  1. I've been thinking of putting a little gasoline injector into the blower's output duct with an igniter and point it at his house while blowing. That should take care of his leaves....
  2. I'll have to mow my backyard once more. I thought it would have been done when we almost had snow a month ago. Weird weather. Most of the beaches are gone after last week. But mowing will wait until the "Leaf Wars" are over with my next door neighbor. The lazy bastard blows his leaves onto the berm between the yards, instead of down the back by the stream, and they fall into my yard so I have to clean them up. Well, he gets his... I bought a 10 horse blower vac, and I suck'em up and shoot the mf'ers all the way up to his damn front door. Maybe he'll get the idea.
  3. What coolant is supposed to be in it, green or gold. Green would be brass, gold the others.
  4. Not sure on a 6.0. Seen it on a 7.3. Only once, I had a truck with 1 injector pouring oil out the spill spout and out the bolts of the solenoid while cranking, with ICP around 350psi.
  5. I think that both of the parties we have now are so in the pockets of whichever special interest(s), company(ies) or group(s), that is all they care about. However they can get their palms greased, that's what they do. This is what I truly believe is running the country. Take a look at NJ's gov, a major stock holder in Goldman Sachs, their former CEO. He wrapped so much of NJ's money in it and his own, it's in his interest to make sure they got some "helper" money from DC. Look at when W was in, oil was king, as the both of them had huge interests in oil and defense/offense. Now that he's in, it's "green" stuff be-all and end-all. They want us all in little golf cart electric things, but the gov't is still the single largest purchaser of huge gas eating SUVs and trucks. But when you look deeper, they are all damn hypocrites, they are "do as I say, not as I do". A certain x-vp in Tennessee is a prime example. I betcha his private jets spews more CO2 than my Lightning can in 20 years in just a couple of flights. You should visit our toilet bowl of a state, and see just how it's done. From the lowest clerk in municipal gov't all the way up to the gov, everyone gets their "consideration". Or gives it to get something in return. Don't forget, anything that makes real sense is either ignored or twisted by them that it's unrecognizable by the time they are done. And of course, it costs us 1000x more in the end. BTW...I'm not so against "change" of which we've had none, as he's done nothing that anyone can really see. So far, nothing he said in his campaign has come to light. And without the puppet strings being pulled, he can't even speak for himself.
  6. Haven't you heard of City Year, amongst others. All inspired by our savior. There is currently over 4 million of them, just waiting for their orders.
  7. The CONservatives as you call them don't hide behind Catholicism particularly. They are Christ-IANS. The emphasis has to be on the last part. They deliberately align themselves with a fraction of those who believe in that way, but are way out there. They don't only oppose abortion.. They oppose an individuals right to act as they wish.. They want to legislate your morality. They hide behind that "belief" and are as fervent in denying others their own rights as defined in the Constitution because you don't believe in what they do, which is in their twisted minds is the belief this country was founded on their beliefs and is what our "official" religion is. I work with 2 of them. And let me tell you, they have no problem quoting the Bible and telling you how wrong everyone else is. And how truly wrong THEY are about other religions. Ugh. Our country is a secular republic, not sponsoring ANY type of belief. We are free to believe or not. All are equal, but NOT. Now, the current crop of DemoCRAPS, want you to work, not for you, but what they can take to give to everyone else who chooses not to better themselves. How is that right? They want to watch everything you do, but want to regulate your life to a point that you can only do certain things. Then don't forget, now we are REQUIRED to volunteer, don't forget 9-11 is now a "national day of service" where you are supposed to volunteer. Just wait, they'll find a way to make you give time to others who could care less to work for them selves. They'll soon enforce it with their new version of the Hitler Youth. It's time to vote all of them out for something different, whether that's independent, Libertarian, whatever.
  8. Are the '95s the ones with the filter headers that lose the bypass valve for the filter? That little disc and spring that likes to fall onto the top of the filter and gets chucked at an oil change?
  9. I looked up the coolers in RealTime the middle labor rate is 6.9 for the oil cooler, and 8.5 for the EGR cooler including testing and cleaning if needed. Since you're almost there for either with what you've got to take apart. Pick or go higher.
  10. Same thing happens or they stall completely when the filter falls off in the pan. Seen it on a lot of quicky lube trans services.
  11. The right side is gonna be real close. I had to use a cherry picker to get the heads on and off a 7.3 in a front engined school bus. I sure wouldn't want to pick them up working with the engine in chassis.
  12. Without pulling the trans, you won't know if the rear plate is leaking or the rear main seal. I've seen very few rear mains leak on 7.3s. I'd guess the oil is spraying up into the valley through the drain and hitting that up pipe? How's base oil pressure, good or low? Maybe it popped one of those oil galley plugs near the cam plug, and it's pumping full oil pressure up towards the rear engine plate.
  13. The Duramax turbos lose the center section bearings (seizure) usually when they spin cam bearings and starve the turbo for oil. Not the most common thing, but it does necessitate a new short block.
