Man!!! This is like pulling teeth. When is the ICP 0.8? KOEO? Cranking? For IPR to show 87% and then drop to 23% - something don't smell right (KOEO IPR is usually 14% - caution, memory thing). FWIW... IPR is the PCMs response to the ICP reading... Just so we know, what are SYNC, FICM_SYNC and FUEL_PW showing? While cranking....
-
And IPR... enquiring minds want to know...

Or any scoring that might indicate a lack of lubrication (aka filling with gasoline and doing a half-assed, cheapy repair).

No... for many years there have been things that us peons didn't get to see... you would have to become a "supporting member" to see some content. This is mainly things in the "fix database"..... FWIW, the fix database has been a "pay to look" thing since the '90s. I almost became a supporting member until a help request was e-mailed... "Do I have to remove the steering wheel to replace the turn signal switch on a 1979 Econoline?". Esoteric questions I can handle gracefully... Other questions (this example included) make you wonder if the asker is well suited for his chosen venture. FWIW, I firmly believe that iATN isn't checking credentials very well. In a misbegotten quest for "hits" I think they are allowing civilians in in high numbers (a high number of help requests begin with "this is my own vehicle".)

OK.. this is in the "tech help" section. You need to be a "dues paying" member to read these things. Back in the 90s, iATN was a group of techs trying to help each other. Today it has become a poor mans "magic bullet". Too many "techs" (quotation marks intended) use things like this as a substitute for shop manuals, skills and training.

While this might seem better suited for the TSB-FSA-SSM forum, it might get better "viewage" here in the 6.4 forum. Ford is, once again, "adjusting" SLTs.

You are looking for "tappet" wrenches. Extremely thin (but they can't handle a lot of torque), I believe these are available new and in metric sizes.

What forum was it in?

I can see that you might not be a big fan of Kevin Bloody Wilson, either

New Riders of the Purple Sage has always been a personal fave... But there's always these guys...

Changed a NOx sensor just the other day - we are now up to revision "F" in the part numbers.

Our bandwidth is maxxed out so internet sourced tunes are no longer possible. Up until then, my choice would be 96.3 in Edmonchuk or 60s on 06 on Sirius. When it was left to me I would try to mix things up to a point (wireless speakers for all to hear). If I got too much lip, I would threaten to bring in my George and Tammy CDs. For some of this newer stuff I do have to say I may not know music... but I do know shit when I hear it

In order to stop a vehicle, the police need "just cause" (no, not 'just 'cause' you think so)... As long as the driver is obeyng traffic laws and there are no obvious equipment violations... well, what can I say? As for impounding a vehicle? I know we don't have the authority. We can insist that the only way it leaves our lot is on a hook... once it is on public property, it's out of our hands. The guy can have the tow truck stop and unhook it as soon as he is off our property. I do several different flavours of safety inspections... I take these very seriously (the government can revoke my privilege of doing these inspections) - tire shops are a big problem at times.... many don't seem to own a torque wrench and too many use valve stems and even tires inappropriate for the application. Sometimes, though, we can get caught up in our own exuberance... we do the work requested and, as we are collecting the money, we tell Mister that he shouldn't really drive the car that we just "fixed".

BOA has worked as it is supposed to every time I've tried it....

Hey!!!! Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean I'm not being followed.... -
What I like the most is telling the customer that Qwikee-Loob threw away his $90 oil filter cap. There is one chain store that I know of that tells customers that the cloudy looking diff fluid that Ford is using is "temporary" fluid. I may have mentioned, on ocasion, that these guys are only working there until McDonalds accepts their application...

Another tech diagnosed a reductant injector... truck had a P20E8. I replaced the injector and went to the PC/ED to see if there were any special considerations... clearing a strategy or calibrating an output.... I followed the other techs trip through PPT RK as best I could and found a classic example of flat rate reading. Step RK7 states "For DTC P208E ~ replace reductant injector~ For all others ~ replace reductant pump ~". Remember - this truck had a P20E8. Anyway, after the injector replacement, the KOER returned a P2A01 along with the P20E8. Replacing the pump fixed it.

