  1. I appreciate the help guys. A coworker actually had an old harness that I was able to cut it off of.
  2. Does anyone know the part number for the pigtail that connects to the EOT sensor on a 6.0L PSD? Its the one that is exactly like the one on the IAT2. I couldn't find it in the motorcraft connector book.
  3. I had one of these for awhile. It was great and on sale when I bought it. $38 I think. I lost it when I put it on the back of a flat bed that I was working on to get it out of the way. I then road tested the truck. When I was driving the truck I heard a crash. I thought, "WTF was that." I figured it out when I couldn't find the step later on.
  4. Im working on one right now that is using coolant. I followed the stupid PPT A in the WSM and it leads no where, literally. When you get to PPT A6 it asks to check for combustion gases in the cooling system. When it failed it says to refer to WSM 303-00 or 303-01. Either way, it says nothing about it. I removed the EBP tube and the EGR outlet temp sensor to check for coolant, none. So I assume it's the headgaskets. When I gave all this info to hotline and tell them I think I need to replace headgaskets, they tell me to remove both coolers and bench test them and try to get them hot first. I did with a heat gun and they both pass. Again I contact them, and they say, "Suspect headgaskets. Replace headgaskets." So I get the pleasure of having to R&R the engine cab on because the ladder rack is welded. Im trying not to but this kind of crap makes it real hard.
  5. If it's just an R&R it shouldn't be too bad. You obviously already asked to diagnose properly. If he continues to refuse, document that on the RO to CYA. I've had that situation. I wrote on the RO 'Customer refused to have technician diagnose vehicle.Customer advised replacement of coolant pump would not guarantee overheat problem would be resolved.' In this case, he was right and the pump was the problem. Either way I was covered.
  6. Did you guys here about the superbowl live feed? Apparently the games live feed was cut and went to a porn video of some dude windmilling his junk. It was for like 30 seconds. It only happened in Arizona to Comcast subscribers.
  7. I read a good quote in a book that I used on a former employer of mine. We were starting a fleet/truck center with a secondary P&A. When we asked for equipment he said he had to see some revenue first. I said, "does it make sense to tell your fire place 'no, I won't give you any fire wood until you give me some heat?'" It was funny. He didn't respond. Just turned very red, took a real long drag from his cigarette, and mean mugged me. It's fun to make people that think they're smarter than you, feel stupid.
  8. I work flat rate. It blows, but oh well. I rarely make my 80 per pay. The only thing that I really hate is when I get compared to guys that don't put out the level of quality that I do or the dishonest techs. I go above and beyond to make sure the job is done right. And I don't slam warranty. Integrity...... it's kind of a bitch. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
  9. Sorry I havent updated in a while. My pc is out for repair. Well, I didn't have time to get the kit, but I put it together in the exact sequence specified. I "clicked" every bolt and had no issues with the truck. As soon as I get the chance I will buy the adapter kit. I still fail to figure out what "engine damage" the WSM is talking about. Exhaust leaks or warped flanges aren't engine damage. If I get this "engine damage" I'll be sure to report.
  10. I got this 6.4 that I removed the turbo on cab on. What do you guys think would happen if I fail to properly torque the inlet and egr pipes at the rear? Im thinking I'll follow the sequence but without the torque wrench. What if I make a clicking sound everytime I tighten a bolt? I don't have the adapter kit to use my torque wrench. What "engine damage" do you think would occur? Just a what if question. I might just go and buy or piece together an adapter kit.
  11. I don't blame you for making that decision. I too see the business going south and have applied for a job out of the industry. I need to go through a lengthy hiring process so I will continue turning wrenches to feed my family. God bless you and everyone on DTS. I wish everyone happy holidays and that you're surrounded by the ones you love. Thats what it's all about.
  12. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  13. once you get them out, replace the cage nut. The new ones appear to be updated and don't spin as easy. That bent 7/8 wrench is the easiest/only way I know of to get them out. Good luck.
  14. I've never been near an assembly plant at all. How does one obtain this type of job anyway? Is it similar to that of Longshoremen? I know a longshoremen that camped out in a line for 2 days to recieve a card to become a "casual" worker at the docks here in L.A. He had to accumulate something like 2000 hours of work in order to be eligible to join the union. As a casual he would get the crap jobs, and work crazy back breaking labor jobs for like 2.5 years. He is now a union member and makes over $100k per year with excellent bennies and retirement.
  15. $60 per case /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif I bet homebrewing is big up there.
  16. call OASIS?? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Do you mean, hotline?
  17. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hahaha.gif I love living in California.
  18. The last shortblock I did, the good cylinders had about 400 psi give or take 5 psi. It had a #8 bent rod and that one had about 325 psi.
  19. Thats the great thing about being of Mexican descent. We do the turkey on Thanksgiving. But for Christmas, my mom makes some awesome tamales out of chicken or pork along with other traditional Mexican holiday food. It's not that Taco Bell or Del Taco garbage so many people actually call Mexican Food. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  20. One of my co-workers is installing the contraption that stacks 2 injection pumps on a 7.3L. That thing looks weird. Has anyone seen this thing?
  21. Im used to that kind of thing already. It's great to have a boss that backs up his guys. The last couple of places I was at where hell bent on keeping level 1 status even if it meant back flagging me and the other diesel guys to death. When I was interviewed with my director where I'm at now, I asked if he had or was trying to obtain level 1? His response: "what are you, f*ckin' kidding? Not with 6.0L still under warranty." My reaction was just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
  22. Im wondering if you heat them up first then use the drill, if that will avoid burning out the drill motors. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif I didn't know the heat em up trick. I think I'll try that next time. Good tip guys.
  23. I find 9.5 times out of 10 the heads have cracks along the exhaust valve seats. I've only seen maybe a total of three cylinder heads that weren't cracked. I don't think I've ever seen a head warped.
