  1. I just ordered a gasket for a composite pan. They didn't send me a new pan.
  2. I've got a 2013 GMC Acadia in my bay now that has extensive rodent damage. So far I have all the seats, console, trim panels and carpet out of it. Working on the dash now. This is nasty! Looking for wiring harness damage.
  3. I pry the core out and never damaged a case. I lube the core with coolant so nothing get contaminated. I reuse the O-rings. The advantage of doing it this way is that it takes 45 min to do the whole job.
  4. I don't pull the whole cooler assembly out. I just pull the egr assembly off the front of the assembly and pull the cores out in vehicle. Lube up the rear of the cores when they get put back in so I don't roll an o-ring. Doesn't take much time at all.
  5. That's good to know. I do have access to the Chrysler scan tool (I believe its the DRB). We have one here at the shop that's up dated to 06. I may have to try that
  6. I understand exactly where your coming from. He's a buddy of mine and he will listen to what I have to say. He has been clearing them when it happens, so he can still drive it. I was just hoping for a direction to go in. I'm going to try wiggling the harnesses while its running here in my shop to see if I cant get it to act up.
  7. I haven't had any issues with my scan tool not being able to read certain codes, but there is always a first time. The fact that it only happens on a pretty hard decel is making me lean to a wiring chaffe issue. I don't have any spare parts or parts trucks around to swap anything out. My biggest problem is the fact that he's a pipeline welder and cant be without his truck for more than a few hours at a time.
  8. I know how it sounds, but there are no codes. I've checked several times with my Solus Pro. They only way it will come out of the derated mode is if I clear codes that aren't there.
  9. I was thinking this morning about this problem. It also has a Smarty tuner and a fuel rail plug installed. He said he can remove the tuner and it will still act the same. He also installed the plug thinking that it would cure the problem. It didnt
  10. I've got an 05 Dodge with a Cummins 5.9 and a manual trans. If you drive down the road around 60mph in 5th gear and decel down to 40mph the wait to start light will come on along with a ding noise. It sends it into what I would consider a derate. It loses tons of power. Check for engine codes and there will be no memory or hard fault codes. If I take it out and drive it again it will stay in derate until I clear the codes. Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance! Adam
  11. I did the same thing with the fead belt.....I did a job where I ghad to take the belt off and when I put it back on I screwed up the routing. The truck came back in for a noise a few days later. When I opened the hood I found rubber chunks everywhere just like Keith said
  12. He has a set of used turbos on the way. I will definatly be checking the oil passesges when I get the cab off. Thanks guys
  13. So any way to tell which one is at fault? Hotline says to just read the WSM.....but the only thing the WSM say about it is to pull them and check the feed and return passeges for blockage
  14. Pulled the CAC tube off today and did another crankcase pressure test and now I only get 2 inches of water on the gauge. Im headed twards a turbo. Any way you guys can think of to tell which one is at fault?
  15. I have been thinking about this more.....could turbo pressure be getting by the seals in the turbo and then presurising the crankcase? This truck runs so good, the only issue is the smoke. No noise, no misfire just good power and smoke. I did get to drive it today on a long hill. If I was deep in the throttle there would be no smoke at all. If I would put around 1/4 throttle to it is te only time I would get smoke.....I could repeat the smoke like that over and over
  16. I got ahold of his truck today. Pulled the lower CAC hose and about a teaspoon of oil dripped out. Checked crankcase pressure and got 20 inches of water at 2000 rpm. I think we are going internal.
  17. Im not trying to sound like a moron....but what is that going to tell me?
  18. I havent been able to get it back in the shop recently. I do know that he has a stock air filtration system with a stock filter. He just returned from his trip with a very heavy enclosed trailer and said that it smoked on almost every pull but ran good other than the smoke. Aaron, If not the superchips tuner, which one would you suggest?
  19. The spec is around 210 to 230 lbft......I cant remember the exact spec
  20. Yeah it has an aftermarket intake elbow with a K&N airfilter hanging off the end of it....Yes it does still have the egr throttle plate.....I will try it tomorrow
  21. Bruce I am using IDS for diag. I will check the graphs tomorrow after I get out of work. Yes 48 psi at the secondary housing under WOT while driving down the road. I will also do a manual compression check but it does run smooth as glass if Im easy on it. I diud check the cmp flange and it was pretty clean. Bucking and a hard miss are pretty close in my book, but I would call it a dead miss. Oh and while the problem is happening the powerbalance screen locks up everytime it misses
