  2. What is cylinder power balance at idle? What are short term fuel trims? You can do injector return rate test. It is similiar to a LML Duramax and the same specs. Ford does not publish this. However i have done it with success.
  3. Last week
  4. Anyone have any issues with high pressure fuel dropping under load and not setting a code? FRP desired is 15000 and FRP showing 5000, truck lacks power but does not shut off. no codes, low pressure fuel good, vcv and pcv have been replaced.

  6. You have an early build 2005 Excursion with a 2004 model year engine then. Those EGR throttle plates could be problematic on the ones I recall playing around with. But usually a trouble code would set of there were any issues with them (P0487 if I recall correctly).
  7. On the second reman turbo I took it for a drive today to try a few different things it appears that the Excursion has a throttle plate that has a bad position sensor and the plate would go shut while looking for the egr to operate and block off the intake disconnect actuator and test drove way better no air in - no boost - no power
  8. I had one similar to this about 2 years ago, it was a fire rescue unit, I had to do 3 turbos before I got a good one. I ended up cracking them open and the unison ring was warped in the first 2 reman replacement turbo's if I remember correctly. Sounds the same though, I remember having to get it fully warmed up before it would act up.
  9. At a warm steady cruise @35mph under hard accell - WOT - the engine will rev to 3000rpm and hang there boost drops to 0psi until lift off the pedal - WOT the boost comes up and accells normal 3500 rpm and upshifts - This happens after warmup - runs normal cold - tried a Boost pressure sensor- Fuel press is 50psi at wot - EBP 37psi wot - ICP goes to 2850psi wot even at the failure - loosened exhaust at turbo - no difference - replaced turbo assy - same results - HPOP new - was loosing / dropping pressure on accell last month - would build to 1700 drop to 400 @ wot Outta ideas ? I retired working on these things and my former dealership is asking for help - I may have forgotten a few things but not the 6.0's I'm open to anything - Thanks in advance
  10. After leaving the dealer world in 2009 and I'm back. Boy have they changed LOL
  11. I know it's hard to imagine doing something else, but the automotive industry is gigantic. The jobs are endless. It's also a great time to be job hunting. Employers are starving for good people. Good luck in your next venture. Joe
  12. Look after your bodies gentlemen....you only have ONE. NOTHING in life is worth risking or compromising or your health.

  14. That's a tough one, hope your recovery goes good. I am 45 and only had one shoulder surgery so far, I know how you feel about changing jobs. The doctor asked me if I plan on doing this the rest of my life, kind of put me in shock because I don't know what else to do for a living.
  15. The programing portion was quicker than the 22 minutes stated on the screen it was maybe 5 minutes. then wait he 10 minutes. I did use a very large usb drive 128GB
  16. I hear you Steve. Keep going...New opportunities...down a slightly different path.
  17. As I sit at home recovering from my 3rd surgery in 26 years at the same dealer as a tech. It’s bittersweet as my mind wants to keep going but the body says no more. The owners said they will come up with something for me. It’s definitely nerve racking leaving the position I’ve done for 30 years between 2 jobs. I’m only 47. so guys, take care of your body. The flat rate has ruined mine over the years.
  18. I'm doing a super duty, how long did it take for the usb portion to finish?
  19. I had a brief attempt with the tap but I was too scared of cutting too deep. They where packed in way tighter than any others I've had to deal with.
  20. I had a similar problem with one that had a couple doubled up washers. I eventually broke them free with a long bent tip trans pick. Got them out with a 1/4" extension with some grease on the end.
  21. I have used various cleaning tools but gun bore brushes seem to work well. What about using tap and adjustable holder to get the copper washer out?
  22. I have completed a few of these. The ones here went right through with no issues. I will say that you have to follow the instructions closely. I think the completion words on the screen state complete then go away. Honestly I didn't have any issues
  23. Have not had the misfortune of doing one of those yet. Is it on a superduty or escape?
  24. I am doing recall 23C25 to replace the instrument cluster module. While doing the PMI, the FDRS instructs me to plug a usb drive into the laptop and then into the vehicle usb port. It seems like the usb software update does not finish even after 2 hours. Anyone having success with this recall?
  25. Pretty sure somebody reused the washers on this truck, they supposedly have only been in there for 30,00km. Once I got them out you can see where they leaked. Went at it with a borescope and pick to clean around the washers, then was able to break them free. Probably why those 2 injectors got stuck so bad. The 3.5 brush ended up working pretty good for cleaning.
