OK I have a 88 f-250 with many problem in my bay the one I need help with is at some time in the past somebody disconnected the hose from the fuel filter to the #1 injector return and capped it at the filter housing, and replaced the return cap with a single fitting. I'm replacing the orings because there leaking fuel should I return the hose to it's original routing or leave the Gennie in the bottle and leave it alone??? (Don't ask, Don't tell). It runs real good other wise

They did something goofy to the shrader valve too. Maybe it was leaking and they put that hose on the end to keep the fuel from leaking out. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

I recall these engines always being sensitive to leaks. If it wasn't the return collars it was the hoses connecting them rotting out. I went round and round over that with more than one truck back in the day.

The rubber crush seals in the fittings were a real pain in the ass too because they might not leak fuel but they can allow air into the system after shut down and cause hard starting problems by making the injection pump lose prime.

it doesn't leak at all, at some time I guess the schrader valve cap was lost so a plastic hole plug was just stuck over the end /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif At least it has a cap.. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif

FWIW the truck does run good for it's "classic vintage" I was afraid that the missing hose may have been the cause of the leaks but it seem not to be the case so I didn't mess with the hose I'm just gun shy about old crap like that,it's working fine and has no issues don't fool with it!!!

Found this site for a parts kits for these. http://www.mwfi.com/dieselPage/ford_73.htm

Anyone know of any other places this stuff is available?

Yep me I've got all this stuff and more, all you have to do is call... I helped Keith out with the delivery valve that is not a available service part. We are a full blown Stanadyne,Bosch,etc...factory service center most of the Turbo and Diesel shops you deal with order the injectors, pumps and etc from us.

The kit you are refering to is pretty simple it is available in either the 6.9 of 7.3 and comes with the hose, clamps, plastic tees, injector orings and copper seals. Sells over the counter for about $28.00 plus the gov. share.
