F-550 Glow plug harness leaking oil?

I a F550 in the shop and by the looks of the oil leak that it is coming from the Glow plug harness. Has anyone seen this before if so how does the harness run on the engine (ie..around back or across the top.) thanks

Yes, and around to the front. They are fairly easy to replace and there is a special tool to remove the connectors, look it up in the service manual, as I don't know the #.

The plug gets hard and brittle, and the o-rings leak, no big deal.

The tool number is 303-1114 by OTC.

It's made of metal and it looks like a flat black candy cane with feet about 3-4 inches long.

Don't be suprised if you end-up pulling the wires out of the connectors. I've had to drill a hole in the piece left in the head and use a small slide-hammer. Not a big deal just tough to access. Make sure you punch the clock & document what you have to remove for access.

As far as parts go do I need to replace the glow plugs too, or just the harness.

If your intention is to fix an oil leak then the harness is all you need to replace.

OK, I need help in trying to find a magnehelic gauge for diesels. Like the one in all the web base training. Or another gauge that is good to check oil and fuel pressures.

Find your 7.3L diesel kit, the gauge bar is there.

There is nothing else in your tool room that looks like it, and there is no reason for anyone, other than a diesel tech to use or have it.

Read your service pubs for info and hook ups.

I would use the WDS for fuel pressure,The guage bar is nice when you need it but it can be cumbersome and accuracy can be questionable for some tests. It is a good idea for the CC Pressure test though.

Told you I was ha. ha. Anyways we don't have a 7.3L kit. Someone had walked off with it. I work at a small dealer that has just changed hands and the guy that owned it before hand did care about it and alot of tools have gone missing.
