I thought something had to be over looked. I have seen about 3 or 4 of those units where the convertor is stripped and I found the first one cause I rememberd my trans teacher talking about this possibility. Dose this mean the "superstar" will be kicking stones Jim?

I would have said the same about the sun gear. but line press. would still be there and maybe some noise. Too bad Jim that you didn't catch the tech before removal so you could check for other manual gear applications, and DTC's. could there be a blockage in cooler or lines?

Been there and broke one. When I was lifting the VC off it broke off clean. I didn't even hear the break. I only found out after the reassembly and the coolant was pouring out of the ground. There parts avalible in some places already. Not too bat to replace.

Was doing a PDI on a sold F250. (sold unit) I saw abuddy of mine along the way and we were talking about how impressive the truck looked/sounded and how tough it looks. He is a dodge man and he though about how nice this thing would be to have in his laneway. On the way back to the shop this truck seemed to hit a wall. She dropped #3 cylinder! Performed diag and had to replace bad injector. Almost afraid to sell this one when it is dropping injectors already with only 12 kms on it! What next???

I like the idea of calling his bluff. But I also don't want to get into a pissing match with him and the GM. Our service managr is fresh off the floor and is a gas engine driveability ford senior who does not belive in training status, he holds 4 specialties and I hold 6.(including auto trans) I don't like to blow my own horn but I don't get any comebacks.(yet!!!) any further advice guys?

Hey Jim, Just a comment about advancing your skills and knowlage as much as you can to be above the crowd. I really take training and studying to heart, to the point of sitting up at night reading anything I can get to make me a better diesel tech. After I aquired all this knowlage and am the only one in my shop of 8 techs that will touch these beasts, I approched my SM about a slight pay increase,(offered a position at another dealer), me SM started about how he could probly get a young kid in here for $10.00 an hr and train them. what do you say to that and what would you do if in my shoes?

Well said Jim! It sould be about doing it for ourselves and the cust. and not Ford. The rewards are good, but the knowlage is better.
