  1. Quote: k i did a small 2 gal mix last night and ran 5gal veggie and 5gal diesel.. seems to be running pretty good. the only thing im conserned about is the fuels a little thick... i did 5 gallons veggie, mixed with kerosene, reg. unleaded gas, diesel-kleen and dse additive.. Question???? You put all this crap in the tank??? I think I would rather spend the $3.00+ gal. and be secure that I would start tomorrow.
  2. Quote: Keith I was just talking to my wife and Pocono just came up, we would like to take a trip up there sometime, hmmm race weekend would be good for me...Her I don't know about yet. Does it matter??? GO DALE JR 88 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif
  3. Okay guy's here we go...My Dakota's lease just ended. I am driving my little Saturn SL2 right now. I'm not going to lease again it is costing me to much($3500.) mileage when I just turned it in. 60 miles each way every day, I'm going to buy a truck but want a full size. from the experience I have with Ford it might cost to much just to own it,(Ball joints,4wd parts,E40D transmissions, brakes) should I go on...All the problematic parts and service that I have seen thru-out the years, I would like to buy a Ford but am hesitant... Any suggestions???
  4. Just had my customer call back, was very impressed with what they came up with as to a kit, and I am as well. They come with everything, don't have to call the dealer for any gasket or o'ring they have been very thorough on these kits. Every part is tagged and well packaged, this kit is well put together.
  5. Sam the question I have does your customer usually have full tanks or partially filled where condensation can form in the tank? If it forms on the top of the tank it won't always drop down into the fuel, which could be the reason for the comebacks.
  6. Sucks when one jumps up and bites you in the ass. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
  7. Quote: I have a question! OOOOH OOOOH! Pick meeeeee! ME! If there were no filters installed then how did fuel pass through the spring loaded inlet valve on the fuel pump and the fuel filter stand pipe? Keith I think this was the best question we have had here on the forum to date. By the way you do look a little like HORSHACK...
  8. I think the key factor is. If our customers were upfront with us on the aftermarket add-ons we wouldn't have as many problems as the ones that try to hide the fact that they have it installed on their vehicles. At least we would know how to deal with the issues as they come to us, and not have to start from scratch with diag's. We all know the common problems with the6.9,7.3,6.0 and are learning the 6.4's. My boss just sold a Superchip to guy with a 08 6.4 today, my boss asked him to call him back and let him know how it went and see what improvements if any there are. My boss has a Duramax and has the Intake system,Superchip and a exhaust on his truck, he has no improvement on mileage when he drives it, but when his wife does sees a 2-3 mpg increase....I think it may be who drives the truck and how it's driven we may want to look at....Let's face it, we all like to get up to speed as quick as we can but bitch when our mileage stays the same or goes down... The guy's/girls buying these trucks and installing the performance parts want more than Ford has to offer, Here's a thought..Why doesn't Ford or Nav. have a performance group the way the gassers do( SVT ) Don't forget the guy's with the high gears(4.77-5.10)in the rear that bitch the most about the mileage. It's a work truck deal with it. I don't blame the A/M companies for the failures, but I do blame the end users because they don't fully understand what the performance parts will do to the longevity of the vehicle. They understand what the A/M companies tell them but drive it harder than before it was installed. If I bought a Lightning and drove the piss out of it and drag raced on the weekends, with the upgrades through SVT, do you think that you would cover something for WARRANTY if it was ABUSED I think that's what we are looking at right now. JIM OR BRUCE OR KEITH ANY THOUGHTS??? PLEASE NO MORE PISSING MATCHES We are here to help each other not a who's responsible like the public forums out there, If that's what you want to do...GO BACK THERE /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/fouet3.gif
  9. Stewart Warner has gauges for everything, I prefer the Marine gauges because they seem to be better made. They are stronger than the basic gauge, better sealing and shock resistance. Right now I have the complete marine series on order for my Glastron GT-150. The only thing I have a problem with right now is the sender for the Speedometer for it. I'm still looking though...Any ideas????
  10. Did anybody notice that there is only certain States that this covers, but covers the all of the North (Canuckia)
  11. On the Nav. side they aren't having nearly the problems that Ford has to start with this engine. Simply put Ford over-speced the engine and did nothing to compensate for the increased HP/Torque that it's putting out. Hp/Torque wars between the big three is the blame here, instead of building a good quality long lasting work horse. They all are in hurry to market and the big losers in the end are not only the customers, the bigger loser here are all of us. We are the ones stuck between the Manufacturers and the customers and getting beat on continiously JUST FOR DOING OUR JOBS.
  12. I'm thinking that Ford is doing this so they don't have to admit their engineering FUBAR, in regards to the packing the a/clnr with snow. They came out with the TSB so they don't end up with a Recall.
  13. Stewart Warner has just what we need, and I have in stock by the way. Depends on what color combo you want, 0-100 psi gauge @ $80.00 +/-. Sender @ $53.00 +/-. Usually we get guy's that buy the pillar gauge panels.
  14. I just read the TSB and there was a Note: Cooling fan noise level will be higher and the fan will cycle more frequently Do you guy's think we'll see premature fan clutch failures due to the Cycling of the fans?
