  1. Got a 2003 the shop that just needed a "gasket" Tore it down to find the coolant ports eroded all to hell and it needs the whole thing. My parts guys are all telling me these things are on backorder? When did that happen?

  2. Excellent presentation, I have never considered the miles to hours calculations before but will use them in the future for sure!

I live and die by these when it comes to our fleet. We have some trucks that just simpley have to idle more then normal. Its a constant conversations with our drivers about the importance of engine hours

  3. Making progress on this thing finally. Gotta make a stand for the motor and transmission so I can store it out of the way. I am actually thinking I can chop the frame behind the trans mount and in front of the engine crossmember then weld some casters on it. Instant cart! I do have to say it is kinda fun tearing something down knowing it never has to go back together ever again.

It was a nice truck 1.5yrs ago. Sad to see the death of a 70k truck. The cab was only worth 47bucks in scrap value....

  4. Drove a 2015 F250 last week. It was one of 5 that showed up at the local dealer so I had our fleet sales guy bring one by my shop to check out. Power is noticeable compared to the 400/800 in the previous MYs but not as much as I was expecting. Granted with it being a brand new vehicle power levels are always kinda skewed anyway. I bet the biggest improvement will be when hauling something heavy. Also notable was the factory exhaust brake which is fucking awesome to finally have from the factory. They only issue was sticker price was a cool 63k for lariat which pretty much kills my broke ass from ever being able to buy one

  5. Im not against change but I think the transit is going to be able to fill the shoes of what the E-van did. Just the other day our electrician was in doing some work in my shop. I noticed his e-van was loaded to the hilt inside/roof which made me think about how that pos transit would do with that kind of weight. I asked him if he knew the e-van was going away in favor of the transit, He had no idea what a transit was. I showed him some pictures and specs and he was less then impressed to say the least.

I just dont get all the European thinking rammed down our throats but hey what do I know I just fix the things ::bang::

It will be interesting how the transit takes hold and if it can prove itself over the e-van. Time will tell in this case. Interesting motor options as well. Is the I-5 diesel still slated for the transit?

  6. I particularly like to pass the police cars on the freeway, Not at blazing speed but typically the normal 5mph over posted. This is always fun with the looks you get from the other idiot drivers that refuse to pass them and do under the posted limit just because there is a cop on the road.

More annoying is the cop that is jacking with traffic and doing 10mph less then posted clogging up traffic. However I cant bitch too much because if I was one I would probably do that myself :haha2:

  7. Like Keith said if your a dealer employee you should already have a personal login.

If your a independent and need access it can be costly. Its about $5,000 a year for full PTS access including training(web and classroom). I access through the fleet.ford site, which aside from a few minor differences its exactly the same as the dealer level. I believe the motorcraft website gives you the current MY publication access but thats about it. Anything more and you need a subscription.

  8. I have a older version in 1/2 drive and love it. I used it to do heads on 6.0s all the time. I would still paint mark the bolts as I could only really get the first 90* yield down before the force was too great for the length of the wrench itself.

I have a manual 1/4" and 3/8" snapon wrench for the smaller stuff. I do not believe in one torque wrench for all jobs even if your torque spec is within the spread of the wrench. There are just some places you cant get a 1/2" wrench or vise versa.

  9. Keith my currently DELL is a touch screen running windows 7 pro. Its actually about 2 yrs old now

Check out the ATG series of Dell laptops. They are more robust then the normal laptop, they have docking features as well that makes moving it from my desk(with monitor keyboard etc)  to vehicle much easier. Think toughbook without the cost of a toughbook

  10. wow that looks like a bitch of a recall. My sister has one of these so I was just looking at the recall myself.

Glad I dont have to do any of these myself!
