  1. With all the re flashes on the 6.0Ls the stickers would be stacked up so high you would not get the hood to close. I don't bother with them or pay any attention to the ones that are installed. FMT
  2. Replace the purge flow sensor.
  3. July 22, 2005 To: All Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealers, Parts and Service Managers, and Technicians Subject: Motorcraft Diesel Fuel Additives Launch NEW PRODUCT OFFERINGS: Motorcraft Cetane Booster and Performance Improver Motorcraft Anti-Gel and Performance Improver The cost of diesel fuel has risen more than 30% in the past 12 months. For every 10-cent increase in the price of fuel, more than 1,000 small business owners and small fleets go out of business, says RoadSTAR magazine. Enhancing fuel economy has never been more important for diesel fleets, and personal use customers, too. Currently no federal specifications exist for the Cetane rating of diesel fuel. Ford Power Stroke Diesel engines operate most efficiently using diesel fuel with a Cetane rating of 40 or higher. The use of fuel with a Cetane rating lower than 40 can cause performance and drivability issues (smoke, rough engine idle, power, and mileage) with diesel vehicles. KEY PRODUCT FEATURES: Cetane Booster and Performance Improver Combats the Cetane and lubricity issues of poor diesel fuel Improves starting Provides smoother engine operation Improves fuel economy Increases power Anti-Gel and Performance Improver Provides diesel fuel extreme cold weather protection (gelling of fuel in lines, filters, and tanks) Combats effects of poor diesel fuel quality Improves cold starting Improves fuel economy Provides smoother engine operation The economical 20 oz. bottle size treats 125 gallons of fuel, approximately 5 fill ups. Customers add one 4-ounce treatment prior to each fill up, based on label directions. MOTORCRAFT DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVES SALES LITERATURE A sales flyer to use with customers is available here. 8. I see the same thing on the fleet of air port bus conversions I work on. The things could be the same year and only a couple of Vin numbers apart and they are assembled completely different and very sloppy at best. Luckily they are warranted for 1 year and 12000 miles on the conversions, so in a little over a couple of months they are out of warranty. FMT
  9. Quote: One person (FSE) said that we would see them in 07, another has said that we will not see them unless Chev or Dodge also rolls out a small diesel in their 1/2 tons. This would be stupid on Fords part to wait until the competition gets them out. FMT
  10. I can't wait to see the pics of that mess Doc. We have a contract with a air port parking lot that just got a bunch of new 6.0 E350s. I cant pull the body's off these so I am hoping they hold up or all catch fire. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif FMT

  13. 04 F350 6.0 17000 miles towed in for a cranks no start, pops through intake while cranking. Has no ICP pressure. Found #1 exhaust has minimal lift and metal in the oil. New engine is on the way and cab is coming off to do it. This will be my first 6.0 complete engine, we have been real lucky at this store on diesel failures but I see this changing real fast.
  14. Quote: Would you guys like a version of those booklets (Bibles) linked right here in the forums for reference? I own both copies. I just figured that it seems everyone else is posting it on their web site, why bother but... Sounds like a great idea to me. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
  15. Quote: I am relatively new to transmissions and I actually enjoy working on them at the moment. At least it's a switch from doing diesel after diesel... Give it some time you will hate transmission work after you get burned on a few of them. I try to stay far far away from transmission work as I can. I can do it but would rather stay away from it at this time. JMHO

  18. You can be who ever you want to be on the phone but I make the warranty administrator make the call. I already do too much that I don't get paid for.
  19. I ran into the same thing on a 6.0 EGR valve and a quick call to the warranty hot line and they said it was covered to 100000 miles or 5 years.
  20. I was looking around of the PTS site the other day and they had a great write up on the 06 LCF 4.5L V6 PSD. That engine has a dual stage twin turbo on it. I am wondering if this is the same setup the 6.4L will use. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif

  22. I have used Blackstone labs a couple of times in the past year just to get a base line on my oil and engine. I change it a 5000 miles and run Shell Rotella T 15W40. Blackstone says to push the oil changes up to 6500 to 7000 from the results of my tests but for $30 oil change I will keep it at the 5000 mile changes for now. My main reasoning for the samples was to check the silicon levels in the oil and to see what the stock air box vs the after market dry paper filter from a Cummins would do, aka Tymar air filter. The levels went down about 1/2 point but even with a good stock air filter that was changed just about every oil change the silicone levels were way below what most other PSDs with the same mileage and oil change intervals were at. I have spent more money on stupider things and will probably take a oil sample once a year from now on.
  23. Liquid Cascade dish washing detergent works great. I had to do it 5 or 6 times and the coolant bottle looked like a volcano erupting with the mixture of oil and water coming out. if I remember correctly I got paid 2 or 3 hours to flush the cooling system using M time and we charged the Cascade out as a aftermarket part.
  24. I have only done one and that was one too many. They are a royal pain to get out and then get the cooling system cleaned. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
  25. If you get a plugged EBP tube instead of replacing it, which isn't much fun on some trucks you can clean it by using a grease gun. Remove the quick coupler off the grease gun hose and screw the hose into the tube. Give it a few pumps until you feel the resistance in the grease gun drop and then remove it. Clean the grease from the tube with compressed air and some brake cleaner. The small amount of junk that comes out will run through the turbo and exhaust with out any issues. If the tube is rusted it can explode the tube but you should be replacing it at that point. I haven't had to use this on a 6.0 but the sensor thread size is the same. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
