  1. I have seen that same thing. Definitely not picking on you.

I have changed those crankcase vent filters on a few Cummins 6.7's. I have had the hot side CAC pipes loose on several and I haven't found any oil residue. Their crankcase vent system still seems to not poison the CAC.

  2. "If crankcase blow-by is higher than normal these gasses can also coat the inside of the intercooler which lowers it's efficiency."

On Ford diesels that oily reside prevents internal rust in the intercooler and provides a telltale in the manner of refrigerant dye that enables locating leakage.

Brake squeal is an audible warning to pedestrians in case they are text-walking and approach the curb.

Feces is odorized so no one attempts to eat it thinking it is a Tootsie Roll.

BMW drivers need no prophylactics as their personalities assure no reproduction occurs. (I own a BMW....)

Shall I explain any other phenomena?

  3. Does Alliant change the spool valves and use the revosed solenoids with the closed end relief slot? (for 6.0 injectors)

I'm scared to use anything but Motorcraft 6.0 injector since no one will own up to what they replace and update in their 6.0 remans.

  4. I keep trying to get a job as a CEO so I can afford things like that. I have the skills necessary, I can fire workers and cut the remaining workers' wages so the stock price shoots up and boosts my CEO bonus. What am I doing wrong?

I guess I could change my goal. I will just try to be a service manager. I can cut back on use of shop supplies by making techs get a manager signature for any needed general supplies, fire porters and get the techs to clean the shop taking away from their available time to do billable work, and starve my experienced techs by hiring unskilled low wage techs and giving them ALL the better paying repair jobs and having the experienced guys bail them out when they mess up. I know this last plan seems to work as it repeats all too often.

  5. I completely understand snap to connect fittings in an assembly scenario. Easy, no tools, no threads to damge, nothing to overthighten, and feedback(click) to know that is connected.

What I don't understand is the variety of styles. I am not aware of any on any make that do not work and stay sealed. There are some with plastic clips that do age and crack.

The fittings in this thread are some of the worst from a servce standpoint and they hold dust and dirt too readily.

Jiffy-Tite style don't seem to hold any advantages either other than for tool sellers to have yet one more thing to sell.

The lock spring style as used on a/c lines hold and are easier to get crud out of if it collects.

  6. "I get complained about having the motor running too fast if I do a koer test on a 6.7. And I take them outside and do that or the other retards I work with complain about the smell in the shop."

I guess you work with a bunch of celibate techs. Surely the sound and smell of coitus also bothers them.

  7. That same PSD would fire you for walking out the door with $300 cash wouldn't he? How is it his failing to get reimbursed for what is due is not the same as stealing from the owner of that store? If he has you work for free he is preventing the dealer from collecting for your time spent? Take flat rate pay out of this and he would be fighting for the time to pay you he is not getting paid for. The dealer principal/owner needs to be the one taking this to the manufacturer.

  8. That makes as much sense as having the janitor stitch your abdomen shut after an appendectomy because the insurance company CEO wants a bonus and can't pay anough for the doc to do it.

If they want it apart and that is part of the process then it is paid for. Period. Otherwise they should accept it piled into crate and the lid thrown on.

    BULLSHIT on that auditor's statement.

His statement is COMPLETELY equal to, "if a vehicle comes in a few thou over milage then just add that line to an RO on a vehicle just a few thou from going out of warranty". Or, "send in some false rebate claims to cover it"

They have the power to avoid these costs: make the product better. The gamble of shaving a few bucks off each engine carries the risk of spending thousands on each that fails.

  9. I have seen fluctuating oil pressure at high idle (1500-2000 rpm) on most 6.0's I have ever checked. These were trucks with no oil pressure related problems. I will measure oil pressure for several reasons but always when I have one that has the intermittent or leaking oil pressure switch causing oil light to come on. I checked one today and it was running 55-60 psi hot @ 2000 rpm but the gauge would wiggle a bit and drop to 45 and then back to 60 and settle and then bob up and down again.

I guess I need to consider suggesting repairs on these. My suspicion is bypass valve wear in the oil filter housing base.

Anyone got experience with this before I throw money and time at it?

I did look at oil pump relief valve and it is OK and spring is same height as new spring. No marks on valve piston either.

  10. While they are at this active sound cancelling and active sound enhancement biz I would like to request that they add ANC for farts. I would like to fart in a vehicle full of passengers and not have to apologize. Silent ones would leave everyone in the truck trying to figure out who did it.

  11. That is a great cross as each breed is a great dog on its own.

Advice from someone with a 7 month old golden and two 20 month old great pyrenees: put up all the shoes you like. and garden hose. and brushes. remove mudflaps from truck. ......
