From my brief introduction to diesel warranty claim audits, when I was going to start that job for FoMoCo... I don't think you're far off. Although they did tell me a certain opcode (flavor of the week) can automatically trigger a claim review.

It doesn't actually tell you what the failure is... Just that you're replacing the long block if the glow plug is damaged.

What he said. I used to get claims all the time that I had performed to review. "Uhh... I never fucking wrote that!" That being said - perfect example of that is the bullshit freestar trans recall. Warranty works out to like 7ish hours to change the converter. Now the recall pays four and change? Go die in a fire! How long before the tech has to pay FoMoCo to fix stuff?

I honestly FORGOT to put the top bolt in a starter once when I was doing an engine swap, because I got called away when I was installing the starter (likely to answer some dumbshit's question on the fucking PHONE), when I came back I lowered the truck (F-150) and hit the key. That starter was UNHAPPY about that bolt bein missing. Was the missing bolt truck noisy Jim?

I did a branch tube adapter, 8 glow plugs, and resealed and cleaned up an HFCM yesterday. I miss working on 6.0's.
