  1. another 6.0 ambulance for some injectors and a ficm. I've only been servicing these things for less than a year now, I noticed this one has a reviva engine in it.
  2. The book will have you making front cover alignment dowels out of cut off long M8x1.25 bolts. I definitely suggest you do this if you don't already have a set. Also be careful working around the plastic heater tube that runs over to the right valvecover. It is very brittle and won't give much in the way of bending.
  3. There's plenty of that going around on the public message boards.
  4. Haha I know. I never even got to verify the concern, the truck was missing so badly under load I had to turn around on the roadtest and come back. Even put in my tester ficm with the good calibration and couldn't save those injectors. The truck did run rough (not a miss) after I pulled it in. I stabbed the throttle a couple times in park and it stalled out. Found the IPR screen punched through so I figured that was it. Either way it runs great now. 8 injectors, FICM, IPR, standpipes/rail plugs, radiator, t-stat, blue spring FPR and some new cac boots did the trick.
  5. I just changed all 16 on that early 11 that I shortblocked. The valves are visibly different on the bottoms but other that that I didn't notice anything other than the cracks. I will have my parts guy check to see if that's a TSB valve or the ones I used
  6. Your second screen shot I had happen to our IDS about a month ago while updating. Had to back date the computer to uninstall the update. A few weeks ago I updated to the latest and it's been fine ever since.
  7. Ended up putting a #5 injector in that DAMN ambulance today, SPW. I put all 8 in 5 months ago. Today it decided it didn't want to work any longer. No idea what happened but it was a soft click on the self test. 3 F-series 6.0s outside. Took a quick look at all 3 tonight. First one I need to SPW a #7 injector on. Second one needs a ficm, 8 injectors, rad and it has a hot no start problem, third one needs coolers for sure maybe headgaskets.
  8. Finished my ambulance finally, what a job. There's 2 6.0 f-series outside not sure what's going on with either one. I've been out of touch with reality for a week.
  9. I've put halfshells on trucks that have definitely had whole ficm replacements several years earlier. The one in my truck is holding up well now after 3 years.
  10. 90% of the ones I've done were low miles with high hours. 2 had higher miles 75k+ and they were the ones that I fought up-pipe hardware that wanted to snap off.
  11. I did one about a month ago, went in for the reductant pump TSB and bam! customer pay. ended up needing a nozzle, pump and line assembly. nozzle was all gummed up. Cleaning the tank was a minor pain, I have citrus degreaser I use for cleaning 6.0 intakes that worked well enough
  12. Sold 2 heads, total engine reseal, oil cooler, STC fitting, and a main engine harness on this thing. Both heads were cracked. #4 and #5 cylinders. 5 was really bad. Thanks to the 6.0 tips thread I was able to bench pressure check through the fuel rail and fill the water jackets up with soapy water.
  13. no deal on the coolers, the ambulance is blowing fuel out the degas bottle
  14. 6.0 Ambulance towed in blowing coolant out of the degas. This is the one that needs a main eng harness that I did a nearly impossible wiring repair on 5 months ago. So if it needs coolers I'll definitely quote a harness too. Finished up another set of coolers on a truck, blow it down the road and find out it needs an injector too.
  15. A few years ago I put a CD4E in an 08 escape that MOC paid out $1000 on. We had done one flush on it previously
  16. I had one leaking (not sure if it was coolers or o-rings) and quite a few plugged up.
  17. Maybe I'll be okay once I get some more room to breathe. Right now though I'm struggling big time not to blow my lid.
  18. I did finally pick up the garrett part number I posted previously. Found it on ebay for about $110. Sometime next week I'll tear it apart.
  19. The only chance I have is if they dub me shop foreman and that somehow translates into a higher pay scale for the same amount of work. They broke ground for the new shop today. Even if I dream of 3 truck racks at my disposal I still can't get excited
  20. A decent hourly rate is nice but if you can't turn 40 a week then you quickly forget about it. Not to mention the hoops you've gotta jump thru with warranty right now are almost unbelievable. And none of it pays worth a damn
  21. oh yes, the worst ones are popping manifold bolts off now.
