Here's a good one for you guys to mull over. If anyone here does this don't take any offense. How many of you guys have seen a tech using a Air Ratchet to install the cables on Glow plug relays, starter solenoids and starters??? In the last week we have had 1 tech do this and bring back a "defective part"(Who is he trying to Fool) and is getting really fucking old not to mention wasting my time. I brought this up the first time it happened and was told to just do the Defective part warranty. Now we are on #3 broken stud. I told my boss it's his money not mine buy I was trying to do the right thing, or was I????? Posted Image

Um, someone needs to smack this guy upside the head. Posted Image I would think that breaking it once would be a learning experience, twice it becomes a teachable moment... the third time he should be beaten with the stupid stick! Posted Image

I have broken one or two over the years BY HAND. It sticks with you. Using an air tool here is just silly.

We went through situation similar to this last fall at my shop. The tool guys were peddling the handheld electric screwdrivers and lots of people bought one. I have one and it is great for dash work, etc. However they have a fair amount of power almost too much power for the things it is intended for. We had several techs using them to put the wiring retainers on the fuel injectors and snapping the screws off. Well the solenoid is a non-serviceable part and requires injector replacement to repair. Needless to say after the second one the boss was mad... after the third one we were told anyone caught using on the inj. retainer screws will be sent home for the day with NO pay. It would sure be nice if every body had common sense.

Seen alot of guys tighten down 6.0l intakes with air ratchets. To me this seems to be a no brainer.Or how about 6.0l injectors run down with air ratchets.Alot of times they aren't tight enough and couple months later combustion in fuel system no copper washer to be found.
