    Yes,  #2 cylinder on 6.4 diesel.Came in for rough idle [ not misfiring], found overfilled oil level. drained oil.Put dye in fuel system, trace to HPFP.Replaced HPFP, re-run test, all is good except for high fuel trim on cyl #2 and oil level climbing up. Could not figure it out, numerous contact with tech line, do this test, do that test...blah, blah

    Did manual cranking compression dozen times, got 410 psi on all cylinder. Ford Engineermade me to removed oil pan, found piston skirt on bottom of oil pan. Got short block installed, problem solved!I was told when engine is running, the force of combustion l cause piston to "rocked" inside cylinder bore this can cause some fuel to leak past the rings............so they say.......Today I got 6.7 diesel, did exact same thing, no misfiring,  fuel MASS on cyl 4 is way off, compression is 450 psi, oil level is rising, new injector did not fixed it...tomorrow I will dropped oil pan and see what's up.

  2. Second week of April, 2012 F350..Tow in for badly contaminated fuel. Smells like Italian salad dressing. :D LOL

     

    Tank flushed, frame pump replaced, HPFP replaced, PCV replaced, replaced all injectors, replaced injector return line and fuel filter.

     

    Truck starts, runs great, idle great, but when double checking fuel system on IDS. It failed pressure build up and bleed down more than 10 times.

     

    Tech replaced VCV again unfortunately it still fails the same test.Now the Boss wants me to take over, here's what I did so far:KOEO = passedKOER = passedKOEO Injector test = passedKOER Glow plug test = passed.

     

    On Special Function screen:During High pressure Fuel system test, I notice fuel pressure bar graph is struggling to get specific pressure and the bar graph for bleed down test did not lowered / dropped quickly enough. When that happens motor shuts off and the test failed.What could it be? :whattodo:I have been looking at symptom chart but did not find anything, unless you guys know something.After dickering around,  My only possible thought is the FRP sensor. :chinrub2: (Tech did not replaced FRP sensor)FYI...Customer do not want the truck back until it is fixed because insurance is paying  this bill, once this truck leaves then customer is on their own.

  3. 2011 F350 ...Came in for contaminated fuel. Other tech Replaced everything, pump, filters, PCV valve, and injectors.Got it running, misfiring cyl #4relative compression test passed but I do not rely on it. Told him to do manual compression test.Correct tool number is 303=1515He installed the tool and did the compression test, could not get good reading few times, needle on the compression tester gauge goes up and back to zero rapidly.

    Told him to check compression on cyl #3.Now the tool 303=1515 cannot be unscrewed from cylinder head.What the hell did it happen?FYI.....I went back to WSM and double check different model year,  all got same tool number 303=1515. 

  4. In 2005 I moved to North Carolina then I moved back to Pa in 2009.

     

    This I can tell you for fact, some cost of living in North Carolina is cheaper than living in Northeast unfortunately pay scale is less too. 

    There are no way I can make same amount of yearly earning, and lived like I used to. Like I mention, some cost of living in North Carolina is cheaper than Northeast but cost of fuel, water, electricity and food are higher than Northeast.

  5. well, the banjo bolt did not fixed.

    truck is back with #3 misfiring.

    tech called hotline and they told him to replaced wavy oil rail.

    I do not think it is wavy oil rail, I think it is fuel related.

     

    Anyway, there was a picture of bench testing oil rail and injectors. I could not find it, does anybody know what I am talking about, if yes then please post a link.

  6. :(I am doing one right now, I am so glad I read this post, otherwise I will be pulling my hair out.

     

     

    Few minutes ago I was reading WSM, on radiator removal, the more I read, it is missing a lot of steps.

     

     

    edit:::Just finish today....ain't no picnic.....there are no short cuts, almost everything in front must come off.... 

  7. No amount of reading materials will make you expert on diesel engines.

     

    You are better off by working next to diesel techs and listen what they have to say.There are tools available on tool truck and online but we cannot tell you what to buy, you need to figure out what tools you need by working on diesel.Approx 60% of tools I have are made by me, example,,,heated and bent craftsman wrench  to  90* angle, it is to  loosen and tighten HPOP cover bolts..

  8. I don't recall how many hours but I know this got 87k miles.Truck looks like new and owner took great care. Excellent maint record......gotta give this guy a medal for it.No aftermarket tuner or whatever.

    Little over one year ago I replaced fuel tank, pump, flushed lines and new filters, this time fuel sample is good, no debris or water.Misfiring under load, random misfiring at idle, ...does not matter if engine is hot or cold.I looked at history, always on bank one, not bank two.Last injector replaced was Jan 2014. 

  9. 2006 F550repeat injector failure on bank 1.

    In no random order, Injector 1,3,5,& 7 was replaced by other tech within 5 months.

     

    Now the truck is back with cyl 1 dropping.relative compression test is even, fuel pressure is good. IPR 22%, fuel sample is clean, pump and tank was replaced by me ( 15 months ago). I doubt very much that the wave oil rail is to blamed, I am thinking injector cup or cylinder  head. I have not got into any depth diagnosis yet.

     

    Anybody got similar situation?
