  1. you have to clear the p0341 from memory before it will let you perform a power balance test. just the code in memeory will not allow you to perform that test.
  2. This is probably really far fetched but have you checked the ap pids. I have seen accelerator pedals stick on a few 6.4 liters cause a high idle concern. I have never seen one stick on a 6.0 but anything is possible. Try pulling up on the pedal and see if the idle drops.
  3. I believe that it changed when the special fuel pressure tool was released.
  4. I have given up on trying to remove the bolts by hand. I just use a socket and breaker bar up on top and have someone pull them out with an impact on the bottom. Has worked real well so far. As far as the front 2 I still pull them by hand but put a jack stand under the body to put pressure on the cage nuts.
  5. Actually if you read the pced it now states to check fuel pressure on an e series at the back of the cylinder head now.
  6. Keith, it is something that I thought of my self. I am pretty sure it is quite accurate as I have been able to check fuel pressure at the filter housing and yes it is a real bitch to do.
  7. The reason the fuel pressure spec is lower on the e series is because it is tested at the back of the cylinder head after the injectors. The injectors firing will lower the fuel pressure in the cylinder head. If you test fuel pressure on an e series at the secondary fuel filter housing it will be higher like the f series. That is the reason for the different specs.
  8. Ok. You all have a good point and I agree that maintenance is important. It is a great way to make money, at least for the dealer. The pay for maintenance in this shop is horrid. I get about half the pay per flag hour for performing maintenance work. There is no incentive here for doing it. I guess that is why I am frustrated about it. I have no problem doing it but there is no real profit in it for the techs here. It did use to be gravy work and in a way it still is. It is no longer a profitable endeavor for me but only a real profit for the dealership. Again, I did not get in the business to do just maintenance work on vehicles. I enjoy the challenge of diagnosing and repairing vehicle as well as checking them over for safety issues which is actually what I use the report card for more than selling maintenance.
  9. Well if it comes back I guess I can tear the turbo down. I did not crack into it because I really feel that is not it. I have commanded the turbo fully closed with the egr closed and the max difference between map and baro was about .5 psi. According to the pced that is not enough of a difference to set that dtc. But if it does indeed come back I may just have to do that and inspect it.
  10. I have checked the ebp and it was not biased at 14.3 psi. I also checked the tube for a restriction and none was found.
  11. I would like everyones opinion on this subject. Now I think that the report cards and the fact that ford is pushing maintenance real hard is a great thing for our customers and it is also a great way to pull in some extra money for the dealers and ford motor company. My issue with this subject is that it seems that is all I have been seeing in the ford commercials lately is them pushing maintenance items. I know my dealer has been advertising it real hard as well. It seems to me that they have left out that dealers also repair vehicles. My dealer has really been pushing us to sell brakes, tires, and batteries as I am sure your dealers have as well. The problem I have is that my dealer pays lower wages on items like that. I really dont do alot of maintenance because I am working on diesels all day long and dont have time to do maintenance work. I really dont care to do it because the wages are extremely low to do it. I know that alot of guys say that that kind of work is gravy work and for the most part it probably is. Here it is not though. They have really set it up where it is a money maker for the dealer and not the tech. We have a quick lube shop that does most of it and I really dont have a problem with that. I just feel like the real work that is done here is being left out of advertising. I didnt go to school and get a bunch of training to brake jobs and sling tires all day for as much as a worker at wal mart makes. When did it change from having your vehicle serviced by factory certified techs to instead come have your oil changed and your brakes and tires inspected by certified techs. Help me understand this direction for trying to sell maintenance so hard and leaving out the fact that alot more is done at flm dealers than just doing oil changes.
  12. I have performed every single possible test on this truck that I can think of and have found nothing. I have driven multiple times with no concerns. Like I said earlier it only happens every 2 to 3000 miles and runs fine until it happens. I put a baro sensor on it, cleaned the map hose out and the port as it was a little plugged but not fully. I had to let it go. Customer needed it for a job. We will see what happens.
  13. I have quit removing the seats all together. I just use an air ratchet and get underneath the carpet and do it that way. As Mike said the rear seat is just to much to handle and I prefer to touch as little of the interior as possible.
  14. Great job. I gotta say though that is the rustiest superduty I have ever seen.
