Ran into a good one the other day, 2003 F-350 no start. The IDM and PCM relays would chatter and had no communication with IDS. I hooked up the break out box and jumped the PCM relay to power and everything came on-line. Did some digging and found this:

This is the central junction box. A new unit was swapped in and all was well.

Note: problem occurred when a few too many lights were installed on the reverse lamp circuit.

Does it matter how many lights they added to the circuit as long as they left the fuse at the correct amperage?  Those don't have any common issue that allow water to penetrate the fuse panel, do they?

And there is the rub. You can put a paper clip across the fuse and everything would be hunkydory. However if you start overloading the circuit with a dozen extra bulbs and don't modify the circuit with a relay or three, and monkey around (no offense Aaron) with the circuit protection, then where are you? Your calling a tow truck cause your truck wont start and your down for days and out 100's of clams.
