  1. I got an F650 flatbed tow truck that wont get out of it's own way, only codes recieved are 68 and 111,secondary turbo inlet pressure fault and coolant level sensor fault,of which i just replaced the coolant level sensor, code stayed gone for a bit then returned....i dont see alot of these 5.9's but it acts like it's in derate mode and will barely reach 40mph....wondering if the turbo is anything like the 6.0 as far as operation,i have a known good turbo available to switch with if needed...service engine soon light and stop engine light is on and stays on when running....anybody familiar with this 68 code? thanks for your help on this
  2. Derate is an understatement when this happens...it actually falls on it's face and throttle is less than responsive...got bit on this one for sure...put an electric fuel pump on for this same concern, thought for sure that fixed it...funny thing is the glow plug coil flashes intermittently but only codes are 2614 and 17...hopin it's the cam sensor signal causing havoc on other circuits, fixin to put one in...
  3. Wow,what a good one i got here...6.0 runs great right up to when u least expect it... throttle cuts out,no response from pedal, low power, feels like fuel shut off...while this is happening the water in fuel light comes on,and glow plug coil flashes....do a neutral coast ignition reset and power comes back most of the time...lights go out...tried recording it but it's so intermittent it's hard to catch....codes p2614 and p2617 only codes stored after episode... I'm thinking can sensor is losing signal causing cut out concern...109K on truck...thanx
  4. Thanx guys I'll check that....used your typical spark light and getting good spark from coil wire...gonna check for pulse at injectors,it makes sense that just because u have power to injectors doesnt mean there's pulse...which brings me back to whether check engine light should self check or not...this is my uncle dennis's car, sure would like to hear this thing run.... if no pulse and no check engine light, sounds like breakout box time...good times
  5. Mornin everyone, gotta '94 stang convertible 5.0 that cranks, but wont start unless u shoot ether to it...found water in the gas, replaced fuel pump with a bosch and cleaned tank....NOW i got good fuel and pressure, spark is ok and i have power to injectors...now here's the kicker: the check engine does NOT prove out, self test or whatever the reference is....i pulled every connector i could find to eliminate the possibility of a bias sensor...no go still... Just wanted to verify that indeed the check engine light should come on with key in run position, then go out after engine starts...this thing is kickin my ass, anybody have an idea of what i'm missing here...? THANKS
  6. Just wondering if someone might know where i can obtain the adapter needed to perform air pressure test on 6.0 hi pressure oil system....thought NAPA could get it from their broad range of fittings in stock, but thats a no go...I tried the small plug match up and the one for icp sensor port,no luck... It's been awhile since i've visited here, miss u guys...thanx for any help
  7. Hey all....i got an '04 cavalier with a 2.2L ecotech engine here, the customer concern is no heat from inside...up to this point the thermostat, radiator and heater core have been replaced...they admitted to adding stop leak for a few months before no heat concern... Wondering if anyone has stumbled across one of these, seems like the coolant is not circulating, while the t-stat was off i turned the crankshaft and the water pump impeller moves as it should.. Totally lost on this one,any ideas or similiar circumstances on this gem of an engine...? Thanks for any help given, gitting my arse handed to me here...
  8. Larry, thinkin' that was Kieth givin u a GREAT BIG hug....i gotta say I don't even bother with going to any other diesel sites (except ),this site is very familiar to me and mostly friendly, can't beat it with a stick
  9. Got an Enhanced Short Block comin on the truck today (supposedly)....There's still alot of parts needed to complete the repair, the engine i'm replacing came in as a no start,it was hydrolocked, found both coolers leaking, actually had coolant dripping from exhaust tips, that CANT be good for the DPF...it's an '08 with 60,300 miles with a loud knock AND oil sprays on the d/s fender (from dipstick tube) at idle...it had a #8 piston put in at 38,000,along with coolers at another dealer...I pulled the pistons out and found some spun bearings and oblongated cylinder walls along with worn rings (suprised no pistons were burnt)... but with the fuel system as finicky as it is and the fact that's it's a 6.4 has one worry if everything will run and work correctly when all is said and done...hope this doesn't sound like whining, but the 6.4 ('08 in particular) is a big damn can of worms way too often... Wonder what the warranty time will be for the more robust block swap...probly not gonna be pretty
  10. Got an '08 6.4 here...customer came in for a high idle concern, long story short i reprogrammed it at IDS 68.11 level, high idle concern went away...i was told in order to get paid the big dollars (.6?) there has to be an applicable TSB # that fits the concern...only one I see is TSB 09-19-10,but thats for trucks 3 months newer... Customer didn't pay,it was covered it under warranty (that's what the writer told the customer, but no deductible was collected),i'm guessing that was a freebie...no biggie Anyone got a TSB # for this, maybe it's outdated because it's out of the 3 year mark? Thanks
  11. Got one here that when key is out of tumbler the lights on the cluster stay lit(ABS,Brake w/warning message,Batt, etc.),and it wont start...it's acts as if the key is in the on position, except the key is on the seat...intermittent,of course....HELP! They're from out of town...
  12. got a no start here with p179a,p0101,p0003,and sure enough fuse 74 blows, disconnected jumper harness and fuse doesn't blow...guessing the hpop harness is shorted to ground,so the cab is coming off... With the harness causing issues, should i replace the pump also or just the harness and hope thats the ticket... '08 F350 with 57,000 miles
  13. I'm gonna say both,Kieth...apparently Ford has had a bunch of inquiries on this P132b thing,he said the updated calibration (power increase) should eliminate the P132b,a false code perhaps, and the spec for MAP increase USED to be 10psi,they lowered it to 6.96 due to the failed KA16....I'm still learning on the 6.7's
  14. I'm using gaskets from now on for sure...the manifold prices have dropped a bunch i think,i put new manifolds, bolts, spacers and gaskets on this puppy...P132b is gone, and it has power once again Thanks for the advise
