  1. Air leaked it and tore apart right away when hot. It was the only thing left after resealing the nipple cups and top of injectors.
  2. Thanks for all the tips guys finally found the culprit. It was the right hand side oil rail in the end. I had installed all ned injector top orings and replaced the nipple cups and nipple cups oring and i could still hear a lil bit of a leak only when hot. That was a challenging one. Thanks for all the advise here.
  3. Hey fellas 15 year Ford diesel tech here and i am stuck. Same crank no start when hot concern. I finished up head gaskets and coolers om truck a month ago. Truck came in towed in. Revved up til hot and ICP reaches about 340 psi. Standpipes, Stc, and IPR has been done before. Did the oil rail nipple cup seals and right side injector seals and so far all good. Still no start. Put about 120 shop air in and i hear it on the passenger side somewhere. Question is has anyone seen the oil rails themselves leak? Maybe crack or porous? This right side oil rail has a porous look to it especially around the area that i suspect the leak. Well let me know fellas if you have any suggestions or if you seen a bad casting on a oil rail. Truck is a 2006 F-550
  4. Yeah he had a plug in program. I programmed it with a tear tag calibration and drove it 100 miles but i have a P0281 now and P1000 so i have to clear that misfire continous because now im sure that is causing the monitors not to clear. Hoping that does it.
  5. Hello everyone having a hard time here with this 2003 Excursion 6.0 it wont pass smog. It has no codes or symptoms. I just cannot clear the P1000 codes or get a Pass. I have tried doing the drive cycle perfectly to no luck. I have driven the truck for 500 miles. Ford hotline had me smoke test it and I found no leaks. the vgt learn strategy has passed. Hotline had me program it today using the tear tag incase there was any missing calibrations. I hope that works. anyone else experienced this? Thanks for any help in advance.
  6. happened to my co-workers vcm 1 also. is this fords way of making you buy vcm 2?
  7. Hey I have another problem 6.4 fellas. I have not seeing the P132b before on the 6.4 I have seen the P042F and the pinpoint test for that code leads to the egr valve but the pinpoint test for the P132b leads to the turbo actuator. I replaced it with a good known one of another truck and I still get the same code. When I disconnect the linkage from the turbo the code is not there and the linkage moves freely but once connected the code returns. I can move the vgt linkage on the turbo freely so I am stuck on this one. Both move freely. Is the egr valve code causing this code?
  8. I pulled the turbo based on all the oil leaking from the wire mating gasket. And yup the high pressure turbo when spinning it has too much play. I will post how it turns out.
  9. Hey guys I saw an oil leak underneath the truck and looking with a mirror behind the turbo I found an oil leak between the high pressure and low pressure turbo where they meet in the exhaust. could the high pressure turbo be blowing oil through the seal causing the smoke and the crazy dfp strategy?
  10. Been chasing this one for a while guys. Customer is complaining of intermittent smoke and whistling noise from exhaust. Found no codes on this one. Road tested 15 miles and nothing. Foreman drove it out and came back smoking with bluish white smoke. Smelled like burning oil. I checked relative compression=passed. I found the map sensor clogged with carbon so I replaced it just in case. Crankcase is not overfull. Coolant is full. Seperated down pipe from turbo and found no oil or fluids in exhaust. Intercooler is clean. All short fuel trims check out and power balance with my frp desired at the highest pressure is great. Road tested again and it acted up finally=I couldn't accelerate pass 20mph on the freeway and had maybe 10 pounds of boost at most. Got off the freeway to head back to the shop and while waiting at the stop some bluish/white smoke came out. Got back on the freeway to head back and again no power and only accelerating to maybe 40mph all of a sudden the instrument cluster message came stating "cleaning exhaust filter" for maybe 2 seconds and all power came back. Could it be a dpf? I did perform a ramp up test and found no black smoke out of the dpf. Could it be a cat converter material turning inside like a basketball=seen that in a 6.0, throttle plate sticking? any help is strongly appreciated guys. Thank you.
  11. So for the high fuel pressure it wouldnt be a fuel pressure sensor or a defetive regulator causing the P0088
  12. regulator and pigtail were replaced.. the koeo is at 71 psi
  13. Hey fellas Ford Diesel Tech with first duramax. I have a code P0088 and was able to look at pids and found at idle my actual fuel pressure to be at 12,000 pis when desired wants it to be at 5,300. Someone here replaced the regulator and harness last week but still has a code P0088. just wondering if the frp sensor could be bad. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help guys.
  14. hello fellas. i dont have much experience in the diesel manual trans world but i have a customer with a 6.0 2004 f-550 who is experiencing a cluth pedal that softens when the engine is hot. any suggestions to what may be causing this concern. thanks in advance for any suggestions or recommendations.
  15. finally got back on this thing. The turbo oil tube has a little oil residue on the bottom part to the turbo. doesnt look culprit. The black rubber hose that attaches the intake to the turbo looks like it wasnt to tight on the clamps. either way going to replace both with this 237,000 miles and drive it. Next would be the turbo mounting gasket if this doesnt do the trick.
  16. Thanks for the tips. the feed tube is clean. If i had my guess it would be the pedestal gasket. But screw guessing going to wash this thing and see what i see. I will post my findings. Thanks guys.
  17. Hey fellas just wondering if anyone has seen this. I have a 2012 with 237,000 miles and its a tow truck. The engine valley is pretty soaked with oil around the front of the turbo area. Any suggestions here. Thank you for any help.
  18. Thanks everyone it is my first complete and on a towtruck to boot. You guys helped me make it happen thank you. IMG_1977.jpeg Hope the pic goes through from my mobile.
  19. AWESOME! Thanks for the tips fellas. Only thing i can see being a pain is the alignment going back in. Can starter motor, motor mounts, come out with assembly? And can the down pipe stay attached to the rest of the exhaust?
  20. Hello, just wondering if the chain was mounted on the front turbo hold down clamp only or did you use both. Or exactly how did you chain her up? Thanks for any help i have a complete on a tow truck and want to use this method.
  21. Thanks. Just found the service job aid for repair kit it lists all components. I observed the fuel pump filter and i see the crystals from DEF. It doesnt look too bad. No way of draining the tank and filter replacements on this? The hp system does need to be replace in entirety? also labor for all the work, what do you charge. Thanks again for your help.
  22. Thanks for the help Keith. You wouldn't have to know the Ford Service kit do you?
  23. Hello everyone! Just got my first DEF in the fuel tank on a 20110 F-250. I wasn't informed by the service advisor that the customer put in a 1/4 of a gallon of DEF until later. Came in for water in the fuel and reduced engine power. So i went to replace fuel filters since the advisor said the customer had never changed his fuel filters at 60k miles. I go to change the filter at the pump and the cap cracked when i loosened it. So i blamed it on lack of maintenance and sold him the pump. I drive it up to the customer and the wif light came back on with reduced engine power. This is when the customer told me that he put the 1/4 bottle of def in the tank yesterday and that called and mentioned it to the advisor and the advisor said it should be ok and that it its ok to drive and tomorrow bring it in because it just need filters. WTF!!! Anyways my question fellas, being its my first one, and lets for example believe that only 1/4 tank of the DEF was put in. Can i just drain the tank and replace the filters and wish for good luck? Or are we replacing every fuel system component at this point? btw check codes and had a P0284 in memory. Sounds like this stuff might of gotten into the injectors by now.
