  1. That is an awesome shop, and the 66-7 deuce (gonna say 67 due to the small trim parting line on the decklid) is a nice looking car, too. Very nicely done. That is quite a thread at 328 pages!
  2. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=552143 There any truth to this, or is it some company ambulance chasing to drum up business? Nobody's posted the letter's contents as of yet, but there was a guy on another forum saying that he got a fake recall letter from a local dealer the other day that was mostly an advertisement, but had the words "safety recall" printed in it, and it was NOT from FoMoCo, but a dealership. It seems as though the tricky ads on the internet "CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD" and whatnot are coming more widespread, and even through the mail now.
  3. Failing both of those you can hit each exhaust port at the manifold with an infrared thermometer and see which holes are cold.
  4. The part that kinda bites about the VCM is the subscription part. I'd already have a IDS/VCMII setup but I don't use it enough at the moment on the side, or even on my own stuff to justify a subscription to keep it working.
  5. Cool, Was just curious. Have seen a couple self proclaimed 'bolt guys' fuck up helicoils... BAD.

  7. Honest question, how do you feel about that?

    Stress

That "powerstroke techie" banner they stick on us is kind of a sign that says "Feel free to send/ask me all your stupid questions"
  9. Not totally related but we put a replacement compressor wheel on my buddy's non-VGT turbo on his 6.4 and that swap is easy as pie.

    Stress

A lot of it is coming from shift work and erratic shifts. I have just accepted a position at Sean Hyland Motorsports, Canada's only authorized Shelby modification/repair centre, (building, testing and repairing THIS sort of thing, as well as GT500 Super Snakes etc.) and it is a straight 8-5 Monday to Friday gig, with approximately a 25% pay increase over what I'm making now, with less expenses and deductions than I have now. This will alleviate a great deal the money stress, as well as the shift issue, which I think subconsciously are my two biggest issues. This brings us to the "city" thing. Recently when my previous common-law relationship went in the shitter, along with it went my personal credit, so purchasing a house is out of the question. My current situation is convenient from a money standpoint, whereas I know exactly what my living costs are from month to month, as my apartment is all-inclusive, so I know EXACTLY what my rent is going to be, with no surprises from hydro, water, gas, etc. which is difficult to find NOT in a city area. I have been coping so far so good - no alcohol, medication or anything required as of yet, aside from the occasional bender for 'fun' LOL.

    Stress

I am currently at OHSA training, and they're talking about stress. There's a chart they have you fill out, with scores for "life events" that have recently occurred in your life. 0-149 is light/low stress. 149-299 is mild/moderate stress 300+ is high stress and your likelihood of developing a stress related illness is very high. My score was 478. Without sitting down and thinking about it, I'd say I haven't had a good night's sleep in MONTHS, lay awake and stare at the ceiling, worry about shit I can't change, or things that will not change. Working an off-shift and living with someone who works steady days doesn't help any either... It's really beginning to drain on me. I recently moved to the city, never really lived "in the city" before, and it's so fucking bright even with the blinds closed you can almost read in my room at night. As some of you may be able to tell by the timestamp, I can't sleep. Any suggestions?
  13. If you pay the shipping and return it when you're done, I have a known good IDM in my toolbox. Probably won't be much from Ontario to Alberta, but the timeframe might not impress your customer. As Bruce said though, I'm not sure you're into an IDM..but this is a head scratcher for sure.
  14. I am thinking about picking up a VCM II. I used one last weekend, I like it. Connection is night and day quicker than the old VCM's times. After dinking around with a VCM1 for awhile trying to get it to communicate, grabbed another IDS computer and VCM II, bang. Instant communication.
  15. If the pressure is the same on both I'd lean towards the A/C compressor not pumping (Shaft broke or compressor just whistled), or the restriction (orifice tube, TXV) not working.
  16. Not that that's OK on a regular vehicle, but you can only hope that if you butcher an ambulance it isn't the one that comes to pick you up from an emergency.
  17. On an ambulance. Lovely. Shakin' my head.
  18. Odds are it's junk, but if the oil is black in one of those it's likely wasted. That being said: Double check all the electrical connectors at the speed sensor, PRNDL switch, and main harness into the trans, this sounds almost like an electrical issue to me - electrical will cause this.
  19. Mike's a bunch smaller than I am, but I prefer to pull the doghouse on those, or our 4900's to do anything, especially stuff towards the rear of the engine.
  20. I switched my truck to Caterpillar compliant EC-1 (Delo Branded) long life antifreeze. That's what I see International putting in the Maxxforce engines we see at work. I'm not sure if it's the same as the orange stuff that Ford is using now, I flushed the truck 3 or 4 times with clear water, and then changed the rad and filled it with the EC-1 after draining via the core plugs.
  21. 1. Drink 12 beers, but save two of the cans. 2. What were we fixing?
  22. According to the shop manual, it tells you to pull the manifold and change the gasket, or at least it used to.