  14. They're worrying about that? with no emissions inspection or repair program up there??? When I visit Winnipeg, the stench of diesel, and uncatalyzed exhaust is horrible, usually from the perimeter north to downtown. How about get rid of the ancient city buses with 2 strokes that belch so much garbage that they make you gag! I've seen so many cars, in such rough shape that I have to wonder. Pickups that are so rusted as to see through them and many, many cars with no exhaust systems on them to speak of. I still remember seeing an early '90s Corolla leaking so much gasoline as it drove down the road, I couldn't believe it didn't blow up. Saw it every day for 2 weeks while cycling south out of the city. I guess those "safeties" when the car is bought/sold, is good enough?
  15. A place recommended from iATN I've seen, never been there though. http://www.heartattackgrill.com/menu.html
  16. Just had a guy come in with an '04 F150 FWD, he's complaining of a metallic grinding noise near his feet intermittently. When he stops, then goes again it isn't there for a while. We mentioned about the IWE problems (truck has 140k on it) and I go to take a look under the truck (in the lot) and I see brake fluid pouring out the left caliper and spraying all over the wheel. He says "oh, I know about the brake caliper leaking" I just want the grind to stop. My 3 KIDS don't like hearing it when I'm driving" I walked away and left him to the owner of the shop...Fucking idiot.
  17. I've seen tie rods re-attached with large plastic tie straps, and one with coat hangers holding them together. And they weren't even in the shop for the front end. I just sent emails to our motor vehicle agency in trenton to get a vehicle our local or state cops wouldn't take off the road. ( jurisdictional pissing match) A 1992 F150, with a roach coach body on it. Came in for a flat tire. The owner said "don't pick it up or it'll break in two" Laughing about it. I looked under there and the frame was snapped in two on BOTH sides, the right side having its break right AT the 60 gallon propane tank. This asshole was driving it every day for obviously a long time as the frame ends were all beat up and rounded and parts rusted badly. The DMV came through, pulled it, and pulled the inspection license of the shop that passes anything.
  18. Looks very familiar. Except yours still has a nearly complete brake rotor. Had a '99 F350 with a 10 horse trailer in tow start to lose the bearing in the Poconos. He drove 250 miles all the way back. The driver had nearly no brakes and next to no steering all the way back. He stated he heard NOTHING! Uh, ok. It looked just like that. Was one hell of a big ticket with everything cut up, rotor, caliper, bracket, axle, spindle nearly cut in two, hub gone, wheel and tire destroyed from the wild circle track alignment!
  19. Is the SuperDuty going to get the 6.2 gas V8 that the Raptor is going to have in it? Looks like it has more power and torque than the V10.
  20. I've been in a foul mood as well, for a while. Yes, life ain't fair, but it seems for some it's more fair than for others. Living in this toilet we call NJ the inequities of those who actually work for a living vs those who "work" for things like the state, are just too wide to not see. We work, pay taxes, they suck it all up and more and want more. Then when things went wrong, they bitch at TWO unpaid days off in one month, but aligned for 2 four day weekends. And they get asked, nicely to pay barely a pittance towards their lifetime health care, and bitch again. Awww, I feel so sorry for you. A few friends of mine work in the depths of our crooked gov't for money that's just criminal for what they do. Six figure salaries for 30 hour work weeks make me cringe. I sure got into the wrong line of work. I do my best to ignore it all, but it seems to be thrown into our faces daily.
  21. Howell township. At least the officers we deal with are easy to get along with. I don't even want to get into their building and zoning departments. What they're doing to the building's landlord is just awful.
  22. I believe that they did have the municipal garage find the wiring and hook up the front speakers. There was some argument between the officers and the shop there. It apparently took a few months to get all the newer cruisers fixed. We couldn't do the repair as we aren't a union contracted municipal shop as per their manager and the township administrator. Funny though, we do quite a bit of work for the local firehouse with their smaller vehicles. The rigs go to the municipal garage. Makes no sense to me.
  23. That was a good article. But then we should also apply this to our "public servants". How about cut their salaries in half. Make them PAY for their medical benefits like the rest of us. Cut their pensions, as they get full pay until they die, which is then transferred to their spouses, and when the spouses pass, it goes to any children. And they get free for life medical. How about put them on medicare like my mom is. Eliminate our "public servants" from more than 1 job in gov't which pads their pockets, raises their pensions and fucks us all in more taxes. I think the revolt is coming, and it's not going to be pretty.
  24. It's odd that you're seeing such odd wear on the Contis. We've got a customer that has a 2004, it came with Contis, but not sure of the model. That set lasted 94k, they wore perfectly even and she replaced them at 4/32" when we said they were getting low. They are rotate at every other oil change. She's got GY RT-S on it now, we'll see how they compare. Her Escape has been very, very good to her. It's needed very little. Tires 94k, all brakes at 110k (first set) and one set of rear shocks.
  25. The Alliants have proven themselves at our shop. Only ever had one fail, it died mechanically after 2 years and they warrantied it. No questions. I've had to replace remans (both Ford and other) repeatedly, usually after about 6 months to a year due to hard starting and heavy smoke issues when it gets cold out. The Alliant injectors do make a big difference in the way they run.
