  1. I believe the employee is covered under the labor act in Canada. We can not be held financially responsible for those sorts of accidental things, it doesn't say a flat rate tech cant be starved out though...... I know there is a bit more to it then that but you get the meaning...
  2. http://yosemite.epa.gov/opa/admpress.nsf/0/0f84561e0cf2ab7f85257af6006c4dbd?OpenDocument $500000 fine
  3. GF's car, 3.0 V6 has a coolant leak from what I can best detect as the bypass tube O ring at the front head. Nearly impossible to get a real good look at the area without taking things apart. Will only leak sitting cold, block heater has not been plugged in so far, have pressure tested with out leaking so far. no dye added yet. Consulted with the guy's I used to work with at the dealer and they have not had any leaks in that area from the fusion's in the past. I went ahead and ordered the o ring for the bypass tube and will be getting into this tomorrow morning. Is there anything else I should be looking at while I'm in there? Only the front o ring is avail separately, the rear only comes as part of the tube itself @ $120.00....
  4. Well I just called my IH dealer up and ordered a copy, $75.00!!!!!! I am waiting for the call from my supervisor asking me why I ordered it..... I think we will save the cost of the book in time alone trying to find the same info going through IH's service info... Some people just don't understand the need for resource info when fixing or even understanding what's out there....
  5. I know they are avail from IH but was wondering if some one scanned them into a pdf file like the ford ones on this site to be available to every one.
  6. Just wondering if any one can share-post up the IH books for the 2009 emission Max Force DT engines. I have seen them at a seminar but have yet been able to prod management to procure them as yet.
  7. He did a jump in an old rv, the body came down and almost killed him.... put him in hospital for a while... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v2Hy9v-P...e=results_video And if you want to laugh search "redneck roller coaster @ daves farm"
  8. I work for a school division on bus's, better then working at the last and only dealer.
  9. Well I have first hand experience with "incorrect" dip stick. 08 freighliner school bus with a M.B. engine had a oil consumption prob from day one and also had a plugged PDF. Once I started where the bus was sent to F.L to be checked, they did an inframe and came back consming oil at the same rate as b4. It went back again and the fix was a longer dip stick and a revised valve cover with the instructions to use 2L less oil during oil changes. While I always check levels b4 and after oil changes to ensure I didn't cock up this one was wrong from the factory! Good for us though we got an inframe for free at 160 km from F.L.
  10. It is also against labor law in Manitoba. When I worked at the dealer, that was not an issue.... If it was something I did for damage, I fixed it on my own time with parts eaten by the dealer and I was ok with that. One just made sure they didn't make a habit of it!
  11. We had the 444e then went straight to the Maxforce DT engines none of the newer V8's till now. Currently we have in new bus's the Cummins and Maxforce dt. We have had the cat's and Mercedes till recently but not in any new bus's.
  12. I was recently informed that the 6.4 is going to be the STD engine supplied in our school bus's supplied by IH..... They were coming with the Maxforce dt engine (dt466) but that is now a $$$$ optional engine...... Boy the powers that be(cheque signers) are in for a eye opener when these things start crap out and cost big $$$$$ to repair never mind the down time!!! They would be better off buying the Maxforce option and saving in the long run...... I guess i have some job security if they are going to run these!!
  13. Holy crap!!!! Brad, you need to be off the tools and be a service lit-parts lit writer! Every time you make up one of these i think to myself.... why the fuck cant ford or any manufacturer do this from day one???? Very nice Job!

