to the router has not worked for us yet. Two different guys have only succeed in screwing up the connection to the point that there is no internet or access to the network. Oh well tomorrow is another day, hopefully we will get it figured out. I think the idea of using a PCMCIA card as well as the built in wireless would be the best way and fastest possible speed.
  6. I have seen a couple of times, aft tanks leaking water at the vent valve on the top of the tank (a new grommet seems to have fixed them). Are the vent hoses located somewhere that they would suck water vapor while driving? Could this be causing your rust issue? The fuel tank should not normally have any water in it to cause the rust.
  7. No air out will = no air in. Exhaust restricted?
