  1. cool concept, I have wanted to try this but my wireless connection has been on the fritz at the shop lately. Im lucky if I can get it to update on its own without pluugin into a hard line.
  2. I view them daily, Thats the first thing I look at when I sign onto PTS everyday. If I find something pertaining to the PSD(we dont see much else in truck service) I will send out an email to our service department informing everyone to take a look at it. I only wish more techs would do this, there is always important info posted there.
  3. Its not bad, It looks worse than it really is. Once you figure out what wires you need to splice and rewire it goes pretty quick. Just make sure you take your time on the first one. there are several circuits with the same wire color and tracer so be sure on your circuits.
  4. I did the same on the first one i worked on. i totally over looked it, not to mention it had to be the right engine temp and to act up. I air checked it and never heard or saw anything. If you performed the air check after the engine was hot i was able to find the leak. now I almost always just pull them out to check. Its weird since I havent come across one on a F-series yet. Oh and dont you just love the monstrosity of an oil rail on those 4.5s! yeah thats my bronco in my avatar.
  5. Anyone out there having problems with the stand tube and stand tube plugs burning off the o-rings on the 4.5? I have had about 3 of these in the past month. Its not one either its usally both plugs on and sometimes even the stand tubes. I even had a plug on the left side where the ICP would be loose and the o-ring ripped to peices. Most of the time I am getting a no start when hot. I wish I would have snapped pictures of the last one I had. Seems to only been on engines with over 40k miles
  6. We are in the same boat. Ive always completed the diag sheets as well. Dont they push FIRT? how can you do that if you can not at least perform the rest of the diag sheet to make sure nothing else is out of wack? Frustrating
  7. most of the time you can smell it. Its a distictive smell and pretty obvious. Soemtimes if you only have a smal percetace of gas in the tank you wont be able to smell it. In that case you will have to have a sample sent out. however if its not strong enough to smell most of the time it wont cause a huge drivebilty concern, but there are always exceptions to the rule
  8. been there done that, It makes quite the mess doesent it? Mine only ran for about 5seconds and managed to cover the topside of the engine and bottom of the hood. One of those stupid things you smack yourself uside te head for cause its so simple. That why I hate it when people walk up and distract me in the middle of a job. All it takes is to loose your focus for a second and you forget something little.
