  1. I need a 4 pin logic board actually edit - mmmmm how much for the 7 pin ficm? I could always use it as a core
  2. send it to me! I'm looking for a spare logic board
  3. Got a 10 edge with the tranny out. 5th gear start, reverse is fine. Had a forward clutch code in it. Found the forward hub sun gear weld broke. No burned clutchs, no metal contaminiation. This may be the smallest warranty repair I've ever done on a teardown trans but I've gotta wait for the hub to come in now. Did a bank of glowplugs and a RH harness in a 6.0 today. #1 plug showing 183 ohms. Customer scanned for codes and was worried about it. edit why do I have to be so damn stupid all the time. For those of you that saw that disregard
  4. Not to change the subject but bulletproof diesel is now offering their own in house built half shell. They are built from scratch so no core charge. I've had a couple oem half shells come my way because these guys don't need them anymore. You'll be able to tell if one of their halfs were installed. The outer case is billet aluminum and quite pretty.
  5. There predicting once it's ashore it'll head our direction. We shall see
  6. Our other tech is buried and I have tomorrow off. Finally the tables are turned Today I put an EGR valve and a fan clutch in a 10 F-450. To start the valve pulled effortlessly out of the housing. The stator was hacked up for a v-mac compressor and the clutch slid right out in the hacked up area. Too easy! A 2011 F-250 gasser got towed in and it's pouring tranny fluid out from the bellhousing area. I guess I'll look at that on monday.
  7. Would anyone on here be able to get me a good price on a couple halfshells? I will provide cores first. Our international dealer is about an hour and a half away.
  8. I'm still fucking with that 13 escape of mine on and off. Ford bought the vehicle back but they still want me to try and fix it. it's getting a PCM next, then possibly an engine harness. Last time around it threw 55 module communication codes related to the HS network. It's so damn intermittent I haven't caught it in the shop in a month atleast. Right now doing standpipes, dummies and an stc on a 05. came in as a no start but just like the last 3 no starts (I couldn't verify) it fired for me this morning. IPR screen was trashed for some reason or another. Cust has a bulletproof external oil cooler on it. Lovely how that large oil line is right in the damn way when you're trying to weasel the turbo out. So I had to re-invent turbo removal on this one.
  9. let us know if they are "black onyx" or victor reinz gaskets. There have been many repeat failures associated with these recently.
  10. I feel the same way. I used to be a "car" guy, now I seriously couldn't care less. My car with the cam it had would always throw lean codes at idle from the overlap. I had lean codes and about 20 other DTCs programmed out of it.
  11. no deal. I put nice blue casters on it today The sheet metal panels aren't fit yet. They'll be sunken a little bit once I grind them down
  12. want more pictures of my cart? doing a 6.4 horizontal cooler, primary belt tensioner and some other stuff in between honing my fabrication skills
  13. I forgot to take my focus electric web course and may have let all but a few certifications lapse for a week or so. Oh well, the world didn't end
  14. I quit 2 weeks ago but I was quickly talked out of it.
  15. still really slow so I'm building a running gear/cylinder rack for my MIG. I want it to be large/sturdy enough to hold 2 machines and 2 80cu/ft tanks of shielding gas. I also built the rolling work table below it
  16. Our training center in Pittsburgh recently closed up. No idea what the reasoning behind this is. I went to a few classes where I was not only the youngest guy but also the only senior master. There are plenty of techs out there that don't have all the certs. I also noticed there are no up and coming technicians (like I'd consider myself). I graduated ASSET 2008 with 8 guys and including myself, only 2 are still with ford.
  17. mmmmm, I see a lot of stuff on top that wouldn't have to be removed with the secondary rad and condensor out of the way. The fan shroud and everything attached to it can stay.
  18. you wouldn't believe how many people try to agrue with me the fact that a failed egr cooler will put coolant in the oil. Is it that hard of a concept to grasp?
  19. Not all 6.4s have a wear sleeve. I've changed seals in a few 08s that definitely did not have a wear sleeve. Not sure when they started coming with wear sleeves. The boot being ripped is telltale cab off or trans removed. Changed a few of those too.
  20. A little while ago I read something on the FMC boards about a sleeve coming loose from the degas bottle and lodging itself somewhere in the cooling system. I never thought too much about it until today. Anyone know how far this thing can travel or what concerns it might cause if it ends up somewhere it shouldn't be? Is it possible for it to make it all the way to the front cover? This bottle was in my truck until today.
