  1. This company does the whole body yellow when they buy a truck. Even though they just do the outside its amazing where overspray gets to
  2. We're gonna have to change the name of this place to the "I do it all" technician society
  3. Today I was the recipient of the golden DPF award. So many I need to thank...
  4. You know the schrader valve on the fuel line coming from the 6.4 fuel cooler? Steal that line off a core engine, I promise no one will miss it. Cut off and weld the line shut leaving the banjo and the schrader in place. With a spare banjo bolt and 2 washers you now you have a 6.0 fuel test port adapter.
  5. I think the 75w-90 is going away. I do believe my parts guy did mention that
  6. Last one I did I thought the same thing about maybe being a loose pump gear. What I did find was the VCV connector half unplugged. It did not code either
  7. Did I mention I'm the only tech in the shop this week that has a drivers license?
  8. Where did you see that it is discontinued? Yes the part number did change a little while ago but that may have been with the new CK-4 spec. Also only the 5qt jug changed part numbers, not the 1 quart bottle. This was in the US at least.
  9. I have replaced a lot of swash plate pumps in the 03 to early 04. If it has no leaks and base oil pressure is okay then put a pump in it.
  10. I have seen an injector cup put oil in the coolant but literally oil was volcanoing out of the bottle because it was high pressure oil. Other than that I couldn't say
  11. I wound up with a customer pay rad, rear pads and pinion seal on a 12 F-250 and an EGR cooler, evaporator core and some EGTs on an 11 F-350.
  12. Nothing in my bays and I don't see anything outside either.
  13. I wonder if the previous shop used new nuts usually the spring tension is weak or the teeth have wear. The right nut had chisel marks on it and the left nut had nothing. I do believe they weren't equipped with the knowledge or the tools to do the job properly.
  14. I put a spark plug insert in a 2v 5.4, finished up tires and an alignment with shims on a E-250 cutaway and put a rear hub on a F450 that someone left loose during rotor replacement (200 miles ago). Lucky the hub didn't damage the axle tube, it wouldn't have been much longer
  15. If the welds are sealed up it won't leak carbon but any remaining carbon in the core could get into the cooling system
  16. About 6-8 months ago our asset kid bought an 06 F-250 6.0 that's been slowly turning into a project. It came with a whistling turbo so we took that off and put on a built turbo I still had laying around. I also fixed a leaking up-pipe at the same time. Then a few months ago I was back in it again for a #8 injector that went south. Now yesterday I tore basically the whole high pressure system apart looking for a leak. Started out under the right valvecover since I hadn't been there before. #1 injector was leaking a wee bit but not much. Then I went to the high pressure pump which I found had been replaced at one point (orange seals). Nothing there either so I air checked right at the branch tube and it started blowing hard from under the left valve cover. Wound up finding a eroded away injector seal on #2. This truck has 5 ford remans and 3 unknown reman injectors. It got those 3 unknown brand injectors replaced.
  17. I use the Stanadyne lubricity additve mixed with PM-22 (or 23 in the winter) about 50/50. I have also used Stanadnye performance formula but truthfully I can't tell a perfomance difference between any of them. I do believe the lubricity additive quiets the injectors down a little but I can't say for sure.
  18. I think mine was a 14 too now that i think about it. I have done a few warranty fuel systems on 15s though so we're not in the clear yet haha. I run lubricity additive in mine religiously
  19. Have an 09 F-550 v10 that's had ongoing fuel pump issues due to debris in the tank from a leaking filler neck I nailed down last time it was here. Now it's back for a long crank cold and it lets out a big puff of smoke when it does finally go. Tank is clean this time but the pump took another dump. New pump brought the pressure back but it still fails the leakdown test. Unplugged the injectors, pulled the rail up and damn near all the injectors are leaking fuel into the intake ports. Fuel pressure will leakdown to zero in minutes and I bet overnight air gets into the fuel rail. The little one second prime at koeo isn't enough. Put 10 injectors in it and the leakdown was 10x better. It basically hit 45psi and held. I think I got this one nailed down. Monday I have to do a left side manifold and extract atleast 4 broken studs.
  20. I just got totally beat up by a bad battery on a similar model year F-150. Cust insisted it was a Parasitic draw, we said no it's a battery. He brings it back a month later, claims the battery was replaced and it's still dying overnight. He basically lied to us about the replacement
  21. I had one. I wanted to call contamination but absolutely could not prove a thing. Mine was a 14 or 15.
  22. Jeez that one is really coked up. That's a canidate for a total intake removal and cleaning plus addressing the EGR cooler while you're in there. Don't forget the oil cooler and cleaning the turbo too. I have seen many EGR cooler failures accompanied with a badly rusted up turbo
  23. When I worked at Lincoln a 30k was an oil change, rotate, air filter, fuel filter and an induction service. I forget what they paid but everyone loved them. It's amazing how easy hours seemed to come that way That was back when cars had fuel filters too
