  1. Well there intelligence shows in blaming the glowplugs. I think if I posted something like that calling our product a piece of shit. I would be forced to look for a job.
  2. Havent done one in a while but I think they pay the same or less that an F-series. I did several in a row and filled out DDRs and was always told it would be looked into if enough were filled out.
  3. Why is that? Is there SOMETHING in the calibration of 2003 engines that are much less stressful on FICMs? I think this has to do with the fact that the 03 injectors all leak a little fuel into the crankcase. They seam to have less stiction causing less load on FICMs. I also think the emission levels were much more strict on 04 and later expecially in the egr flow requirments. Which causes lots of problems.
  4. Last week had 2 of them hotline said Engineering is currently investagting please monitor Oasis for updates...Im guessing recal.
  5. I just had one same code same concern went through the same diagnosis. This tank was almost full and fluid looked milky. Cust denied adding anything that would be incorrect....Only had 3500miles on truck. Talked to hotline about it they said they also have had customers adding DEF fluid to the fuel tank and taking out the entire high pressure fuel system.
  6. I had one with a surge and cam sensor codes with headgasekt failure and a chip. I suspected wire harness I removed chip from truck and it ran good I suspect the antifreeze got into the module causing problems.
  7. Hey Robert I took the tanks off that radiator didnt see much a little casting sand probablly from when the truck was new. But it looked pretty good I know I cleaned the outside of the cooling stack and I think you guys did also. Dosent make a lot of sense but hopefully its taken care of. With this rain coming through Im pretty sure there will be at least a Grand Forks truck coming down with a lack of power. You know how this business goes we complain when were busy and complain when were slow.
  8. Truck came in during colder temps around 30 deg with fan running often. Monitor ect and eot were around 205-210 replace t-stat cust needed truck asked to see if it made any differenct came back about 2 weeks later said fan still runs often. temp same I remove the tin grill inserts cust had road test temp around 200 deg and fan didnt run any more. cust took truck. About a month later cust stated it over heated. He was uanble to bring in right away but is was very random temp on gauge peged 3 time in 4 days. He stated temp on t-stat housing was 300-350 the various time he checked it. but was not pushing any coolant out and fan was running. I remove water pump didnt find any problems. Service manager and I decieded to replace water pump and replace t-stat again, Truck made it about 1 week and gauge peged again, this time cust said it did push out some coolant. I replace fan clutch we drove little over 100 miles with no problems. Cust is not convinced we fixed it. and we may not have. Any Ideas Hotline said if coolant temp was 350 deg stand pipe should be melted and engine should be damaged. Coolant and oil do not smell burnt. No damage to stand pipe Tried wiggle wiring to sending unit no problems found. Cust needs truck due to their busy season. and is unable to leave with us for very long. Have prefomred flow tests that I know of and everything seems ok. I would think if it was low or excessive flow It would act up more often than every 400 miles. This engine is a reman that was installed about 70,000 miles ago. Any Ideas.
  9. Well I do not know who the dieseldoc is I was just waiting for my prior approval on some injectors thought Id check out whats going on over here and stumbled on this topic. I was shocked and Im not sure if that is the attitude of the company he represents or his personal opinion either way it should be addressed. Me and my advisor put forth extra effort for his company as a customer and I believe our whole store does. NO fights were intended to be started.
  10. My though to the round vs oval parts of the bridges is to make up for any possable wear in the valve guides of the 2 valves that the bridges are on???
  11. dieseldoc Im sorry your unhappy but I can tell you that when a Butler truck get dropped off it is still top priorty many other trucks get pushed aside to help you guys out. When we get busy like we have been for the last couple of months it does get harder fit everyone in cause everyone needs there truck ASAP. If it continues to be a problem come and talk to Brad and it will be taken care of in the best way possable Im sure.
  12. I had one just last week. It was an 07 with about 35,000 miles. I remove the filter housing removed the fitting in the filter housing that the fuel line attaches to Used a female air hose addapter the ones that are on the ends of you air tools. It threaded on pretty good to the fitting attached it to the fuel line with warm engine and block heater plugged in I removed the t-stat without draining coolant first to keep coolant level near top of port. Hook up shop air to fitting after about 20minutes I had bubbles out coolant from left head. I only replaced 1 head witch was ok due to being unable to remove cab. And oddly enough I have a 7.3L in my stall right now with same probelm. But years ago I built a Bridge of sorts to remove cups with out pulling heads.
  13. We had one here with the porcelain broken off and stuck in the sleeve we took a long metal rod sharped it to a point and tapped the procelain with the engine running trying to break it into small pieces after a while the whole thing shot out of the spark plug hole. Just make sure you dont have you head over the hole when your doing it.
  14. Those guys came through my dealer one Saturday I was here. All 3 wanted fuel filter replaced the lube guys did it and one of them would not start I looked at it ended up being air in the system that we all have since learned can be a problem. Talked to one of the drivers quite a bit he was pretty cool. He gave me a bunch of t-shirts. He said they were from advertising not engineering. And all 3 trucks they were driving were preproduciton. He let me know some of the problems they were having. He said for a while there was a reprogram every week for the trucks. Along with some cracked exhaust pipes just like what happened to the 6.0l but he said there were changes made to the pipes. If you go to insidesuperduty.com there is some movies to watch during the road test. All the trucks had cameras mounted to the dash and when they were running around the dealer here someone always had a camera rolling. Til the one truck would not start.
