Some may be under staffed with a lot of pieces that give their techs twice the work to get done with tight deadlines. It all depends. One good thing though, it's hourly pay and usually there is OT, benifits and good PTO. Some also offer anual tool alowance. Like anything else there are pros and cons. Aaron Posted September 16, 2012 Share Posted September 16, 2012 I work in a fleet shop now, fixing garbage and recycling collection trucks. They don't smell all that bad by the way lol. I like it. Well equipped, no flat rate bullshit, all you can eat overtime, good benefits and pension. We have the dedicated scan tools for everything we have - international, Mack, allison transmission, etc. (with the exception of that one LCF I posted about lol) We get tools supplied if we like, anything we wear out if we use our own tools they replace for you. If you don't think garbage trucks reek, you need to move to a warm climate. The odor was fucking overwhelming. As for the shop, it sounds like you hit a home run!
