  1. I've found Summit Racing to be about the most reasonable, but with anything there's a price for performance.
  2. Across the entire head .008-.010 on all of the heads. None of them have the "x" above the exhaust ports. I would have thought that this problem would have been addressed better than it has.
  3. Hey guys got a 6.0 in the shop with bad heads. Have ordered in 12 so far all have been warped. Has anybody else had this many coming through the shop?
  4. I've found that most people that own these trucks go to the local fuel station and don't realize what quality fuel that their getting. When we have a quality issue with fuel, the best advice we can give is to inform the customer that when truckers refuel they know who has the best quality fuel and the truck stops are always busy. Thus it makes sense that the t/s always has fresh diesel.
  5. Which turbo are you putting on? The current # is 5C3Z6K682CA. My thinking would be why the VGT is failing, what else is going on with the truck? Looks like you probably need to dig deeper.
  6. Well then there would still be the same problem that Dodge has in common with the Ford's. The transmissions!!! Be careful about the "C" (Cummins) word around here. It doesn't matter what brand we pick they all have their own problems.
  7. Sorry I haven't got back to you, 2 people short this week, it's been crazy around here!!! Will try to get the info/web site for you tomorrow.
  8. Ask for a fair raise, but don't short change yourself either. Maybe you could have a certain rate for basic repairs, and a little better for the tougher job's RE: drivabilty etc. If you're willing to be flexible you'll probably go a lot further.
  9. Good point the best way is always sending the sample out for analysis. But if there is a question of gas in the diesel the flash method is a pretty quick way to determine it.
  10. Keith, primarily I've had experience with the Cummins engines. Cummins says that the percentage is so small that it doesn't have any adverse effects on the fuel system, In the larger trucks if the automatic system is installed they say that the oil change interval can be extended to 525,000 miles or 844,906km with just the filter having to be changed at 75,000 miles or 120,701km but these systems have only been installed on large trucks. I think it would be a good test to see if this system could be installed on a smaller truck, just think extended oil changes and better yet no waste/hazardous material charges.
  11. I haven't come across one yet. We used to take and do it the old fashion way, put some fuel in pan let it settle and toss a match to it, if it flames up you have your answer. But be careful!!!!!
  12. I've read the post about fuel contamination and agree for the most part, but there are some Manufacturers out there that install fuel blending systems on there vehicles primarily the larger trucks and swear by them. It is a system that takes a small % of crankcase oil and put it in the fuel tank, as well as putting the same % of fresh oil back into the crankcase. What does anybody think about this system? From my experience with the heavier trucks it works well, other than changing the fuel filter's a little more frequently it does extend the P.M. interval.
  13. We had one of these 'Rocket scientists' do this but they drained and flushed the system and then had it towed here for a no-start. Still under warranty, We tore it down asked them what really happened and were told it just quit. Had a Cat rep. come down to look at it. Piston 2,3,4 blown to pieces. They took the scrap back with them did a closer inspection and promptly denied the claim,(go figure)When will people learn?
  14. Allen, you didn't say if the truck came with a pto or if you had one added. If the truck came with one the part# you will need is XC3Z12B641AA If it did not have one the part# is XC3Z12B641BA The manufacturer of the idle up kit is Sturdy you should be able to get them directly or get them from Ford. 15. Hey Guy's has anybody had to replace the turbo on a new LCF with the 6.0 yet? My catalog is pretty vague as to what the turbo kit comes with. 6E7Z6K682AA Were on the Pro Quest system. Larry Brudzynski Heavy Truck Specialist Motor City Ford
  16. Keith it's funny that you say that. I'm what you would call a old dog in the business. have done parts for almost 26 years and been around the block. What we need is more of us senior parts/service guys to show the rookies more of the proper ways of doing things. Computers are great but unless your trained properly they can be useless. BRING BACK THE MICROFILM AND CARD FILE INVENTORIES!!!! If needed have your guy's call me if their stuck on anything. Larry Brudzynski Heavy Truck Specialist Motor City Ford
  17. If we really think about this. They make these parts to brake/strip etc. on purpose. Ford does this to sell more parts. How many of you have used the penatrating oil on the clamps only to have the weld on the v-channel pop. Larry Brudzynski Heavy Truck Specialist Motor City Ford
  18. If you pull out either a F4TZ9D930K or F81Z9D930AB these both have connectors on them that will work without the hassle of trying to find them Larry Brudzynski Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Motor City Ford
  19. We sell these all the time, it's a whole lot cheaper than the assy.If you have any problems with parts just let me know. Larry Brudzynski Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Motor City Ford Trucks
  20. I'm glad you got that handled, if you run in to anything else give me a yell. Oh by the way. I have experience in Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Mercedes, as well as the Powerstroke line. Larry Brudzynski Heavy parts specialist Motor City Ford
  21. Hi I just became a member, I think what your looking for is. inj. act. pressure at least 725 psi. If it is than the hi pressure pump is not your problem. Try disconnecting the I.A.P. sensor and try to start it again. If it still does not start then you will have to run the trouble shooting chart and additional tests. If you need I can send you the copies from the Cat manual. Larry Brudzynski Heavy parts specialist Motor City Ford
