6.4 has no power only during a heavy rain

Hey guys I dont have a lot of information on this yet so you may not be able to help me yet, the customer is suppost to bring it to me this week. He has a 2009 f450 with the factory bed on it. He says it will have no power only during a heavy rain and it runs perfect when nice weather. He also said that during a heavy rain it will still have to be drivin 5 or 10 miles before it will start acting up. He has had it at two different shops and they told him it had no codes and they couldnt help him. I have only talked to him, he has not brought the truck in yet but I just wanted to check and see if anybody has run into something like this that might give me a heads up when he gets here. Thanks.

Maybe the fan clutch getting wet and shorting VREF. I think there was even be a tsb on it, though it may have been for the 6.0's

There is a TSB for a baffle that you install on the air filter inlet.

Water is getting in through the side vent. A wet filter flows poorly.

We have a lot of problem here with snow packing in the air filter in winter.

 

Maybe rain can make the filter to be wet enough to cause this concern

 

Take a look on the air filter meter.

thanks for your help guys, it has been a couple weeks and have not heard from the guy. maybe if we get another hard rain he will be in. thanks again for the help though.
