  1. Wow thats pretty interesting. I tell you these trucks never stop surprising me with some of the failures.

I just recently had a turbine come completely apart and just fall out when I pulled the turbo apart. luckily it didn't have time to make its way down the down pipe like others

  2. Yeah its by far the nicest and one of the biggest shops in arizona. Not to mention the company takes care of their guys. We service most fleet trucks and RVs. We even do CAT and Cummings work. I came from car service so working on the bigger stuff was a shock at first. I mostly do just engine work on the F350s-F750s tho. Its plenty to keep me busy most days.

Here are some better pictures to get an idea of how big it is.

This picture is standing in my stall looking across the shop

This is at one end of the shop looking length wise. Keep in mind this is only half the other half is to the right of the picture and just as big. Then there is the whole section of RV stalls on the right side of the shop too. the Rvs in the picture are just overflow. I think we have about 75stalls including RV. I have about 3-4 of my own which can easily stuff 6 F-series trucks into and still have room to work.

  3. I refuse to pay 190bucks to upgrade to XP Pro so I feel your pain keith. And they wonder why people pirate software now days!

My setup is with a toughbook running pro but it is also the shops. I have planned on getting my own and have a laptop I would use, it also has xp home so I would be in the same boat. Im interested if any of these would work. or I could get out my *cough* copy of xp pro *cough* and install that if you know what I mean /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

I wouldnt want ot run vista. I hear its a huge memory hog and it hasnet had too good of luck yet. more hassle than its worth not to mention you have to upgrade your pc so much to be able to meet the requirments

  4. it sucked!

We were forced to remove the bed as well. Did I mention it was a over the cab work bed? actually it was off the same truck I am having electrical issues with. I swear this thing is possesed, it follows me around!

After that was off it wasent all that bad. We had problems with the cab bolts, almost all broke the nut off and we had to screw around getting them loose. We used had tools too. Other than having to wait on parts it wasnt all that bad.

  5. New clue, I use an old session in the IDS of a like vehicle in hopes I could bypass the network tests and see what was going on within the pcm. I was able to pull codes, there was nothing that would turn the light on, I cleared and retested and go a pass code but still has a check engine light on. As soon as I selected the cluster and tryed to talk it my IDS drooled on itself again. I leaning towards it needing a cluster.

  6. his was a ground issue, no start and no communication from the HEC. mine runs fine just no comm at the pcm.

the degas bottle seems to be puking all over the FICM so I am going to take a look at the ficm connections. Ive gone over the power and grounds and all seems ok.

my biggest worry is the recent welding which somehow might have nuked something.

I guess today is the day for problem childs. I have another truck giving me greif too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif

  7. 04 F450 with 126k miles. The check engine light is on, tach inop, check guage light is on, and temp guages inop. her is the kicker. I have no communication with the PCM. I have power at the DLC but it wigs my IDS out everytime I try and identify the vehicle. It will give me taskman errors and I have to restart my laptop. Then it will just sit and think trying to communicate. It works on other vehicles so its not the IDS.

Also This truck just had a bed swap. I worked on it a couple weeks ago for a fuel leak or something when it didnt have a bed on it and all was well. Now its got a new flat bed on it and looks like it was welded to the frame in the rear. I am suspecting this is caused my issue I have been having due to seeing SSM19257. I removed the cluster and unplugged it and tryed to communicate, no luck. I just so happend to replace the processor in another truck for a map concern and I tryed swaping that one over and still no luck. I spoke to hotline and these where the two most likly modules to be affected. I am kinda at a lose here.

Anyone have an issue like this?

  8. Last time I checked if it wasn't an offered tire size from the factory we could not set the aspect ratio.I'm not sure if this has changed or not. they might have taken that function out completely and just left the preset sizes there. I haven't had the pleasure of trying to program huge trucks since I'm dealing with mostly fleet accounts now. I think that is a good thing. no more standing on my toolbox to work on them

  9. Does anyone else get the impression that there was a lot of guys watching that spent more effort using oxygen than they did listening?

isnt that the norm for most people that call in? at least 90% anyway. there is only a couple good questions most of the time. Its pure comedy to listen to
