  1. I've used it on mine. It doesn't do a whole lot but if you want to check monitors and clear codes and stuff it works OK. I haven't used it in a while. I have the installer for it on my PC if you want. If I recall rightly it just modifies a shortcut and adds a switch to the end of it. In your windows Run box, try this: "c:program files (x86)ford motor companyidsRuntimetestman.exe" /A=GEN_OBD2F The bolded part may differ on your PC, that's where I have it installed on mine. You must have the quotes in the "Run" window as they are in the line above - or it won't work. Alternatively you could open a command prompt window in that runtime folder and type "testman.exe /A=GEN_OBD2F" (without the quotes)
  2. Oh. So that aftermarket rad I bought? It took a shit. I put another Ford one in it to the tune of $1000 my cost by the time all the smoke cleared. New stats again. I got my money back on the aftermarket one because they couldn't supply me with another one, no stock anywhere.
  3. I wonder if you set your user type to "NON DEALER" on IDS if it would still send the tech logs. Any way you cut it, if some of the shit I have been using IDS to do ever comes across the wrong eyes over there, I'd be fucked. LOL If I was still at the dealer, that is.
  4. I was just gonna say did our ace shade tree guy torque stuff properly or replace those seal kits?
  5. Anyone have one at their dealer, and if so, could you provide the VIN? I can't locate any for sale online and I want to add TBC to my buddy's for him, but need the asbuilt to do so off a vehicle that already has it. I presume the F and E series asbuilt would be different. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I wasn't aware of that on the newer ones. Good to know.
  7. Mine has 221,000 on it, my buddy has 256,000 on his. No real issues to speak of. We are both pretty fussy on maintenance, and neither truck is stock.
  8. I got a 6.0 apart for heads. Something shifted in my back again so it's slow going. Pulled the oil cooler to make sure it wasn't fucked and there was no 6C683 screen in the reservoir under the cooler. So as I'm fixing that, updating the STC, etc, my heads show up. I drop them on the block, and something's not right. My rockerboxes don't line up anymore. Ahh yes... there it is. Someone sent commonized heads for my early motor. Dreamy. Another day back. Ah well. I get paid by the hour, and I'm not setting any speed records lately being all crippled up again.
  9. Like I said, I didn't get a chance to read the whole thing. LOL. I'm just putting together a TH400 for my hotrod and the clearances on that compared to anything now make me chuckle. Gone are the days of ~.010 per plate. My directs (high gear, 6 friction plates) are at .060, forwards at .020 (they are only off in reverse, so clearance here isn't really important) and my intermediates at .040 That being said this thing pulls the next range so hard it feels like someone ran into the back of the car.
  10. http://www.gearsmagazine.com/magazine/view/e77e2ba8-0be4-48d5-81a2-21ebd04ca2c9#page14 There's an article here from an auto trans magazine regarding some harsh shift stuff. I wanted to post it here before my laptop battery died so I didn't get a chance to read all of it - but it was interesting and I thought I'd share.
  11. We work on a few of them. They're pieces of shit. Hate those goddamn things.
  12. FWIW, can't you key the lock cylinder to unlock (OFF position, but not locked) the column, and pull the shifter into neutral from park, then key it on to start it up?
  13. "odometer correction tools" is what you are looking for on google.
  14. If it runs and the EGR isn't fucked up I'd rather flush the cooling system before swapping the oil cooler. I've seen trucks plug up new oil coolers when flushed after the new stuff is installed and flushed. I understand that sometimes this isn't possible but I find it works the best.
  15. I don't help anyone on public internet forums anymore. At some point I let on that I know how to do some things with the scan tool that most other folks dont, and a lot of people got butthurt when I didn't voluntarily cough up this information that I figured out on my own, for them to use for free.
  16. Full lock steering turns at high torque will do this. Typically see it on 2011+ trucks or anything that's turned way up in the horsepower department.
  17. Wave plates are typically used to cushion apply engagement. As it flattens the cushioning ability is diminished and the clearance increases. I wonder if you manually stacked that clutch (add an extra friction against another friction without a steel it won't hurt anything just remove clearance) and left the wave plate out what the shift quality and longevity would be like.
  18. It's $240 to have the double cardan end fixed around here at the driveline shop.
  19. Insite is a beautiful piece of software.
  20. Somewhere on an Internet powerstroke forum he is shit canning your dealer for "not being able to fix it"
  21. Are you using a ford or aftermarket sensor? Make sure the sensor specs out for a truck with a gauge not a light also. Had both situations happen to me before.
