  1. Here is an excerpt from Ford.... Quote: Ford Motor Company reached an agreement with our supplier to offer the 6.0L diesel engine in the 2008 E-Series. The diesel option will again be available on E350 regular length wagons, E350 vans, E350 and E450 cutaways. The diesel will not be available for production at Job #1 of the 2008 model year, August 6, 2007, as production timing is still in the planning stages. Additional ordering, scheduling and pricing information will be communicated to you as soon as it is available. Thank you for your patience.
  2. Generic pricing is entered in the "form." It is intended for the dealer to override the pricing with pricing that reflects a "deal" and is appropriate in the market place. This is for both labor and parts. (i.e. Los Angeles, California would be diffrent than Dallas, Texas)
  3. SrA, You can use an addative like the PM-22-A. It will not eliminate your problem, but it will extend the servicing of your EGR some. Rule of thumb is, if the vehicle has a license plate on it you can not remove the Diesel Oxygenation Catalyst.
  4. Dale, I would assume 300 injectors to go around for over 150 dealers isnt excessive. Plus dealers are still placing initial stock orders and the FADs do not have any history or knowledge about the parts. They are primarily blind to new parts on new engines. They just order alot and hope they sell.
  5. I know its off topis, but....Out of curiosity, I hear person after person state "We cannot afford to lose anymore marketshare." Can anyone take a stab at how much marketshare Ford has lost? 10%???
  6. The contract with International to provide engines in the 250-550 does not end until 2012. As far as the F150 diesel engine, heres a quote out of Automotive News. "Dave Szczupak, who retired last week as Ford's vice president of manufacturing for the Americas, said the F-150 will get a version of the 3.6-liter V-8 diesel used in the Land Rover Range Rover SUV sold in Europe."
  7. Did they try the parts locator? There are alot of big dealers down here in TX and some purchase obsolete inventory from other dealers.
  8. International used split shots in the T444E, DT466E, and the I530E. I will have to find my 2003 engine refrence manual but the part numbers are in there along with the serial numbers if i remember correctly.
  9. Quote: Check out RTTP OVER ENGINE CREEPER TOPSIDER REL6600 REL PRODUCTS INC. $279.95 For those of you that work for dealerships that are CTP (Commercial Truck Parts) dealers, you can get the creeper above from your parts deaprtment. Part # would be IREL6600 and they should be able to beet that price. If you are looking for stuff that you need try http://www.toolweb.com The CTP dealers can order straight through parts online and have it delivered right to the dealership. There are freight requirements though. One for UPS and one for commom carrier. Both freight policies work off of dollars purchased (dealers cost) Tool Web Creeper
  10. I agree GAS.... FYI...There are actually just over 4500 Ford dealers in US and Canada. As far as the comment "spend money to make money," that is like saying the customer is always right. If you are on one side of the fence its great, but if you on the other side its hell. That business model only works when you are a small company. Take Bil Gates for example. Microsoft spent approx 6 billion last year in development. Bill Gates gave more than that way to charity personally. Im just sayng the saying doesnt fit the scale of dollars we are talking about here.
  11. The manufacturers for the Ford addatives are currently working on changing the formula to make it compliant for Jan 1, 2007. It is compliant with the ULSD but not with the ULSD engine in reguards to emmisions. The EPA mandadtes that as long as we are selling the current formula a sticker must be on the product to insure the customer is in the know. As we all know, the way it is worded the customer is in a state of confusion. Ford shipped enough of these stickers to be placed on your dealers current inventory and all product coming form the PDC or WD should already have the sticker on it. In fact if you sell a bottle with out it on there and the EPA catches the dealer, there is a seriously hefty fine (34k I think). As far as the thinking that there is sulfur in it, I don't have the answer. But the PM17A is built with certain attributes in mind such as cetane booster, a lubricity agent, and an injector cleaner.
  12. I have sold most all coolants for years. The biggest problem I see is people think one red coolant in brand x is the same as aonther red coolant. It is extremley rare this is the case. There are ELC coolants in blue, yellow, clear, purple, and etc. The only thing in commom with each of them is the fact they are based off of ELC technology. The other big problem I see is contaminated cooling systems. As long as the cooling system is sealed almost no problems will arise. When coolant does need to be added people just look for any ELC to add to the system. Always keep the same brand and kind in the system. Dieseldoc mentioned that he sees alot of liner pitting in the Cat motors at 400k - 500k. Is this with the Cat branded coolant? Not all ELC's are for heavy duty diesels. In fact if you are purchasing it at any place other than a true truck shop (fliner, international, etc.) then you need to be checking on the product to make sure it is compatible for your application. There are ELC's for light duty automotive applications and then there are ELC's for heavy duty applications. There is a big difference. On top of that each and every brand has a mileage / hour limit to it. Also heavy duty ELC's truly never need to be replaced as long as the system has been sealed and or never been compromised with alternative coolant. All that needs to be done is to add "Extender." The extender is basically the chemical compunds that have become depleted over time. I am no expert in coolant, but i do have quite a bit of experience and classroom time from manufacturers. It seems that coolant is one of the most misunderstood products we deal with.
