  1. Sorry for the late reply. The cluster was the problem. Thanks for all the help!
  2. Ok, thank you guys, for all your help. I did have the cluster appart some time ago. I didn't see anything, but may have missed something. I will keep you posted on the fix.
  3. I performed the pinpoint tests. The light does not come on. I do have a B2658 Wait to start warn indicator circuit open. It looks like the cluster is at fault. My snap on scanner can't monitor the glow plug light on command. I did a glow plug test, just because, and no codes. It's also frustrating that my scanner picked up the B2658, but in code tips, it's not listed. Any thoughts on sending this cluster out for repair, or where you would recommend buying a new one? Dealer? Thank you for the help.
  4. Thank you Kieth. It has an LED, not a twist bulb. I understand how the network works. I'm limited to my snap on modis ultra. Not sure if I can see the command. I didn't see it on the scanner side. Maybe on the global side. I will look at that. Thank you for the pinpoint test. I will keep you updated.
  5. I have a 2005 excursion. 6.0 4x4. glow plug light was intermittent. Replaced glow plug controller. Did not fix. Removed cluster. When I toughed the connector, the light worked. Cleaned and tightened terminals. Seemed to be ok for a while. Truck doesn't get used much. Eventually the check engine light came back on, for glow plug light ckt. Removed cluster again. Light will not come on at all. No issues starting hot or cold. I'm having a hard time getting a wire schematic for the glow plug light ckt. Anyone run into this before? Thanks for the help.
  6. Well, Well, Well! I would never have guessed, That it would still have trapped air....but that was it! Right after my post, I went back to that truck, and decided to crank it one last time. Yep, it started! My only thoughts on this whole thing....it is the first time I have replaced the injectors, and fuel pump at the same time! So I had to get the air out of the HP oil, and also out of the fuel system, but Geez!...two days of cranking? I had primed the fuel filter, and bled it at the heads, which did nothing. Oh well...it runs like a champ now!
  7. Hello everyone! It's been a while since I have been here. I'm back with another 6.0 no start. This truck came in with a rough running complaint. I scanned it, found injector #1 failure. I have replaced a boat load of these in the past, and I haven't had any issues. When I took it apart, #1 wires on the high side of the injector were broken. I replaced all 8, and after way too much cranking, it didn't even try to start. I have 1300psi icp and no codes. After looking at it for a while, I went back to the beginning...replaced the fuel filter. It didn't look like there was a lot of fuel in it, so I cranked it with the filter out....no fuel! Ok, I took the feed line off the (Mechanical)pump, blew back to the tank..no problem found. I replaced the pump. I cranked it, until the batteries were dead. Replaced the batteries, cranked it again, still no start. I tried to look for sync, but our scanner won't show that. I can't even see IDM voltage. The CKP shows rpm...and I replaced the cmp sensor, just because. This was all on Friday. Today, I cranked it for a while again, now it tries to start. It runs for about 10 seconds, and sounds like it's on 2 cylinders. Could it still have air in it? Any thoughts? Now I have a migraine! P.S. Our special tools here, are vise grips and a hammer.
  8. blown99, I have the same problem! Brown everywhere! I'm going to come in on a saturday, and paint one of these bad boys red, and see if they notice! HAHA! As far as this truck goes, when I pulled it in, it was running smooth! I did replace the ICP sensor, which was starting to leak oil through the connector! We did install the injectors here. We lent our fuel pressure gauge to the stratford shop, but per Bruce, I checked the regulator, and it had the old style on it. I have a new filter housing, but it also has the old style. I found the 72psi regulator I had saved from another truck, and installed it. When I spoke to the driver today, he was only able to get 52 mph out of it, on the highway! After I finished with it, I was able to get 62 mph on the back road! So I will see how it does tomorrow. Thanks guys for all the help! p.s. Bruce, do you have the part numbers for the screens at the cyl. heads?
  9. HI, Bruce! I do have ISIS, sorry I didn't reply on that sooner. I will look at the regulator, as soon as it comes in tonight. I will also go after the ICP, MAP, and CMP sensors. I will also look at the filter screens at the heads, to see if they are there. Thanks again!
  10. Hi, Bruce! I checked out the power and ground ckts. = ok. I checked the vpm, looks good on a visual. I replaced the ECM and IDM relays, and cleared the codes, and they did not come back. Yesterday, after I cleared the codes, they came back right away. I changed the throttle pedal for good measure. Road test, still the same. It pulls good when the turbo spools up, but kind of a dog until then. I took the sister truck to this one, for a ride, and it had more power down low, but I think mine pulls harder on the top end. I also had another one in for a clutch adjustment, so I took it for a ride. That one is stronger from the beginning, to end. Same 3 box, and turbo set up. No wastgate assy. My truck still seems to run a little choppy/ rough, but not bad. I think it's over all better, and will be ok for peak. What do you think of any possible upgrades, that I might be able to do to this later on. Can we use a newer style turbo ect? or do you think it still has a problem that still needs to be sorted out? Thanks. PS I did not get a chance to monitor the fuel pressure, or boost pressure yet.
