  1. I have a 2008 6.4 needing a oil cooler and I am tired of pulling cabs. Any help would be appreciated. I can imagine the turbos being a pain to pull cab on.
  2. mBL 35 disconnect the ebp sensor at the front cover and see if you have communication after that. I had one shorting out the 5vref to the pcm. I removed the pcm from the 96 and see that the rear cover on the pcm is missing. this one clearly use to have a chip piggy backed on it. Would that cause a problem to the pcm or would the pcm being exposed without a cover possibly get damage due to moisture getting inside?
  3. Hey fellas. I am working on a 1996 F-250 with a 7.3. It came in with a no start. I took the IDS over and found no communication and the wait to start lamp will not come on. I tried to force the calibration and it took it for some reason. I found three transmission codes at KOEO P0741, P0755, and P1754. Drove the vehicle and it stalled on me after about a mile. I restarted it and limped it back to the shop. It dies the minute i let it idle. Got back and scanned it and found codes P0472 and P0344 in memory. Replaced EBP sensor since I have seen them cause a short to vref on the PCM causing no communication and also the cam sensor. Vehicle started. Next day, again no start no communication and no wait to start lamp. Anyone seen this one before?
  4. Well guys as soon as the rear cover came out the bolt dropped to the floor. I really cant see the bolt making its way to the oil pan at all if it falls in the rear cover=there is no access to pan from the rear of the engine. But anyways time to patch her up and send her home.
  5. I removed the lower and upper oil pan or windage tray and could see the bolt through a hole on the last crankshaft main cap but unable to get it through the hole. Now i am removing the trans=grrr, frustation is sinking in. A suppose to be gravy job by noon which is cp. Is going into another day. Oh well time to invest on some magnetic sockets. LOL. Talk to you guys later. Time to go home and get a drink in me.
  6. Yes, out of all the Stc fittings i have done at the high pressure pump it has finally happened. One of the 8mm bolts that held down the stc fitting to the branch tube slipped from my magnet past the rag and behing the crank sprocket somewhere into the rear cover or upper oil pan. I know the pick up tube screen wont suck it in. Tech here told me to finish up the job and turn the engine by hand. If there is no binding then I will be okay. What do you guys suggest anyone experience this. Its a cp job and customer needs it today. Truck broke down from out of state.
  7. Well fellas I finally got it! As ridiculous as this sounds it took all eight injectors. Truck is done! I left the valve covers on with two bolts on each side so that i can easily tear it apart after being hot. I air leaked it and injector no. 4 started leaking a lil icp. Repeated test then it jumped to injector 7 leaking icp. Ipr percentage went from 87% to 27%=which is still high for idle. I didnt care to realize how the customer had installed used injectors to his truck=and must have used a T30 tork socket since all injector hold down were rounded at the torx bolt=meaning he didnt torque them down good enough. I put all eight injectors on at the end of the day with two new oil rail manifolds and that fixed it. This was a man made problem so it made it very difficult to diagnose. Thanks for the help guys and i wanted to share what i found. I never believed in having to replace 8 injectors but this time I had too.
  8. Thanks for the tips guys. Im going at it again today. Will post what i find.
  9. Yeah, I did exactly as you stated Brad with the valve covers with two bolts on each side and ficm just laying on top. I was sure injector no. 4 was puking out with a mirror. So, I didnt chance it and replaced the injector and oil rail manifold and the problem still remains. I will do it again to see if any other injector is failing.
  10. Help guys, I've been working on diesels for Ford since 2000 and this one has me giving up. Its a 2006 F-250. It dies when hot. Its an ICP issue. Once EOT gets to 190 IPR climbs to 87% while ICP goes down to 390 and dies. Obviosly I high pressure leak right? Before I continue, customer has put a oil cooler, high pressure pump, injectors, and all standpipes on his own at home. I started fresh and installed a new IPR valve, High Pressure pump and installing a new oil cooler kit to recheck customers repairs and I also checked and replaced all suspect standpipes. Vehicle still dies when hot on its own! I dont have to shut it off!!! I rapidly air leaked it and found a passenger side oil manifold leaking at a none serviceable fitting(I have never seen that before) replaced manifold=same problem. I heard injector 1 leakind at air leak test=same problem. I replaced the branch tube assembly=same problem. Today I had the valve covers removed and air leaked it again=replaced drivers side oil rail manifold and injector no. 3=same problem. IPR still rises while sitting at idle to 87% and ICP starts going down. Anyone seen this before? Could a PCM be suspect? Thanks for any help.
  11. I thought of that since I have seeing that before too on 7.3. I looked at the wiring diagram for this 6.0 and doesnt seem as the circuit is tied in. I seemed to have found a chafe at the drivers side strut tower area. I rerouted the connector. So hopefully this takes care of it. Wish me luck.
  12. Looking for help guys. I have an 03 f250 with the accelerator pedal sensor codes p2139 and p2140. PCED pinpoint testing led to replace app pedal assembly. Had to wait a month since it was on back order=funny, because I never had one go bad on me. Anyways he is back after 1000 miles with the same concern. Wont accelerate past 3 mph and p2139 and p2140 again. Any help would be appreciated. There is no chafe under the drivers side kick panel area in the cab. Possible PCM?
  13. Thanks Larry=I do appreciate it and thank you. I didn't log on yesterday because I ordered the 6881 part to see what came in it. It will take 4-5 days until I see it that is why I haven't got back to you. I also checked with my buddies at other dealers. You are the one that came up with the Part no. and thanks to Keith for the images. I am a ford diesel tech here at Puente Hills ford, in ca. and anytime I can be of assistance I will. Thank you very much!
  14. larry the 6a810 ab I already have=believe it or not that is an oil cooler=6a642 but has a different basic on this lcf. the 6881 I dont have. do you have a part no. for whatever goes above the 6881. it is a small part sandwiched between the oil filter housing and the oil cooler adaptor=6881. thanks
  15. Thanks Larry. Called a local truck dealer in town=and they would not help. thanks very much!
  16. yes, there is the cover that goes on top of oil cooler similar to a 6881 of a 6.0 and the one that goes above it.
  17. sorry larry I need both upper and bottom oil cooler adaptors.
  18. Need part no. for oil cooler adaptor. The top of one of the oring fittings of the oil cooler adaptor broke when removing oil filter housing. My parts department doesnt have an Lcf parts book.
  19. I also reprogrammed today and went back to see it there was a later cal. and there was. So, I reflashed again and sure enough it said that there is a new flash=what gives!
  20. Well I have to replace a cracked oil pan on a 03 F-550. Any tips or info? Must I remove the engine or can I get away with removing the trans and lifting the engine a little bit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