  13. Larry, Use your 2006 Diesel Sales reference manual. everything you need is in there for the 4.5l
  14. Quote: Automotive News / August 2, 2006 - 6:00 am DETROIT - Ford Motor Company will expand its use of six-speed automatics and introduce engines that are expected to dramatically upgrade the refinement and performance of its vehicles in the next five years. Fuel economy is expected to improve incrementally as well. Ford is focusing its powertrain engineering in four areas: diesel engines for light-duty trucks and SUVs, higher horsepower V-8s for cars and trucks, gasoline-electric hybrids and six-speed automatic transmissions. Here's what's on tap: Diesel engines: At year end, Ford will replace its troubled 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel truck engine after just five model years. In the first quarter of 2007, Ford's redesigned 2008 Super Duty trucks will be powered by a 6.4-liter diesel V-8 with a state-of-the-art piezo fuel injection system. Ford engineers have finally resolved most of the 6.0-liter's quality issues, but the change is being made to boost power as well as comply with tightening emission regulations that take effect in January. The new engine will enable Ford to keep pace with General Motors' and Dodge's new diesel engines. Look for the new 6.4-liter diesel, manufactured for Ford by International Truck and Engine Corp., to deliver 350 hp and around 625 pounds-feet of torque. For light-duty trucks, such as the F-150 and Ford Expedition, Ford may use a 4.4-liter diesel V-8, based on a smaller engine used by its Land Rover division, beginning in 2010. I didnt post the entire article b/c it was off topic about other vehicles and engines.
  15. How much diesel have yall sold? Several dealers have sold 8 plus of these kits since the begining of the year down here. One of them has also sold over 24 6007 engines in addition. All in thier marketplace. They salvaged what would have been a trip to the junk yard instead of the parts house. I have heard several complain that this is not the way to go about selling parts, but if you arent marketing it and promoting it, I foresee it just fulfilling your every dream of failing.
  16. Does this calabration prevent the truck from being programmed (chipped, etc.) Some techs are stating that they ussually can pull the chip reprogram then reinsert it and go. Not any more.....any imput?
  17. I went to a seminar that Rotella reps held and they said the CJ-4 oil is going to be compatable back to around 1994-96 era. You will see alot of oil leaks due to the make up of this oil on older engines. I forget if it was b/c of gasket / seal material or wear, but I think it was gasket / seal material.
  18. The Anti Gel is basically the same product as the cetane boost, less the cetane boost and plus the antigel. A little fuel injector cleaner and lubricity agent in both.
  19. There will be a demo unit @ Tommie Vaughn Ford on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd for those in the Houston area.
  20. Please do so. I would be interested in your article and photographs.
  21. Freeway Ford in Houston, Texas is looking to hire several diesel technicians. Inquire @ 281-588-5000 Max Gill mgill@freewayford.com
  22. I agree gasgasman. These guys want to extend thier oil changes to save money but they are just spending it on oil samples. Im sure there are some that are in the hole compared to the gtuy who follows the manual.
  23. I forgot to add thsi little story about the Real Power in my last post. There is a dealership in Winnie, Texas that was hit by the Hurricane last year. They were out of power for a few weeks. They had a unit with a PTO provision on it and got ahold of a real power unit. They ran thier whole dealership (excluding the A/C) off of this one unit. They started the unit and only turned it off once b/c they forgot to read the directions to lube the ujoints at 200 hours. In all they had ran it for 360+ hours. One word, impressive! By the way, if you dont have much knowledge of generators 12kw aint no small generator.
  24. What is everyones view of Ford / Motorcraft Cetane Booster? it has been out for approx 8 months now and Ford has sold approx 4 times more than they expected to. Does your dealership stock it? Does the Anti Gel perform up to par? Just interested to get knowlegable and informative answers. FYI part # is PM-17-A and PM-18-A. For those in Canada it is PM-17-B and PM-18-B. My company thinks highly enough if the product to let us buy it and expense it to maintinence. We use it every tank. For those that have notice that there are bottles that are identical to the PSD stuff at Oreillys and other aftermarket places made by Gold Eagle. That is the company that makes Fords. They also have the Anti-Gel and i think two other diesel fuel poducts. Same maker as 104+ for gas.