    Prices

I think that any time a company ties sales/profit margin into a bonus or wages there is always going to be "precieved" dishonesty or price gouging.( I understand that this is a common practice) We all know "flush kings" and tecs that "up sell" unnecessary maint to pad the paycheck because they can make great time on the job. So when this also happens in the parts, sales or service to me it is not unexpected. When I worked in the dealership I was looking for a Ranger, looked at one and got the "employee price" decided against it only to find it was sold at a lower price to a person off the street then what they quoted it to me for! Needles to say I purchased a vehicle outside of my dealership after that. When the manager asked why I went outside of the dealership I told him straight out I was being gouged and didnt have any trust in the sales department from that point on. It is all buyer be ware..... Support local when the price is fair sure, but the only way to know whats fair is to shop around. I know we had lots of rig pigs travel or be towed to Manitoba to have their diesels worked on because our door rate was substantially lower then Alberta, not to mention that we didn't have a 3 week wait to get in the door.... Money is king. Consumers try to get the best price they can and retail's try to make as much profit as they can... Oh yeh.... Merry Christmas!!!
  15. I will pop the hood Monday, check the wiring connectors, and ask all those questions. I think he said he had a new y pipe put in recently, but i dont think a plugged cat's come and go.... He did not mention any messages on the display, but I didnt ask either. This sounds like it should be things that a dealer should know and have already checked. What ABS or stab control issues would effect a power limit?
  16. I have not looked at this one yet, it is a co-worker's truck. 03 chev half ton 5.3 going into limp home-forced power limit. it has been to gm several times and has not been corrected yet. CEL will come on some times but not always while the concern is present. Cycling the key will some times rest things and it goes away some times it stays after the key cycle. I am waiting for all the invoices to get what codes they have pulled so far. It was in the dealer this am and they swapped in tps sensor to see if that corrects it.. What will put this truck into limp home- forced power limit? The only thing I know for sure is it has had P0420, cat in eff code? I am not familiar with GM product at all. I know this is limited info but it is all I know at this point. Ask me questions that will help me fix something the dealer seams to be unable to...
  17. Helly Hansen or Stanfields Mostly come with long sleeve's but they can be cut off... Cabela's stocks lots but is pricy... But i see the "under armor" you had mentioned... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Clothing/Mens-Hunting-Clothing/Mens-Base-Layers/Mens-Midweight-Base-Layer-Tops|/pc/104797080/c/104748480/sc/104495580/i/104034780/Under-Armour-Long-Sleeve-Waffle-Crew/1237137.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fclothing-mens-hunting-clothing-mens-base-layers-mens-midweight-base-layer-tops%2F_%2FN-1101032%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104034780%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104797080%253Bcat104495580&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104797080%3Bcat104495580%3Bcat104034780 http://www.stanfields.com/products.asp http://www.hhworkwear.com/PRODUCTS/Kastrup-T-Shirt http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/_/N-1101029?WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104797080
  18. We had a local dealership burn to the ground a month back or so... Part of the clean up the day after.... 3 wheels, missing most of the box and part of the cab.....

    7.3-444e CMP

Can any one tell me what the diff was between the black bodied gold pinned and silver pinned cmp sensors? Since Ford did the recall are they only using one part # to replace both style's of sensors? I have used a new grey sensor in a 444e cause it was avail and it works fine, but I ordered one from my main office and I was asked what one is in the bus now, gold or silver pinned...... Dose any one know what I.H. has done with their sensors, did they do a recall or anything sim to Ford? Am I getting old stock or has I.H. not made any changes??? Thanks Don
  21. OK, after getting it into some shelter some light and out of the elements.... It is a 4 wire sensor. I found the harness had been slightly sucked into the fan and only damaged one wire... One of the 4 that go to the coolant level sensor.. soldered in a new piece of wire and bingo... Easy fix and tied up out of harms way now! Being a farm truck I was really expecting to be looking for mouse damage some where, as i have found in the past... I guess next time look for the more obvious things first!!! Thats what I get for looking at it in the dark, in a field, in the wet.... The old sensor was cracked at the tip in the coolant and that is what i looked at first. Live and learn... Thanks for the for the help though dieseldoc and Budy!!
  22. tried unplugging it, still shut down. blink code 422. If unplugging it should bypass the shutdown and it still shuts down makes me think there is a short in those 3 wires some where now...... Might have to overlay those wires and see what happens... a pin out diagram for the connector at the pcm would speed things up a lot.. but this is on hold till Monday now....
  23. I have a 97 sterling with an M11 that is shutting down with a blink code for coolant level. It is full of coolant, and the sensor was just replaced because it was cracked. It still shuts down with the same coolant level code coming up. It is a 3 pin style sensor. I know it can be programed out of shutdown mode but I have no access to any Cummings diag equipment. This is a truck used only during harvest ant planting and needs to run asap. Does any one have access to some wiring diagrams or pin outs at the pcm they can share or have any common failure points to look at?
  24. In my small town if you see one dr. then the others will not give u test results or be that helpfull on a walk in basis... do they say anything bad... no.... but saying nothing is sometimes worse!!!
