  1. Hotline recommended following pinpoint test MC, but of course that leads me to replacing the PCM because the test never considers a problem with the cooling system. The fluid level is full, and the pump does come on when commanded. I disconnected one of the hose coming from the coolant pump and the flow/pressure seems week, but I dont have another vehicle to compare it to right now.
  2. I looked at some of my recordings, I did notice FRT going as high as 117 degrees, seems like if temp was under 105 degrees it was running better. Hotline says normal FRT should be 67-71.
  3. Hotline says my FRT is to high. But i have compared that pid to a truck with no issues and it was at 100 degrees
  4. 2008 F-450 95500 miles. No DTC's. While driving it will intermitanly lose power when accelerating. Seems worse at highway speeds. When it happens MGP will start to fall. Will build 28psi boost then it starts dropping down to 10psi while APP is still at 99.5%. In the beginning fuel pressure was low and I replaced the fuel filters. Pressure was still low so i replaced the fuel pump. Now fuel pressure is normal but concern is still present. Also has new turbos. Attempted to check for boost leak but not seeing any leaks with smoke machine. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Baro - 14.2 APP - 99.5% DPF - 2.83 psi EBP_a - 38 psi EBP DSD - 24 PSI EGRPCT - 0% EGRT_A - 1.23k EGRT_B 181 FLI - 24% FRP - 23769 PSI FRP_DSD 23736 PSI FRT 107 MAF - 286 g/s MAP - 28 PSI MGP - 13 PSI VGTDC - 36% VGT MES - 37% VSS - 64 MPH
  5. Fluid in coolant bottle was low. Found some residue on air filter. Swapped mass air flow sensors, did notice a difference in MAF readings. After replacing sensor DPF readings are more consitent, before they would go from 40% to 420% within the same day.
  6. After several conversations with hotline, I was finaly informed that the auxillary coolant bottle leaks onto the air filter box contaminating the air filter and mass air flow sensor causing erratic readings.
  7. Well, put it all back together and did notice EOT more 22 degrees more than ECT. Replaced oil cooler, looks much better. So either the oil cooler just didnt last long or wasnt replaced during the last repair like they said.
  8. Vehicle returns with codes p246c and p2463 for soot accumulation. Previously replaced exhaust system and dpf sensor (would not regen at the time, said too clogged). DPF load= 45% Dist since last regen = 92 miles. avg regen =336 miles. soot_inf =1.799. DPF voltage = .49 at idle and spike to 4 volts while raising rpm. Instrument cluster reads "filter 0% full" Any Ideas?
  9. 2007 F-450 6.0 was at another dealer 11 months ago and 9000 miles ago. That dealer performed 09-08-03, replacing head gaskets, oil cooler, egr cooler, cleaned turbo, flushed cooling system. Vehicle now comes into our shop overheating and running rough. Diasassembled vehicle, found head gasket leaking at cylinders #2 and #4 and egr cooler leaking. checked flatness of cylinder head and block, both ok. Any suggestions on what may have been the cause of this besides turbo and/or EBP sensor? Thought it was odd that both the head gasket and egr cooler failed.
  10. Thanks for the info guys! Just ordered the cable from Rotunda for $195 plus $20 shipping and $17 tax. Too bad they dont sell it on RTTP for no shipping and tax.
  11. Looking to buy a wireless vcm card or usb cable from vcm to computer.
  12. Well, I finaly found the problem. This truck eventuly got to the point where it would barely run. Finaly noticed small change in rpm signal and relative compression would error out with "unexpected rpm change". Removed engine and found crankshaft sensor tone ring seperating from crankshaft (as tony mentioned earlier). Tone ring will move back and forth approx 25 degrees independant of the crank. Thanks for all the help everyone!
  13. Tasted the sample definatly not coolant. The carbon is very tacky. Relative compression is still perfect. Power balance is very erratic. Misfires jump around to each and every cylinder. Originaly this vehicle only acted up when cold. That is why i replaced the injectors. After replacing injectors vehicle ran great. Returned vehicle to customer. They drove it for 300 miles and now it runs worse than ever before. As of today, the vehicle has hardly any power at all.
  14. oil has been changed. mass fuel according to IDS is .40gr. I removed egr valve again, and noticed what appears to be some fuel in the intake (not coolant). Maybe its running way to rich?
  15. Well, im still getting nowhere with this truck. I have drained and replaced fuel and both filters. Swapped out a new F.I.C.M., swapped out IPR, and went back over diag sheet. Still not coming up with anything conclusive. Both hotline and F.S.E. are out of ideas. I did notice when performing KOER test the engine smooths out. What is the P.C.M. or FICM do to the engine that makes it smooth out? I would imagine it raises the IPR. However, if i command the IPR using dataloger, it doesnt smooth out. I have no idea what to check or try next. If anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate any input.
  16. It does have the latest calibration. Old injectors did not look too bad. ICP is around 670. Did not notice any faults while monitoring RPM, FICM sync or SYNC. Put fuel in freezer – no signs of water or gelling. Also, fuel did not light with a match. Although, im not sure this fuel smells right. Monday I will try to drain the tank and get known good fuel.
  17. Well, i kept replacing egr valvs since the ids test would fail when it gets hot. Even the one i have in there now fails. Thats why i have been driving the truck with it unplugged for now - to eliminate the possibility of if being bad just for now. T Cleared codes, test drove, retrieved cylinder contribution codes for #1 and #2. checked eb tube for blockage - ok. Ford F.S.E. came out today and did not have any definate ideas. Some times one cylinder will misfire for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes, then another cylinder might misfire for a little bit,and so on. Seems to be worse when cold. Sometimes the truck will run great. I have 35 hours in this truck and starting to lose my mind. (and lots of money)
  18. I am a rookie diesel technician with nobody here to assist me. I am working on a 2006 f-550, 37,000 miles. Vehicle intermitantly blows white smoke (smells like fuel) and will show random cylinders misfiring under load, according to power balance. Originaly replaced egr valve for codes and failed ids test. After replacing 7 egr valves, still cannot get one that passes the test when hot. So, i decided to disconnect the egr valve and test drive to elimate the possibility that the egr valve is causing my concern. Concern still happens with valve disconected. Im ashamed to admit it, but i have replaced a lot of parts already. Replaced intake and turbo due to excessive coking from egr valve. Replaced all injectors, due to cylinder contribution codes and rough idle. Idle is now smooth, but still smokes and misfires under load. Fuel looks ok. Fuel pressure drops to 44-45 psi under WOT while driving. 50 psi at idle. I know this is at the bottom of the specs. But, could this be my concern? Any help would be greatly apreciated.