  11. Thanks, Bruce! I did check the two fuses, and they are ok. I will be looking at all the rest you listed. I will let you know. Thanks again!
  12. Hi, everyone! Today I took over a job that has a low power complaint. The truck is a 1996 p1000. 5 spd spicer. vin # 1HTMHABM4TH327364 It has had a new turbo and muffler last year. Last week it has had 8 injectors, with glow plugs, harnesses, and valve cover gaskets, new fuel pump. The driver said it is better, but comes and goes. I looked at it last night, and seems to run a bit rough. Scanned ecm, and have code 224 keep alive memory fault - 615 keep alive memory corrupt - 622 field defaults selected. I dont see the normal small ecm and Idm relays, but I will look again tonight. Does this look like an ECM/IDM replacement? I was able to do a standard test, which set the IPR to 2400+ psi and a cyl bal test, which looked ok. This truck is lazy on the bottom end and pulls when the turbo cranks up, but still not all there. Not smoking, and I did not monitor boost at this point. Thanks!
  13. Yep! And after I removed and cleaned the EGR, it made no difference! This thing pumps out more than the usual amount of black smoke, that you would expect to see, with a clogged EBP! From what I can tell, it looks like a mixture of black, and white smoke! Even smells funny! I checked the fuel for gasoline, and did not find a problem. When I load the motor, I get 17lbs boost, and all the pids seem to be normal.I'm thinking the IPR might be a problem, but not sure.
  14. Got it out! What a MF! Thought it would have looked worse, but not too bad. I cleaned the intake, as much as I could reach. I took the egr appart, and cleaned every part that I could. Its running right now, I will road test it in a few minutes. Thanks for all the help so far!
  15. Thanks Dude!!!! I will check that now, but thinking about it, don't I need a special puller?
  16. Hey, what's up? Ya, engine runs smooth at idle, but when the turbo spools up, it falls flat on it's face, and a ton of black and grey smoke pours out! Doesn't clear out, unil you let off the throttle. Looks like an old freight train! Passed inj. test, and no codes! EBP .83 to 1.09 warm idle.
  17. Hi, Aaron! This is a p1000 UPS truck. No codes before or after EBP replacement. Can not check on road with our scanner. Can I load the motor in gear, will that give me an accurate reading?, or does it need to be moving?
  18. Hi, guy's! I have a 2007 6.0 that was a roadcall today for no power, and black smoke. Scan ecm = no codes. replaced EBP sensor and tube. (clogged) No change, still no power, ton of smoke. I'm going to change all the filters next. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks.......Happy friday! Anyone going to the Lake George car show Sept. 9, 10, 11? I'll be there with my 70 duster HELLRIDER!
  19. Hi, mrbudge! I haven't been able to look at this truck, 1 mechanic just had an operation, and the boss getting an operation today! I am backed up with so much work, I have to let that one sit. As far as noises, nothing abnormal, even buzz tested ok. after I clean up some other trucks, I will get back to it!
  20. Same around here Mbl35. We can't seem to catch a break! At least we're workin though! I'm gonna try jumping the ipr also. Thanks brother!
  21. Thanks for the info, cbriggs! How's things up north?
  22. YA, the truck starts when its cold, and will make most of the day, then near the end of the day, it just wont restart. when this is happening to me, it usually starts after about 1 hour of sitting, but with a long crank. I didn't think the LPOP would be the problem, only because the resevoir was full, no oil light on, and gauge was normal. Where would you put an oil gauge? off the oil cooler? or is there a better place? Also blown99.. wouldn't the truck smoke real bad, with the symptoms I'm getting? The oil would be pouring into the cyl. right? It runs good, and doesnt smoke, except for the brief time on the scanner koer tests. PS I will try to get a gauge tomorrow. Thanks again guys!
  23. Ok, guys! Thanks for the tips. will try to check tomorrow. I forgot to mention, that during all the road calls, I failed to look at the oil condition! So, I did change the oil and filter, and ran it around our shop every day for 3 days. Seemed to be the answer....NOT, it lasted another 2 days, and road call! I replaced the fuel filter housing assy. and thought maybe the regulator on the housing could be a problem. Our mechanic in Stratford had a similar issue as mine, and he claims that was the fix for him. Not so for me.