IIRC, the recommendation is 4 Gig. Our shop has a dedicated thumb drive that we keep in a secret hideout with the required cable since the Ford recommendation also states that the thumb drive must be blank. Having said that, I carry a 16 Gig in my pocket with the coffee table books, various documents, a few hundred favorite songs and a couple of amusing pics, vids and PPSs. I also use it when updating our IDSs (download the update file only once and share it across all the laptops that need it). FWIW, not much sense in getting picky about thumb drive size since you can generally get a 16 Gig on sale for well under $20.... and that's in CAD.

Like everyone else, the number was low but memorable. Maybe a half dozen modules in one year. Just a few percent but it did introduce me to the Ford module version of "shit happens". No reason to get excited... And yes, restarting module programming is common enough to avoid raised eyebrows - anyone that has endured SYNC reprogramming can attest to that.

"I’m sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing this concern, and I would like to assist. Please message me with your VIN, approximate mileage, and dealer name and I will escalate this for you." This can be read so many different ways by different people. As the message stands, to some this indicates that Ford feels that dealer techs are inadequate and they will step in and "make things right". Requiring the dealer name... for a concern to get his far, one would expect that hot line has been already contacted. I initiate hotline contacts quite often when a fix is not easily performed. Building a paper trail can be an inportant consideration - if for no other reason than ensuring a warranty claim is paid. I get the feeling that, at some point in the process, Ford and the customer may come to some agreement that will have me do something I don't go along with and might even put me in a position where a claim might be denied (hotline can tell you what "they would do" but that doesn't mean warranty will pay for it). I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst... Is this an honest attempt at customer rapport? Or is this a cheap way to spin doctor some shit? -
What... is everybody all out of deja vu? Back in 08 I can recall losing a few TCMs during a reprogram... TCM erase procedure would appear to go OK and then the worlds orbit would change. I don't think Ford ever did give us a clear cut answer (other than mentioning vehicle battery voltage and IDS voltage) for the concernns. Just as suddenly as they happened - they stopped And now they may be back. Why? Dunno... But we do need to interact with Ford if we are to find a solution.

Not sure how many saw broadcast message 3157... I wont post it here (give a man a fish and he will eat for a day - teach) because this is something to read while we have our morning coffee.... The whole idea behind the reflash was to find trouble before it gets spendy. That we are going to see more codes generated goes without saying. Personally, I have a problem with the term "false codes" but nuisance codes might be expected as they refine the criteria that triggers a code. Sabotage? Skipping our meds , are we? FWIW, I reflashed my kids truck and the damned thing keeps generating a "false" P0297.

HEC is Hybrid Electronic Cluster (Instrument Cluster).. Since your code hasn't returned one can temporarily "assume" that it might be something transient or nuisance. Your P1000 isn't really a code in the truest sense. We generate those whenever we clear DTCs and they wont go away until all the continuous monitors run their course and deliver a "pass". When I see a P1000, I get snoopy and look at CLR_DIST (the mileage traveled since the code was cleared). There's a good write up on the diesel engine monitors in the PC/ED Section 1. Assuming this is an early build motor (ICP at the back under the turbo), I've seen a lot of funky ICP sensors. These can all manner of grief and do it intermittently. Do the biased sensor check (KOEO voltage) first - it's quick, easy and non-intrusive. You see the odd funky ICP sensor on late build engines but not with the regularity of an early build... If it does become a non start, there are several PIDs you can monitor that will get you looking at your problem area. These are listed in the PC/ED Section 4 under the "Hard start/no start" heading.Step 10a through step 10i pretty much cover anything that will keep the engine from starting (other than low compression concerns). HTH.... I am also assuming that you have access to the online manuals?

Maybe work out a deal where they pay the sub?
