  1. Gonna swap the rad, stats, and flush the whole cooling system and change to the big truck long life (Caterpillar EC-1, we use it in all our Internationals at work) antifreeze this weekend.
  2. That's really not good if it's putting compression out the intake... Pretty good indication of a valvetrain failure which is becoming pretty frighteningly common on these... Real frightening, since I have one in the driveway.
  3. I also miss working on Super Duties.
  4. 50% of the time, it works every time Our DPF trucks beat up filters BAD at work. The DPF/SCR trucks aren't bad on DPF's but they eat urea at a rate of about 5 gallons every two days.
  5. I know a shit ton of useless information, I'm beginning to notice.
  6. "Euthanasia" is derived from Greek, loosely translated to "Good Death". It is typically the intentional ending of a life to relieve pain and suffering. The suffix "-cide" is derived from the Latin "caedere" for "to kill". I suspect the terminology is different because most forms of "cide" are not to relieve pain or suffering. Just my opinion.
  7. Jim will be chiming in shortly with the Mexican Manual Regen.
  8. I tend to chuckle also. Not so much when I saw the puddle under the front left frame horn... But I tend to chuckle about the situation.
  9. What's the highest mileage anyone has seen on an 08 SD original radiator? Mine went for a dump today at 171,000km or 110k or so miles. Had updated thermostats in it for a year now, Venturi tee since day 1, new upper and lower rad hoses (preventative, never leaking). So I have all the "causes" addressed and the rad still failed lol.
  10. Agreed. Can be done, but it's not as fun.
  11. I love how adding comments is disabled. Fuck that guy is a goof.
  12. FF to about 3:20. He needs to put some of that proprietary coating on the gasket he just blew.
  13. I betcha he torqued the stud using the specs for the stock bolts looking at the way that shit broke, and then wouldn't come out of the block.
  14. It's an older incident apparently, it was linked to a post about the super awesome copper spray a gasket he's using now.
  15. That particular engine was repaired at River City Diesel. The owner has stated on public forums that Mr. Hewitt was the wizard behind that debacle.
  16. Broke a head stud? No problem. Drill it. Not happening? Smear some silicone on that shit and jam 'er in the hole. Call 'er done. Work done by our fine friend at powerstroke help. Caption away, fellows: He's gonna stick it in THERE... And it's gonna be THIS BIG when he's done! And afterwards, he's going to make a grilled cheese sandwich.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRnZatjGPqs&feature=youtu.be I like the engine stand in the background. The blocks of wood? Sharp.
  18. There was a goofy bracket that got added to the 04.25-up pedestal that was supposed to fix vibrations or somesuch thing.
  19. I asked a question about this same thing a LONG time ago, but I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere on here. Been looking for like 30 minutes now.
  20. Pick the french option and then refuse to speak anything but english. No waiting on hold, works every time Most of the operators are bilingual instead of french only, so they will help you. I get bored sometimes and learn things like this.