  15. Actually if you see them and read them all time it's not so bad.. But good info Jim I have saved this to recall later and read in depth. Thanks
  16. Greg get out before it grenades/implodes around you this is a recipe for disaster. The D/P obviously doesn't really know whats going on, But just a little advise I lived there and done that. Your office monger is looking to hang out everyone to dry(WHY) to make herself look better in the D/P's eyes. I did live it with the owners wife Micromanaging everything, my parts Monger lost his nads a long time ago, he never stuck up for(his)parts guys but let us suffer under her. We nick named her GODZILLA(why) because she eats her young. I got out and I'm so much happier than I was at the dealer, Do I miss what I did, I SURE DO, but I have to do whats good for me. DO WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU Take your time and be sure what you do, not everyones situation is the same. But do it for you, whatever you choose!!!I know I went back and forth here but I can because I have been on both sides.
  17. Here's the question... ANYBODY INTO NASCAR We have 2 races here in the Beautiful Irish Hills of Michigan. I live 6 miles east of the track and love it. I have plenty of room if any of you guys want to come into town. I have a few guys that come in from the flatlands of the bad 4 letter word of Ohio(Buckeyes) they are all truckin futs. We have a good time when they come into town, they can't hold the Liquor but are still a lot of fun... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif Offer is open... Side note: Keith you look like you need a vaca. bring the family with you. Good times for everyone. You to Jim but ride your Harley This does not happen at work but I think my ribs are better, the next cook out at work is going to be Polish so I think you have to be a bit ethnic to enjoy it. At work is going to be around the 2nd week of May. My house is whenever I feel like doing ribs. Used my grill so much that right know I'm waiting on replacement parts for it. Burnt up the manifold and almost blew it up, melted the front center control on it and had flames coming out out the front panel. About 2 weeks for the parts. Come on guy's drive/fly in for you Northerners
  18. Quote: He knows the importance of a oil analysis to find the root cause, but with the border problems, I'm not holding my breath. Bruce my offer is still good if he has some of the original oil left I think I can get a sample bottle to him and back to me. Quote: Hey guys, I wonder if they're paying sign on bonuses? All I can think of is those Corona beer commercials with the guy on the beach. Wouldn't that be the coolest place to work? Bruce if they feed us and a little spending money I'm in, think about it sitting on the beach with a couple of Corona's watching the sun rise or set. I'm 100% in!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif
  19. If you learned something from these 2 trucks and they are down the road then they didn't kick your ass you kicked theirs. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif GOOD JOB
  20. Quote: The testing for EGR cooler leakage is fine, but really, if you replace an oil cooler for failure, are you going to re-use the EGR cooler? It pressure tests fine today, but what about next week? How weakened and close to failure is it from the oil cooler being restricted? My reality, at the edge of the oil patch, differs from pure repair strategies developed in a test facility. My question of the day...Could you possibly increase the pres. or vac. to cause the failure and head it off???
  21. Rule #1 refer to the dealer with a problem Rule #2 refer to rule #1
  22. Quote: I can't hardly make it three lines into all that lawyer-babble without reaching for my dear old friend.... Animal, mineral,or vegetable??? Let me guess Crown with a chaser....
  23. Quote: Glad you showed us this one because I now have to find out who is at my new work. I'm glad I seen this because my boss had no clue about the MSDS sheets, of which I have become the Keeper of the MSDS now. I have a lot of work to do they are a wreck!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
  24. Bruce had a guy come in today(early this morning) bought a injector for a DT466, came back about 2 hours later pissed off. He was all pissed, said we had shit injectors(lol) We took one look at it(Exactly the same as your picture) and I told him about this thread on the site, he didn't believe me, my fuel guy Bill had told him the same thing about the DT466's(Prime,CMP,Crank 30 seconds to bleed) when changing injectors or fuel filters but didn't believe it until I showed him this thread. He has since changed his attitude about his whole experience with this injector. By the way we changed out the injector tip N/C he's happy now and his customer is on the road. I believe that he would not have believed us unless I had the pic of the injector with the broken tip and the valuable text along with it. Thanks big time for the Doc's/Pic's on this it worked great...When you come to town p/m me Drinks and Dinner are on me!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  25. I didn't have the AYES program when I was at Cummins, but I had a internship that we worked with thru Ferris State and actually worked very well! We had some very bright and upcoming techs that have went on and did very well. Some stayed with Cummins and became very good techs the others found careers with the fleets around town. Either way I haven't seen anyone drop out yet. I still deal with one of them from about 10-11 years ago that went to Osborne concrete and is now running the shop. He was/is a very good tech and picked up quickly on the new technology at the time and was able to change as it changed. I think that the apprentice system is the best way to bring in the new younger generation into our world. If we don't the whole industry will be sucking the big one pretty quick. I currently have a new driver that went to college and is very bright. I am losing him to my fuel shop because he shows a lot of potential and Bill sees that. He starts Monday and that leaves me with a 50-ish driver that has no drive and shows no direction as to what he wants to do. I will be screwed for the next 2 weeks training a new driver that came highly recommended, but will this become a common occurance in my shop??? I hope not!!!I believe in promoting from within so I am happy for my driver of which has become the best one to date, going back at least 3 places of work!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif My opinion, do the apprentice program it works!!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
