  1. saw a lot of failures in the first generation dmax's but a rarity in a powerstroke.
  2. my cousin's daughter was born with CF. I participate in the walk each year and donate as well. this is a great foundation and I encourage people to donate. Aaron, there is a lot of support out there with facebook groups, chat groups, etc I can reach out and get some information for you if you ever need people to talk to or have questions.
  3. I use this with great results http://superscraper.com
  4. yes gm main login is Global Connect. the service information is called GM SI, technical assistance is called GM TAC, training is Centre of Learning, vehicle history/rpo codes is GM VIS Chrysler main login in Dealerconnect, service information is Techauthority. and I believe technical assistance is STAR cases
  5. 2010 6.4L F350 previously had gas in the fuel system. complete fuel system replaced and tanks cleaned out at a previous location. made it 2000 km's and customer limped it in. cylinder 2 compression is 140 psi. secondary fuel bowl full of metal. assuming the hpfp let go. already fighting on who's paying.
  6. for the cyl_bal pids. is there a published spec from Ford for a limit? I believe 6.4L short term trims we didn' want to see higher then 8 (correct me if I'm wrong) are we using 0.08 as a limit on 6.7's before we should be worried or just go by a difference between the rest of the cylinders?
  7. Wondering if you have a skewed maf sensor
  8. what is the vin number of the engine. I'd assume its a LMM. 07 is a split year for new and old body. lifting the cab is the easiest way for these. quick list of the top of my head: exhaust gaskets for the exhaust manifold to turbo pipes (4 gaskets total); egr valve cooler gasket; t/c oil line washers (x2); oil return pipe gaskets (x2) at the flywheel housing and turbo; t/b coolant pipe washer. I'm sure I'm missing something but that will help get you started.
  9. interesting so many comments saying poor management or management has run off all the good techs, but in the same breath the current generation is accused of poor work ethic and entitlement. I agree that does exist to an extent, but can you blame younger people for not wanting to put up with shit management, poor working conditions and garage labour times.
  10. Keith, yes that is my experience as well with Ford and GM diesels. oil build up in the lower cac tube and a bit of condensation/water but that amount that came out surprised me. Leon's post was very helpful as is yours. thanks for the response.
  11. thank you for the reply. exactly what I was looking for. I thought this was more then normal but now I know. thanks again.
  12. hello, have a 6.4L vin 1FTSW2BR1AEA46827 with gas contamination. replacing the fuel system and during repair found rust build up in the low pressure turbo outlet.removed the lower charge air cooler tube and quite a bit of water came out. approx 2-4 cups worth. any idea how the water gets into the charge air system other then condensation. inspected the air filter and housing. no water intrusion. vehicle has never been submerged. should we be pushing turbo's to the customer. he said he won't replace unless we can find the cause of the water build up. thanks for reading. not a lot of experience on the 6.4L so if they is a basic issue I apologize.
  13. cam bearings never made noise. the only times I had issues with cam bearings was on vvt issues usually. the #2 bearing feeds oil to the vvt assembly. knock noise as stated could be carbon build up and I've also seen wrist pin issues but only on abused engines. think poor maintenance. not a normal concern but have seen it. I picked up both adapters off ebay for a good price. there is a kit I've used for the oil filter adapter. I'll get the kit name and number on Monday when I return to work. but for the top adapter you need to buy the kent moore one. you need way better oil filters then that. sorry to say. what type of oil you using. I'd be using dexos spec oil. if I have an afm issue or cam failure; it would be cam and all lifter, vlom assembly, replace the oring at the pickup, afm shield (if not already installed), oil pressure screen and clean out oil pan. since your that far I would be putting in an oil pump as well. now the thing is the price to do only the lifters and cam is just slightly cheaper then putting in an engine. something to think about. not sure how your fleet deals with that. almost certain the vans don't have the displacement on demand engines. they usually do have vvt though.
