  1. I promptly printed this out and hung it on the parts window for everyone to enjoy. I hope there's no copyright infringments. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
  2. Did my first one today. No chance of any upsales though, it belonged to one of our tight-wad sales people.
  3. That's cool as hell. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  4. We have '08 units on the lot stacking up like cord wood around here. There moving about as fast as Mustang GT's in January with 3 feet of snow on the ground. We live in a small area and people are kinda gun shy about the new powerplant. I think I have worked on a total of 3, one out of towner, one a lot unit with injector recall, and the boom truck.
  5. Quote: How tough was it to get the wiring to work? It was fairly labor intensive, about a third of the total time was spent on the wiring. The instrument cluster was shot also so I used the Excursion cluster and had to rewire all of the interior to make it work. The junk yard sent the guy a complete truck basically and he had the wiring from front to back. I lopped the ends off the three connectors that go thru the firewall and spliced them all into the 76 pin connector in the original truck. If I had to do it all over again I would have kept the three connectors intact and cut out a panel in the firewall for them to bolt thru like on an '00 model. If you still have '93-'94 model evtms, you can look at the 76 pin connector (C202) and see it has large pins around the perimeter and small pins filling the interior of the connector. I had to reassign all those locations with the new harness making sure I had the proper size wire employed to carry the amount of amperage it needed (60 amp fuses to the ignition switch, headlamps, ect.). Another interesting note on the instrument cluster, the old one has a PSOM to figure out the vss input for the speedometer. Well an '00 Excursion uses the abs module to accomplish this. My '93 has rabs only. After much though I overcame this hurdle by removing the PSOM unit from the factory cluster and taping it up and stuffing it into the corner and using the output wire to the pcm/speed control module and sending it to the new cluster on the wire that normally came from the abs unit.
  6. The guys in the shop make fun of me when I check a customers spare tire and top it off it's low (seems to go against their flat rate mentality), but if a guy drops 5 bills on a major service and has a flat 2 miles down the road and his spare is in the same shape, how happy is he gonna be?
  7. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif It can't be laid down any better that that.
  8. Quote: At least for people like me a spare is available as an option I have my own personal spare tire, carry with me every where I go, my wife calls it a tool shed though. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
  9. I'm at the top rung of the ladder at my dealer, so I can pretty much do what ever I want. With that said anything that goes on in my bay no matter how crazy it may be, usually doesn't get a second glance.
  10. I HAVE NOTICED THEY HAVE CANCELLED THE FORDSTAR ROUNDTABLE TWICE IN A ROW NOW.
  11. Ah, I forgot to look under emissions controls.
  12. Has anyone seen a procedure in the workshop manual to justify this labor time?
  13. I was reminded recently of Fords hypochracy and it brought up this question. Why is major engine work on a diesel allowed in chassis but modular motors have to be removed? It's 10 no 20..... 100 times easier to do a set of head gaskets on a 5.4l than a 6.0l in a super duty yet Ford demands you remove the gas engine before you remove the heads. That brings me to cab offs. They treat you like you will be drawn and quartered if you lift an '07 but wait it's ok on a '08. It's the same frickin' thing except the body unbolts easier on the "forbidden" units. I don't drink so don't pay me any attention. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif
  14. Looks like he might as well order chinese.
  15. Quote: Rock, just keep a cam sensor and 10mm socket and rachet in ure glove box if you get it LoL This quote from over in the 6.4l section reminded me of a time I had to fly down to SC and pick up a truck to drive back to Vermont. First thing I did was load up my bag with a cam sensor and some tools for the ol' glove box on the return trip. The truck was a '93 F-350 that I put a 7.3 from a '00 Excursion and a 6 sp from a '99 F-350 into. I had to move while I was still working on it so I made a return trip to get it and finish it. I have a ton of pictures detailing the process and could use some input on how to make a little web page so you guys could go to to check it out. It turned out really nice for what it was worth.
  16. I got mine a long time ago. I'm in the process of growing a handle bar mustache before I break it out though. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
  17. Quote: Better shoot yourself in the foot now /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif
  18. 90% diesel, 8% other warranty concerns, 2% customer pay. I'm the only diesel certified guy on Monday so I'm pretty busy. Although I may not like what I am busy doing.
  19. The best thing about TPMS is all the lazy f*#ks doing PDIs on Super Dutys have to actully set the tire pressure or the lite will come on while driving.
  20. Quote: I think I'll keep asking others as I speak to them and see If I get different answers Oh you will, if you talk to a dozen other people you will get a dozen different answers.
  21. Our dealer won't sell them because they are not 4 wheel drive. I have never seen one in person. Diesel here is $3.45 a gallon today, I wouldn't buy diesel power unless I was working the 'ol girl.
  22. Nothing wrong with that, works quite well in fact. Plus it's a nice quick turn around back into you're customers hands.
