I've seen this phenomenon before, countless times. I have now decided to give this phenomenon a name. I call it Torque average distribution. I have yet to come up with a precise scientific definition. Basically it is this: as long as the sum of the torque of a group of bolts equals the individual bolt torque specification multiplied by the number of bolts, everything is fine. Example. 7 EGR cooler bolts on a 6.7l. 1 is missing and 2 are finger tight. The other four I needed to use my long ratchet to break loose.
