  1. In July of 2016, I became a dad for the first time. We had a little boy. His name is Lucas. About 5 days after we got home from the hospital, we got a phone call. The results of the newborn genetic screening showed that he potentially had cystic fibrosis. After a week or so wait time, we were sent for a sweat chloride test, and it confirmed the genetic finding - he has delta F508 mutation cystic fibrosis. On the flip side of the negative, this is the most common form of the illness, and is the one that sees most of the funding, and will likely be the first one with a long-term solution. At present the drugs currently treating this condition are between 4 to 600 dollars a dose, 4 times a day. Yes. Between 300,000 and 800,000 dollars a year. Every year our CF foundation puts on a charity walk, to raise money for research. I am still coming to terms with the little dude having it, but it is slowly sinking in. With treatment there are a lot more people living with it for longer periods than they ever were, but there are still shortened lifespan and several different complications that occur due to the condition. I've attached a link for my "Team"'s page, and if any of you guys who'd like to donate could do so, it would be greatly appreciated and never forgotten. Thanks in advance guys, it means the world to me. If you need to donate in another manner, please feel free to PM me and I will get some details on how you can donate if you can't do it via the page provided, and you'd like to do so. Thank you again Please feel free to share the page link, but I please ask you refrain from sharing on facebook, at least until the second or third week of march, as we have not told a lot of people, or made a public announcement, just so far to folks we trust. Thanks so much guys. https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/mobile/mobileTeamPage.aspx?teamID=751538&langPref=en-CA
  2. FWIW You can access the engine ECM on those with Calterm and Insite if you know where to get into the backbone network. I'd tie into the calibration and turn all the fueling and timing back about 10 percent and send it out.
  3. I'd do it on my own truck in a heartbeat, but that being said if for whatever reason I'm taking the cam out, i'm likely going to have it on a stand so I might as well check the bearings while I'm at it.
  4. i hope this still isnt broken, but if you're getting that deep in an LB7, put the whole bank, or a whole set in it.
  5. I wouldn't recommend or run it. If it's absolutely necessary, bio that's VERIFIED at B5 is i believe the MAX allowed in a 6.4 Ford has independently tested pumps marked B5 as high as B90.
  6. Cummins guy tried to program an ECM on a motorhome. Bricked it. Eventually, Cummins ate the cost of the ECM. Charged us $80 for the calibration "part" plus around $500 for programming and shit. I had to do all the R & R on the module, and point out the bench harness he was using was powering the J1939 pins. As in, feeding B+ to the network circuits. Yeah.
  7. Fuck Dorman and everything they make. If my options were fix it with dorman or have a non running vehicle, I'd be on the bus on my way to the shoe store. My boss insists we use the shit. I would say probably half or better of the dorman parts we use, I end up replacing again. Even their remote/fob cases are fuckin' junk.
  8. I see a truck that a guy has a resistor (can't remember the value) soldered into the oil temp circuit. It never gets above 90F, therefore there's no EGR commanded. Even though the ECT is 200F, the oil is 90F, and the ECM doesn't pick it up as an issue for some reason. I'd just like to add: Grampy would be proud of you for re installing smog gear.
  9. That's why they have this hand-holding deal now.
  10. I am getting the impression that Ford is getting a lot of complaints from people firing the parts cannon at their 6.0 trucks, since i see a metric fuckton of guys leaving Ford stores, and the replacements are not very good a lot of the time.
  11. To add an update; I'd like to let everyone know that Grampy's wife Deb passed away this week. They're back together again.
  12. As for your original question I'd be comfortable with a sleeved lifter bore. I also wonder if there is any improvements that can be made to increase oil feed to the lifters.
  13. 6.0 would be the best way to go truthfully just for simplicity sake. Or a complete Cummins swap kit retaining the 5R110 with the PCS controller. Or swapping to a 4r100. But none of these may be legal emission options in your jurisdiction.
  14. My torqshift shifts almost as hard as my TH400 with fixed line pressure, and I've never broke a flexplate.
  15. Mishmoto ones are junk and their warranty sucks balls to deal with. I've got a 2yr/unlimited FoMoCo one in it now. (Which has failed once already since May of this year) I've changed the body mount isolators, hogged out the upper radiator mounts to allow it to move around. We'll see what happens. I also dropped to a 10psi cap.
  16. Is it a passenger van or a cargo/ambo?
  17. That's stuff out of the oil.filter housing and stuff isn't it? Not saying it worked it's way there, but if someone set them there to not forget them or something ...
  18. Ernest are you still at Kingland?
  19. It's easy as pie on a van. Add controller modify asbuilt and sunny times.
  20. Spectra. And the ford one that I replaced it with just started seeping in the lower left corner. Fuck me.
  21. I'd document the fact that you were overruled on the proper repair. That shit is going to be EVERYWHERE. You can only do what you can do though. Fuck vans, all that being said.
  22. I never used to sell stuff as hourly when I was hurt and a writer. It's "119.95 for that service sir" and leave it at that. Explain no further. I never booked anything guys could make flat rate time on as a waiting customer, especially since there was great big windows into the shop. Me and another tech smashed balljoints in an Econoline on the alignment rack one friday and checked and set the toe in something like 20 minutes. Advisor comes out and says put it back up and take the wheels off, put them on monday morning. customer is bringing his other car in tomorow for a LOF, and he looks out the window and sees the truck done he's gonna wonder why the bill says 5.1 hours or whatever it was. LOL. Apparently he'd dropped it off at 4:30 and we were outside smoking at 10 to 5.
  23. Did you clean the metal contamination out of the rest of the motor?
