  1. I have to agree about the CAC tubes and the tightening. I have seen about every leak on the list including a bed plate, but most often it is 2 problems 1: half missing cam sensor o-rings and 2: CAC tubes that have been overtightened, not tightened or just incorrectly removed. I am finding fine cuts in the top hot side tube caused by the clamps on removal and eventually leak and or blow out.
  2. I just did one on a truck a did head gaskets on about 2 months ago... related? I'm not so sure. I will say, if you are replacing the cooler you had better take a deep look at the parts you are taking off. The one I just did there was a 1/16 to 1/8" build up all the way through the intake and down the ports of the head causing a severe intake restiction that was worst close to the valve. The Egr valve was completely plugged as was the IAT. The egr was new when head gaskets done and intakes and all else was cleaned when heads were done. How can I send you some pics? Brad
  3. Yeah, I noticed the same thing... also finding if they stick and overboost, some are blowing the CAC cooler seems apart so when your done the turbo you then have little or no bosst and a lack of power. Brad
  4. We do have a separate web site, and message board but usually get all the same recalls and TSBs. They can be delayed by a month or two because of the language laws here . Everything has to be translated to Canadian english (I have no idea what the difference from our english to yours is except the way we pronounce the letter Z) and French. When we go to look up FSA's or TSB's we actually have to chose between American english, Canadian english or French. Maybe that is the reason for the separate message boards. As far as everything else, we enroll in the same Fordstar courses and round tables. I have never heard of any Ford sponsored incentives directed at techs though and I am told that using the Hotline Diagnostic Tool incentive is only open to American techs. Even when we call the hotline it is the Detroit one. I guess we will wait and see if the same letter circulates up here, and if I see some cash.... Brad
  5. Glad to help. Ours is an old shop tool that I think I am the only one who knows where it is and what it does. I had to blow the dust off the instruction sheet for you. I never even thought to test the E450 I did a PDI on today. I'd like to see if it is true about the factory fuel being better as well. Let us know... Brad
  6. Here is the list: Cetane-Hydrometer: 50_____.837 : 47_____.846 : 46_____.849 : 43_____.858 : 42_____.862 : 38_____.867 : Hope that helps. Brad
  7. Wow, that is great to hear there is some recognition, do you think us tech's north of the border will see any of that cash?
  8. K&N filters that don't get cleaned and oiled regularly also allow huge chunks to pass through. Hold a K&N to the trouble light sometime and you will see why no 7.3 should run one of these filters.
  9. Just FYI, I have two of these things in the shop right now, same thing, blown o-ring #5 injector. The Hotline guy said to me it was all 2004&5s built before Jan 15 05. Another hot tip: these things don't just explode, apparently they can fail gradually and if you have any in that have an extended crank after hot, that you can't find a cause for, look for a torn oring. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif
