  1. Had a flatbed tow truck towed in Late Friday afternoon. (funny sight!) Anyways, Cust was driving along, Oil light came on then bang. Something let go. I cranked it over, It does start but oil light is on and runs very rough. Sounds like something in the lower end trying to come out the side of the block. My question is if I know this engine is junk, For warrenty purposes, Should I still pull the engine and tear it down to find the problem? We are a level one dealer so we dont need pre appoval for anything. Just curious, thanks guys.
  2. Went in Sat morning for a few hours, Tore down to the hp pump. removed pump and pulled out of stc fitting without any resistance. Could that loose fitting be the cause of all this?
  3. Pulled out pump gears yesterday. they look fine. Timing cover ok to. I'll pull oil pan monday and check the pick up tube. Had to take today off. -22 degrees at my house with a broken water pipe...it's always something!
  4. First thing this morning...Without starting yet icp was showing 180 psi at KOEO??? Thats with a new icp and connector. Watched base oil pressre with external gauge, cranked 20-25 seconds before oil pressure showed, then 10 seconds after that icp jumped up and it started. looks like a base oil concern. Doesnt have a aftermaret oil filter either. While idling icp is at 1100psi ad ipr is at 30.8%...seems a tad high. But on a different note, if i let it sit for longer then 20 minutes, it takes 8-10 seconds to build any base oil pressure on the gauge I got hooked up then it starts. oil pressure regulator spring looks ok. I took out the oil filter and watched as it was cranked, filled up very very slow.
  5. Went to cust house yesterday to dio a no start. Cranks no start. 60 psi fuel. icp only 200 psi while cranking and ipr at 84%. cust drove it with no problems the day before, got in it 24 hours later, nothing. towed in today, Started right up with no problems. icp normal. any ideas? running fine now so kinda hard to do a air test to look for any high pressure leaks. only code is for low icp. thanks for any tips....ipr is normal, something i did notice is allthough it starts its cranks a long time before it does. After I shut the engine off the icp stays at 180-200 psi koeo.
  6. P0611, FICM performance code. We have had 3 different trucks in 1 week come in with this code. One was towed in with a hard start concern. That one had all 8 cyl injector circuit low codes. and wouldnt start. put new FICM in (940 bucks, 3 weeks out of the 5 year warranty) Fired right up, ran great. the two other trucks also start hard but just cranked them alot and they fired up. Anyone else seen this code lately?
  7. Update...Took me all day(8.5hours) removed y-pipe, alt, oil filler neck and unplugged all injectors, took out all intake bolts, lifted up about 2 inches. slid out egr cooler from the back of engine. biggest pain was lining up the oval egr coolern to intake metal gasket. slid in new intake gaskets. and reassembled. worked out pretty good.
  8. I got a job on Monday on a 05 e-series van where I cannot lift the body on this 6.0. Any tips out there? This is my first one and looking under the hood seems like a nightmare!! thanks for any help...
